Get in! Time for the highlight of my week as depressing as that sounds 😂

Anonymous

It's certainly the highlight of the week in terms of Josh's reactions! I hope you're enjoying it Josh :)

Third!

Alex Horne is an absolute trooper, the hot toothpaste pie is one of the worst things he's ever eaten he said on the Taskmaster Podcast. This is the first example of what will become standard for the show of abusing poor Alex 😂

Michael Harrop

Tree Wizard got joint first place with Roisin so they both got 5 points for that task!

BazMan01

I'm so happy your reacting to this show. When it first came out I think people may not of tuned in as it was on the channel "Dave" which is widely known for showing repeats, rather than original content, so it may not have given off the impression that it was as good as the main stream comedy shows like 8 out of 10 cats etc. But its definitely a show that gains traction through each series and I can't wait for you to enjoy them. Series 2 onwards the show feels much more polished, and there's some great comedians still to come.

Frank hi-fiving that baby brings back memories! Well, sort of. My mum always tells me that she met Frank Skinner when I was a baby in my pushchair. So I don't really remember it, but allegedly that's what happened!

Greg definitely isn't an infallible judge, he goes with his gut so half the fun is debating what should have got more or less points. Always interested to hear how you would have judged a task, or how you might have approached it if you were a competitor. And Pointless is a daytime quiz show with Richard Osman where people try to find the most 'pointless' answer - like the opposite of family fortunes, you want to get the most obscure correct answer. It's a good enough format but not very funny, just casual viewing which is probably why it hasn't been suggested. Maybe you'd enjoy celebrity episodes which feature comedians.

Anonymous

Oh by the way Josh I agree with you about Tim's backwards film deserving more points! But that's a part of the Taskmaster viewing experience, every so often you disagree with Greg's judgement, but there's nothing we can do, he is the Taskmaster! By the way 'Pointless' is a game show hosted by Richard Osman, who appears on Season 2 of Taskmaster despite not being a comedian, he's quite naturally funny though so hopefully you get a chance to see season 2. Pointless is a fairly entertaining game show but not a comedy that you'd react to which is why you wouldn't have heard about.

Pointless is a gameshow. Pointless Celebrities is the celebrity version. There are over 1000 episodes, so I wouldn't start from the beginning but I'd be interested to see you react to an episode chosen at random. If you imagine Family Feud/Family Fortunes but the aim isn't to get the most popular answer, the aim is to get he answer that fewest people said. The ultimate aim is to get the answer(s) that no one said, those being the pointless answers. It's not a comedy but it is comedic in nature, If players get to the final they win a Pointless trophy, if they win the final they win a few pounds and (pre-covid) a handshake from the host. One of the hosts is a gentleman called Richard Osman who is a contestant on the second(?) series of Taskmaster.

please feel free to disagree with greg as the episodes go on! part of the fun of the show is how winning it is not that serious... but at the same time quite serious. all the biggest fans argue daily about how greg scored tasks, and they get a lot more divisive as the show goes on. but i think that's part of the taskmaster charm

luke

another comment, one of the best parts of the show is how interactive it can be. id love to see you talk about how you'd approach the task, so then by the end you can compare yourself to other comtestants and see if you'd be able to go a good job. that's what all us fans do and what makes the fun so much more than a normal show you just watch in silence

Glad you're doing this one, I love this show!

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Romesh and Roisin shared first place in the film segment :) Greg gave them a draw. I love how Frank thought minty tip-ex before toothpaste 😀 Josh if you don't know tipex is correction fluid for mistakes when writing, I think you call it 'white out'? Also, savoury pies are more common than fruit pies over here. Steak and kidney, steak and ale, chicken and mushroom, potato and leek, beef and onion etc. That's why they'd be more likely to guess they were meat pies first of all. Really enjoying these so far:)

Jay

Josh, I don't know if that this has been mentioned before, but Josh Widdicombe was on Who Do You Think You Are recently, where he discovered that he's a descendent of Henry VIII and King Charles the 1st, which pretty much makes him royalty!

Andrew

Ok ok Wednesday has become a good night and that is all I have to say on the matter

TheHigh

👍👍👍

Spooony

On the subject of pies, it's actually a fairly interesting cultural difference between our nations. If you ask an American to think of pies, they will usually default to thinking of sweet fruit pies, if you ask a Brit they will default think of savoury meat pies.

Ian Richards

Oh man, that whole section from 29:04 when Rom starts dishing it out to Roisin! Taskmaster studio banter is the best. "'Ee breached it wiv his oys! That is tecknickly a breach! I'm disgasted!"

Anonymous

Well done on getting the uncensored version!

AfterWorkReactions

He does a good job as a judge, he tries to be fair lol. Oh ok lol that sounds like a good show also, especially with the comedians like you said.

Jade Nepia

I always forget meat pies aren't really a thing in America, seems so strange to me

Anonymous

im surprised roisin conaty didnt just record herself urinating and make it look like she has the worlds most powerful vacuum vag

Anonymous

the backwards challenge reminds me the red dwarf episode

Matgo Styles

I'm really enjoying these reactions. I hope people vote for every season as they all have great moments. By the way if you say 'pie' to a Brit we will almost certainly think of a savoury pie such as Steak & Kidney or Chicken & Mushroom. They are virtually national dishes, typically found served in British pubs and Fish & Chip Shops. Apart from Apple Pie, fruit pies aren't really a big thing over here.

Adam C Turek

I think Josh missed a trick with his reverse film, i'd have had the rope coming out of the fly of my pants and make it look like i was pulling the car with something else.

(Just) Steve

As an American I doubt you know weight in stones. There's 14lbs in 1st, so Greg weighs more than 280lbs.

Keith Pratt

Josh, you've reacted to a couple of 'The Armstrong & Miller Show' sketches on YouTube. Alexander Armstrong is the main host of 'Pointless'.

BigChanChan

Greg has an habit of inviting people he knows or works with on this show and he worked with Rik Mayall on 'Man Down' so there was probably a very good chance Rik would have been invited on Taskmaster as he passed away only a year before Taskmaster's inception... Rik would have been absolutely epic on this show! Roisin, who is also in Man Down obviously appears in this first season of Taskmaster but Mike Wozniak who is also in Man Down is in a later Taskmaster season and is absolutely brilliant in it... Hopefully Man Down can be voted in soon. Its just silly fun like Inbetweeners without the rude innuendo lol with quite a lot of situations from Greg's real life in the show. Dobby from the Peep Show also makes a few appearances in Man Down as well.

Josh

I have never seen Taskmaster before but have beenenjoying it a lot from the reactions. I would definately vote for it again the next poll!

Josh

Ah man that's sad. I would love to see Rik on this.

Steve King

Nerdy fact but technically those locks should be called permutation locks, not combination locks. That's because a permutation is a specific set of numbers in a specific order, whereas a combination is a specific set of numbers but in any order.
