I think Regina was so willing to let Cora back in because 1) she had no one left on her side in Storeybrooke and she's desperate to get Henry back and 2) Cora is still her mother, even if she is (literally) heartless and self-serving.

I totally agree with your rating of the episode, the flashbacks to the Frankenstein story was so confusing to me. I felt like it had no connection to the present timeline, like there was no parallel in the worlds, and that’s what threw me off. And one question I had after watching this episode was “If Victor (Dr. Whale) Frankenstein tested his experiment before with his brother, why would he test it again in Storybrooke with Daniel, after he saw how it failed the first time?” it was so confusing to me. I agree, it did feel really rushed and I felt like this episode could’ve been skippable but it had a few moments that become important in the future, such as, Regina and Cora TEAMING UP? like wtf. Cora giving Rumple the Magic Globe so he can find Baelfire, Greg knowing more than what Emma and the others think, and ultimately that Storybrooke has residents that aren’t only from fairy tales and there could be so many more characters that the writers introduce even though they aren’t in the original Story Book. It’s 1:23 in the morning and I thought it was best to watch this reaction😂 thank you for your reaction, can’t wait until you get to 2x14 😊 also, idk if you know your geography well, but if you look closely from when Rumple pricks his finger on the Magic Globe, you can get a little hint as to where Baelfire might be. but you’ll find out next episode too so it doesn’t matter :) can’t wait till then 💞

Hello! Thank you so much once again for another reaction for Once Upon a Time!! As always, I enjoyed your reaction for this episode even if it is among my least favorites from this season. I agree with you about most of the issues with this episode, especially with the flashback scenes. However, I didn't completely hate them all together. First... I do like that we got to explore more of the Land Without Color and Whale's backstory with him being Victor Frankenstein. However, it definitely felt extremely rushed and while I appreciated seeing all the scars and stitches on "Frankenstein's monster", they didn't make sense because there should have only been a long scar along his chest after Victor cut him open to insert the hearts. Now... I do like the scenes between Whale and Ruby. I heard some time ago that it was the creators' plan to originally put Ruby and Whale in a relationship and honestly, I could ship them. :) But sadly, they quickly changed their mind after this episode was already filmed. It's too bad this never happened, but if you saw more than just a friendship brewing between them in this episode, that's why. I appreciated that Ruby was the one to talk Whale down to save him from killing himself, as she encourages him that he has a chance at a new life there in Storybrooke and at being the man he wants to be. This is another popular and strong theme shown throughout the series... having the heroes encouraging those struggling to fight to be who they really want to be despite the pressure on them through those fighting against them. And I absolutely love this. I found the backstory for Victor and his brother interesting, as we see a new twist on the tale of Victor Frankenstein and Frankenstein's monster. However, it just wasn't executed well. Which is too bad, because after such a strong episode like The Doctor, it could have and should have been so much better. I absolutely agree with you on that. But with that being said... I love seeing Rumple come into his story, showing how the events we saw back in episode five, The Doctor... in which Rumple brought Jefferson and Regina into the storyline, came about. Also... Victor's brother sadly killed their father, who was a real piece of work and I was quite happy to see him to get killed. That actor who plays the father... Gregory Itzin, was weak in this show. I agree with you again. But he's always been brilliant for the most part in other shows I've seen him in and always really evil. This actor scares me in a few of his other roles. Now, as far as the Storybrooke storyline goes... I love the brief scenes between Hook and Emma both in the beginning on the street just before she and David saves Hook from getting killed again by Gold, and then again in the hospital as Hook continues to show his bravado despite his pain. He's very smug. And yeah... Hook has always shown some interest in Emma since they first met back in The Doctor and Tallahassee. His interest in her has always been implied. :) Now, as for Cora... I do believe she is genuine in wanting a relationship with her daughter. However, her motivations are twisted and she is nothing but manipulative. She doesn't understand why her daughter doesn't see that she loves her, and I really hate that about Cora's character. Cora doesn't care if she has to hurt her daughter, in order to get what she wants for her. Cora wants everything for Regina, but only for herself because a relationship with her adds to her advantage in gaining power over everyone else. I also agree with you that I can't understand Regina falling for Cora's lies so quickly and accepting her back into her life just like that, after everything. Especially since she was willing to kill her more than once. Their relationship is so twisted and I just don't like it at all. Oh... and as for Cora and Rumple being together in the past as this episode implied... Yuck! I do not like the idea of them being together. But to answer your question about whether or not we knew Rumple had taught Cora... it was briefly mentioned back in season two's episode, We Are Both. Next... I liked that Gold has finally brought up the favor Emma's owes him at this point in the storyline at last. We've been waiting for it since the fourth episode of season one, so it's been a long time coming. And now, he is one step closer to finding his son. It's getting tense and there's lots of trouble going on in Storybrooke. And lastly... Greg Mendell, the outsider... yep, he saw something all right. And somehow, Emma's superpower once again didn't pick up the lie. But he was pretty convincing. Besides, who would admit to a crime, even one as small as texting while driving? Trouble's coming. Oh... And I also really liked the moral choice and argument placed before the heroes as they struggled with deciding what to do with the outsider... to let him die, or to save his life. What a horrible choice to have to make, but what a dilemma. Thank goodness they all made the right decision despite the trouble. Overall... this episode was good, but not great. I still enjoyed it, and I enjoyed your reaction to it. So thank you again, very much! I look forward to the next reaction. Until next time...

I agree with you on this episode! I totally forgot some parts but really remembered other parts. Like I totally forgot that this episode was about Frankenstein’s prequel of the Doctor episode, but I really remembered Rumple and Belle, Emma and everybody concerned about the stranger, the ending with Rumple cashing in his favor from Emma, but like all the bad parts you pointed out I completely forgot about, probably for a reason! And I’ve seen this episode multiple times, so yeah, that says a lot...! LOL Hopefully you enjoy future episodes more, can’t wait for the next!👍
