A return to form after season 9, which I just cannot convince myself to like. It's just not for me. And I loved season 8.

Loved the “hosed him down and gave him a hat” line. One of my favourite episodes from series 10

Thomas McDonald

LOVE this episode. A real return to form after a bit of a dud period, for me. I really think the entire Dave era of the show is some of the best Red Dwarf content there is.

Skipped over the reactions to Back to Earth Series 9. It truly was a low point for Red Dwarf, and I prefer to just pretend it never happened. So glad to be able to continue with the RD reactions again :)

JOSH: You were wondering whether they had switched back to models or were still using CGI for the spaceship shots. The answer is that series X-XII all use model shots.

Keith Pratt

Back to Earth was the only "series" not to have a studio audience. I remember not being too into Blade Runner when I first saw it in my teens. I watched it again when I was in my forties and thought it was a masterpiece.

Mike Doel

Agree with all those comments, we are in for a treat with the rest of the episodes :)

Dave was a channel that purely did reruns of old tv shows, mainly BBC when they brought the rights to produce Red Dwarf it was a major turning point, theyve done so so well with recapturing the old magic, its still a little too clean, still a little too well produced but all in all its a really fitting continuation

Daryl

Yay the show I used to love is back!

Michael Harrop

Series 10 is such a huge improvement, better than 7-9 by a long way for me. 'No we just hosed him down and gave him a hat' is up there as one of my favourite Rimmer lines along with 'Over the years I've come to regard you as.... People.... I met'.

If you think about it, when they did Season 9, Red Dwarf hadn’t been on the TV for 9 years, so they probably had to do a reintroduction to take on a new audience. As Dave is a relatively small commercial TV channel, even smaller back then, Season 9 was probably more about testing the waters before committing too much money to a new full Season. Craig Charles was also probably still contracted to working on Condensation Street at the time, so they’d have to convince him to give up his 9 to 5. Glad they all went ahead with new episodes. 🙂

Condensation Street hahahaa

What's the matter? You never watched Condensation Street as a kid? My family and I all used to huddle 'round the TV to watch the latest episode of Condensation Street. We were all dripping with excitement by the end of it!

They never used a 'Canned Laughter’ in Red Dwarf - the studio scenes were recorded in front of a live audience and location scenes are recorded first, and played to the audience in the correct place with the live-studio scenes. Will you react to the Smeg-ups from series 1-6?
