Patreon Crowdcast with Fr. Andrew Coleman! (Patreon)
Content
Our next Patreon-exclusive live Crowdcast takes us across the sea to Coventry, England, where Fr. Andrew Coleman, the Priest-in-Charge of Ansty, Shilton, and St Nicholas' Radford in the Church of England, will join us for a conversation about the interaction of Biblical texts and Eddic texts.
People often ask about similar imagery in the Bible and the Eddas--everything from the Midgard-Serpent to the attempted resurrection of Baldr has been seen as having some kind of Biblical parallel. In this conversation, we'll be comparing and contrasting some of the scenes and concepts that are most often asked about in these connections, and of course taking your questions about the same. We'll be interested to talk about what is similar, what is different, and consider why and how.
Fr. Coleman has a Master's in Divinity from Melbourne College of Divinity, and has worked as an ordained minister for eleven years. This promises to be a wide-ranging and informative discussion for anyone with an interest in the Eddas or the Bible, but especially anyone who's been intrigued by them both.
To accommodate our very different time zones, this one will be a little earlier in the day, on Friday, February 5th at 10:00 a.m. U.S. Mountain time (the registration link ought to show you the time in your own time zone). Of course, it will be available to view on Crowdcast after the live broadcast as well.
Also, please note that Patreon messages still aren't working right. I don't get notifications about new messages, and even the newest unread messages aren't always showing up in the "inbox" that's displayed to me on Patreon. The surest way to reach us is to email Stella at admin @ jacksonwcrawford.com
And a final note: the video updates on Youtube this week will be on a different schedule than usual because Dr. Caley Smith wants to be there "live" when his Crowdcast is posted publicly this week. We'll go back to the usual Wednesday/Friday/(sometimes Sunday or Monday) schedule in following weeks.
All the best for now and I'll hope to see you Friday,
Jackson Crawford
