There is no Crowdcast this week, but Stella and I have an exciting roster of scholars and other fun and interesting people we're working with to schedule more in the near future.

In the meantime, I've continued to work on more detailed readthroughs of Eddic poems for you (in addition to reposting the Hávamál series as one single video with my readthrough and commentary on the entire poem). While I still owe you the rest of Lokasenna, the remaining stanzas represent a lot of unexpected work (alright, I'll be honest: I filmed that entire hour-long video but then accidentally deleted it). To tide you over, I'm giving you early access to my readthrough of the entire Fǫr Skírnis / Skírnismál (also linked above).

In book news, I'm happy to announce that my fourth book of translations from Hackett Publishing Company now has not just a release date (September 2021) but an official title, Two Sagas of Mythical Heroes: Hervor and Heidrek and Hrólf Kraki and His Champions. A little wordy, but it gets the contents across. We have some cool cover ideas we're bouncing around, and I'm looking forward to sharing that final product with you.

For those of you who haven't been around here as long, this was originally supposed to be my third book with Hackett, and I was sharing snippets of it on Patreon as far back as 2018 when I signed my contracts with them to produce that book and, eventually later on, a translation of The Prose Edda. But then in 2019 came the idea for The Wanderer's Hávamál, and we pursued that as a priority and got it out first, and then in 2020 Covid and everything else slowed down the publishing industry massively.

In yet more book-and-Covid news, I've been in talks with Boulder Book Store about keeping a regular supply of books signed by me on hand, that people can order from Boulder Book Store from anywhere in the world. We've had an arrangement like that before, but like many other things it fell apart during all the lockdowns. I'm trying to get them a realistic estimate of how many they would need to keep on hand for a two-month supply. In a separate post, I'll post a poll asking if you would consider buying a signed book from them in the next two months. Pretty rough math but it's better than guessing from a blank.

For now, thank you for your continued support, and all the best,

Jackson Crawford

I am looking forward to the new tome. Tyrfing shall be unsheathed once more ! With The Wanderers Havamal there was something of a lag before copies started to filter out to other countries, so this time round I might have to preorder directly from the US - maybe even from the Boulder Book Store itself

It's broken at the moment for some reason for me as well, but I checked with Dr. Crawford and he sent me the direct link, so hopefully this works (it did for me just a minute ago) https://vimeo.com/509988737/6b8f512620
