I know there's a division in the fanbase on which era of Smallville is best; the later years or the teen/high school years. Re-visiting a lot of these old school episodes have me re-evaluating a lot of thoughts I've had on Smallville because while it may be more "teen soap opera" and less comic book-y stuff, there's a lot of really good pieces of dialog like the end between Lex and Clark. It may have been "corny" or "cheesy" but it worked for me, I geek out every time Smallville drops a Superman reference or Easter Egg

Agreed, the writers of this episode were definitely really into referencing the fact that he'll be superman eventually, even when they have to force it.
