It's been a (very emotionally draining) blast watching you play through this for the first time. Those final scenes are really just a massive gut punch, with Ellie's mission against Abby causing her to lose Dina, JJ, her knife which belonged to her mother and the ability to play guitar which she learned through Joel. Would love to see you play through some other Playstation exclusives down the road like God of War (2018) and its sequel, Ghost of Tsushima and the Spider-Man games. Whatever it is I'm sure it'll be a great time!

Masterpiece. Loved following your gameplay, and looking forward to whatever's next! I hope Red Dead 2 is in the pipeline, if not next :)

Such beautiful and heartbreaking storytelling. A wonderful ride watching along to you play this game! I can recognize the post-game blues you described, I really felt emptiness realizing the story was over after my playthrough. The only good solution is jumping into a new game. Now I’m hoping for a future playthrough of God of War!

glad you enjoyed it as much as I did. Obviously a game that has a lot of division in fan reception. But for my money, it's better than the first (slightly) and the best game i've ever played.

This is definitely what i was looking forward to, and seeing you respond to the game in the same way i did brought a lot back for me. The idea of Ellie being robbed of her chance to forgive Joel, and her rage being sated only by the flashback of the night before everything went down is one of the saddest (but wonderful) moments of story for me

2 and a half years later and I still get emotional about the ending (the fight and the flashback). This isn’t a perfect game (I found Owen and Mel to be dull and the change in pacing from Ellie day 3 to Abby day 1 is jarring), but the complex characters, uniqueness of providing perspective from the “antagonist” and empathizing with that character, amazing visuals and gameplay make this my favorite game. What makes the ending of Part 2 more heartbreaking is that Ellie tells Sam in TLOU what she fears most is ending up alone, which is what happens. I think you’re right about Ellie allowing Abby to live because she finally forgave Joel. Before that, she felt guilty about not being able to forgive him before he died and that was part of the reason she was so dedicated in trying to kill Abby. She felt that Abby had robbed her of the chance to forgive Joel. The main menu screen after you complete the game indicates that Abby and Lev made it to Catalina Island. I think you should play God of War and God of War Ragnarok next. In terms of narrative and characters, it’s up there with The Last of Us. Some of the gameplay and spectacle exceeds The Last of Us.

I think you should definitely watch the The Last of Us Part 2 Reveal trailer. The added context brings so much more into it. The foreshadowing and knowing what comes after makes it one of my favorite little bits of media. Plus the song Ellie sings is pretty good too.

He said during the playthrough that was the only trailer he had watched.

I also want to point out that I like how throughout the entire game, we were led to believe that Ellie and Joel's last interaction was a negative one. All we've heard (from Ellie and other characters) was that Seth was being an asshole and Joel stepped in and Ellie told him off. Now we've seen what happened after and all those conversations that Ellie has with other people have a different meaning now. For example: Maria asking Ellie if she and Joel are having problems and Ellie just says that "they're fine." Initially we (like Maria) just thought that Ellie was just being closed-off. Another conversation was when Dina was inviting Ellie to hangout after their patrol. Weirdly enough, Ellie declines the invitation saying that she's planning on asking Joel to hangout and watch movies (which at this point was kind of weird since we assumed they're not in good terms anymore). I like to think that Ellie has already forgiven Joel at that point. Declining her crush's invitation so that she can ask Joel to watch movies with her is not something you do with someone that you hated.
