Aster: Part 2 (Patreon)

OKAY IM FINALLY BACK WITH PART TWO!!! Thank you all so much for your patience and support 🙏 💖 I'm still getting settled in Orlando and my life has been absolute chaos but I have the rest of my Aster progress for yall and I have my Tighnari ear breakdown and pattern coming probably tomorrow!


Making the pants was pretty simple. I used a pattern by Toriander_c for no-front-seam leggings and shortened them. I cut two strips out of the sides and patterned in the gold stripes on the sides. Finally, i sewed 4 buttons to the front.

The best was one of the trickiest things to figure out but it came together so perfectly. I got lucky in Hobby Lobby and found a string of gems that fit the size and shape of his belt pretty closely. Using a heat gun and pliers, I carefully popped the gems out of their settings. I used sharpie to color the gems then sealed then with Rustoleum clear coat. Once they dried, I used e6000 to glue them back in. I found a nice gold chain to attached to the two strings of gems and sized it to fit my waist.

His pink sleeve cape thing was... a big struggle. I really hit a big freaking wall. At first I started with a pirate coat sleeve but it was shaped like a macaroni noodle and it looked so bad. Then I found a coat pattern with a pretty large sleeve but it didn't have a cuff so i had to get creative and make my own. On Aster's pink sleeve, the cuff doesn't function or even look like a real cuff. It's a solid closed piece all the way around with buttons randomly floating on top, not actually buttoning anything together. I... kind of sewed it on like you would a collar? Then I had to make the lapel-ish piece at the top which was also a lot of uh creative problem solving. A lot of it ended up being hand sewn into place. The pink sleeve/cape/thing was then hand sewn to the arm hole of the white blouse.

The finishing touch to Aster was his DUMB ribbons. They're mostly just ribbon layered on ribbon with rhinestones. I hand stitched them into place and sewed his weird little silver circles on.
