Anaïs

Loved the theme of the episode, very nice. And the surprise duet between Queen and Rachel was cool, their voice matched really good I might say.

Very good episode. Blaine’s cover of Somewhere Only We Know is one of those Glee covers I prefer more than the actual song. I get so emotional everytime I listen to it & would highly suggest listening to the full audio version with earbuds in, it just hits different.

It bothers me how Santana is just as mean as Quinn is and in fact she’s meaner but everyone still likes her. Santana is blackmailing Karofsky that she’s going to out him which is totally wrong, but then everyone hates Quinn still even though she’s been chill this whole season :/

Yea I love the representation for LGBTQ and Latina's that Santana represents, but other than that she like is not nice. Like, genuinely, she is a bitch and over the course of the show she has her moments and she can be kind, but she can also be so hateful. I feel like people get swept up in her figuring out her gender identity/sexual orientation story and even her relationship with Brittney and forget that she is incredibly rude 99.9% of the time. IDK

Santana is a bitch but she knows it and owns it....Quinn is a bitch but pretends to be sweet and innocent, that's why she gets the hate

Michelle

Anyways stan Santana

Quinn and Santana are both amazing characters. Both are different but equally compelling. Quinn isn’t a bitch. People forget all she’s been through. She got thrown out of her house by her father, her boyfriend of years cheated on her and she got pregnant by someone who got her drunk off wine coolers. The consent was definitely not there but the show played it off as a joke. Her character this season is going through it and is projecting her issues onto tangible goals like prom queen and a guy (Finn). You’ll see more of her journey in the coming seasons, but having watched her complete arc it’s obvious to me that she is struggling mentally and emotionally. She needs help and is acting out because she needs someone to listen to her struggle. As for Santana, yes she’s a bitch, but it’s so obvious she’s dealing with internalized lesbophobia. She’s mean and rude because she has all these inner feelings that she isn’t able to freely express because she’s afraid of people’s reactions and scared of loving girls since we live in a heteronormative society. That’s why she’s so outwardly sexual and aggressive with her pursuit of the guys, she’s trying to convince herself that she’s into them, when in reality she is doing it for show for others. Her inner self is at war with herself, and the only way she has to express herself is to be mean to people and lash out. She has all this pent up frustration that she can’t express and it all bubbles to the surface sometimes. In this particular episode, she threatened to out Karofsky, but I always saw it as an empty threat because she came out to him in the same scene. Why would she give him ammunition against her if she really was going to blackmail him? It makes no sense. She used that situation as leverage so she could come out. She just wanted to get it off her chest. Stan Quinn and Santana.

Gleeks need to stop comparing characters and pitting them against each other in order to defend your favorites. People loved glee for different reasons. Everyone has their favorites that they connected to for whatever reason. It’s fine to like Santana and not Quinn or the other way around. You can defend Quinn without tearing down Santana or the other way around. Let people like what they like.

just so everyone knows i love santana🥺 i was just stating my opinion that quinn and santana are both mean. so don’t get mad at others for our feelings on characters, we’re allowed to state them

Fizzy

Its alright. Sorry, if I came off harsh. I’m been in this fandom too long and just get triggered. Your opinions are valid.

So I feel like I can answer the question a bit on Quinn and why she would look down on other people despite having gone through it. I had a similar situation to Quinn where I was picked on horribly and eventually my family pulled me out after elementary school and put me in a private school to get me away from bullying. I spent middle school in private school and during that time I addressed a lot of the issues that got me bullied while in public school. Right as I was finishing middle school, we moved to the next town over and I asked to go back to public school because we were in a new school district. My mom obliged. I had the Quinn experience upon arrival and was able to fit in with the popular group in school. I wish I could say I looked out for those who were bullied but I didn't. Partially because I was afraid that if I stood up to my friends and defended the outcasts, I would be put right back into the position of being picked on again. Also partially because there was some ego involved. I had a bit of a mindset of 'I identified what got me bullied, and I changed it to change my standing. So others can do that too. So its on them to make the changes necessary to fit in.' I'm not saying what I did was the right way to handle things, but I feel like that those may be some of the reasons Quinn went through the trauma of being the outcast and then didn't have more sympathy for them when she found herself on the other side of things.

I am really glad you liked this episode a lot, I absolutely loved Kurt’s storyline here and the warblers singing somewhere only we know as well as kurts solo! The faberry duet was iconic as well and of course Santanas storyline here you can really see her struggling with her sexuality and her feelings for brittany. One of the best episodes of the season!

True that. I can’t stand phony “nice”people, especially those type of phonies that claim to be “Christian” while acting superior to everyone else. It’s also the fact that Quinn is this classically beautiful blonde girl who dresses like she’s from the 50’s and a has a syrupy sweet voice, so people assume she sweet and innocent and she gets so much privilege. Santana doesn’t get all that.

Elizabeth

Really good explanation!!! I think people forget that this is a show about kids. While popularity and reputation seems so trivial to us as adults, to kids sometimes it’s the most important thing. Not only does this episode give us some background of things Quinn went through as a child but also look at everything she went through last season. She’s been on the bottom and the top and she’s determined to stay at the top because that’s what she’s fixated on to know she’s loved. It’s doesn’t make the behavior right but people can at least know where she’s coming from.

anyways send people to crack houses 💕✨

This episode is always a tough one for me. I understand where they were coming from with accepting who you are because there are somethings about yourself that you can't change (sexual orientation, gender identity, mental health conditions, etc). However, if it's something that is seriously affecting you...why not change it? I was bullied and sexual harassed throughout middle school and high school because my boobs were bigger than everyone else. As much as people pay for big boobs, the one thing I wanted was to be smaller. I wore loose fitting shirts and jackets to try and hide because I was sick of being bullied. I would go into dressing rooms and cry because nothing ever fit. So when I turned 18 and graduated high school I asked my mom if I could get a reduction. I had been thinking about it for years and thankfully she agreed. I have never regretted my decision. I feel more comfortable and confident now than I ever did before. I may have been born that way, but I'm so grateful that I didn't have to stay that way.
