At the Golden Globe awards, E! news displayed Jameela Jamil's name on screen as 'Kamilah Al-Jamil'. 🤣 https://twitter.com/netflix/status/1082062700111290368

I agree! this show is so much more than just comedy. The creator of the show also wrote for The Office and SNL and also co-created the shows Parks and Rec and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, all of which are considered some of the greatest modern comedy series of all time. This episode helps us understand why Tahani is the way she is. When I first started this show, she annoyed me too, but learning more about her throughout the series definitely makes you look at her in a different light. Honestly, all the characters are so unique and different and good? There's no character I absolutely cannot stand due to lack of depth or general interest. Thank you for another great reaction!

This show is so unique calling it a comedy doesn't even come close to accurately describing it. I try to describe it for people and fall short. It's not only a commentary on how we treat each other, but how forked up the justice system and the way people are judged is so outdated. Everyone is such a rich, interesting character, even those that seem minor become a bigger player later on. As someone who's seen the whole series and binged it several times, it's hard to know how to give commentary on certain things without giving away big plot points. But this is definitely a show you want to watch at least twice, because when you go back later on, something that just doesn't seem to belong or make sense will completely make sense for the overall arc of the show.

I agree with your comments at the end. This show had the right mixture of cast, writers, and thankfully the right timing to gain an audience to keep it going beyond the first season. This show overall consistently puts out stellar episodes that build upon one another, making this one of my favorite series of all time. So glad you are enjoying it.

Janet: "Too soon. Specifically 9 days too soon." lol. Enjoyed your speculation of the path the show takes from here on out, fairly sure you'll be surprised!

Andrea

Loved your comments on the unexpected depth of this show. I was a fan of everybody involved but it still took me by surprise on that front too. Looking forward to your reactions to where it goes next!

When I rewatched this episode it was right at the begining of the pandemic and I could not relate more to a show in my life.

I loved your reaction so much and yes I stayed to listen to your thoughts after the episode ended and it's amazing how your rating switched. You were set on a 8/10 but when you kept talking and realized how great the episode was, you change it to a 9! This was one of my favorite episodes of season 1.

All I can say was this show has a plan each season and executes it.

Yes to all of that and more. This network "sitcom" is like a Russian Doll of storytelling that gets more rewarding with each rewatch. (I had a whole middle part that I deleted because like you said, "it's hard to know how to give commentary on certain things...").
