I figure that she told Nicole because she felt bad, (for once, lolz) about bugging her in the first place. She learned nothing new, she figured it wasn't her, so she liked Nicole beforehand and after being fairly sure she's innocent she felt bad that she betrayed her. Yeah it wasn't necessary to tell her, but we've already had enough of Veronica being a pretty shitty person this season. :P It was kinda nice to have her just have an honest moment and tell the truth to someone who thought Veronica was her friend even if she knew it'd burn bridges.
