I've been dying to share the images of Dee that were worked on for this book cover. She underwent a lot of changes to get where she is. At first we were going to make her shorter than Herod, but it made the cover look lopsided.

I'm thrilled to be able to finally share the cover with everyone.

We tried covering the MBrain with landscape like it would be seen with, but decided it made it look too busy and too weird. We tried spreading out the layers, but again, it looked strange.

It was a complex image, but my artist did a bang up job on it!

Hope you like it.

Okay, I have to admit: my mental picture of Herod has definitely been different all this time. Much more the 'researcher' rather than 'old experienced mechanic', even after he... went through a lot. That said? I think what you have there fits him, and the paradox that is humanity in all it's wonderful, wacky, awesome forms of glory and horror so very well. Because sure, if you look at him one way, he's the gruff old mechanic that other species tend to ignore because 'they are lesser so not important' yet we know can have some of the most important knowledge, even if we do ignore them a lot of the time ourselves until we need them. If you look another way though, he's a respectable old professor who's got salt and pepper in his beard having donned his 'chill out' clothes rather than the professional look of his work week. Maybe he's even puttying around in the backyard working on a personal project 'just for fun'.
