Bean, Spaced or this is England get my votes

Lionhunter

Spaced Spaced Spaced!!

Anonymous

got to be mighty boosh or porridge

Sam Reeves

It feels like Spaced has been on the poll forever and always just misses out. Come on guys, Josh would love it!!

Louis Hessey-Antell

Mid Morning Matters is some of the funniest Partridge stuff ever. Very underrated.

Anonymous

Cmon Porridge, although I'd settle for car share.

Jade Nepia

Man down got dropped? Wtf

Jay

Whoever suggested The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, thank you. It has no chance of winning at the moment, but it's nice to see it on the poll. Such a classic, and something I think Josh would love considering he's into Sci Fi.

Anonymous

I pitched Man Down and Cuckoo several times a year or so ago but they never seemed to gain traction. I regularly vote for This Country (as an ex pat from Cirencester living in Vancouver, it helps with the seasonal homesickness to see familiar streets and faces!) but that too never seems to make the cut.

Anonymous

Shame hello ladies is so far behind, such a good show

Anonymous

Agreed, he would love it. I think he should make it a youtube reaction series as it's so short. It's more like a long movie.

Kieran B

It really does, I joined pretty much at the start of the Patreon and suggested it then, it’s been so long, it’s the perfect Josh show

Anonymous

I really hope Mr bean wins this time

(Just) Steve

Gutted that Man Down and Game On have been removed. :(

ALW

Life's too Short is just amazing.

Anonymous

Didn’t know Wallace and Gromit had anywhere near 22 episodes.

Chris

Car share and Mr bean over spaced. No wonder this world is heading down the toilet.

Ash Jeffries

It doesn't. Not sure where the confusion has led to here. There are 4 standard 30-minute episodes and the feature film. After that it's just related specials *about* Wallace and Gromit and many of them are shorts (only 2 minutes or so). The latter could be reacted to for YouTube perhaps (Copyright permitting.) The Wallace and Gromit "episodes" proper (I mean, they're films really, albeit short ones.) are: A Grand Day Out The Wrong Trousers A Close Shave A Matter of Loaf and Death And Josh could react to The Curse of the Were Rabbit (feature film) as a finale and maybe dig out an Aardman / Wallace and Gromit documentary as a bonus.. Ordinarily, I'd suggest the feature film for Sunday nights but it's part of the series, a good way to conclude, and with so few episodes, it'd make sense to react to it once the 4 main episodes have been watched. Alas, it's pretty academic as it needs to win a poll first and with the sheer number of options for each poll, I think it's unlikely! Shame as it's brilliant (I didn't enjoy the film quite as much but the 30-minute "episodes" are great.

Joe S

Hi mate, you forgot to add Brassic, only 20 episodes 👍

Rob Walters

I'm praying that Steptoe and Son fills a longer show slot as it remains, to me, the best British sitcom ever and people will see for themselves how shamelessly John Sullivan stole from it for Only Fools and Horses - which he openly admitted as it was his favourite show too. It may be a bit hard for the first series as it is very archive (1962) but by series three the characters and situations are excellent, it is hilariously funny and has touching moments of poignancy and pathos - the mark of truly good comedy. Then to watch the two excellent films made in the early seventies would be classic!

Anonymous

This is a heart felt plea that you need to stop these polls! You're already watching Gavin & Stacey... And now it might be Peter Kay! Over Spaced, Garth Marenghi and This Is England. My god. Come on people.

Ash Jeffries

I think Josh would LOVE Sick of It but it's flown under the radar for many people I think so it doesn't pick up the votes! It's Karl Pilkington and completely, inevitably right up Josh's street! I actually preferred it to Ricky Gervais's After Life - it's subtler, less schmaltzy, and funnier IMHO. Just a more honest, believable show! I hope Josh gets to watch it one day! He'd love The Thin Blue Line too knowing how fond he is of Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder, and that kind of humour. I can't say I am a huge fan of Mr Bean but I do think Josh would like it for the same reason! It's pretty universal and is a bit of a British institution. Car Share is great - I love Sian Gibson and of course, she pops up in The League of Gentlemen and Inside No. 9. It's just an easy, happy watch, much like Gavin & Stacey was. I do love the more cerebral stuff (has Yes, Minister been suggested? :p) but it's nice to sit down and watch something light and funny occasionally too. Yes Minister would be amazing for me but it's quite topical humour and I think it might be just *too* UK-specific and political to translate effectively. That said, Josh is a huge fan of Rik Mayall, and I would wholly recommend adding The New Statesman to a poll. I think the humour in that is so brazen, bold, and outrageous, relying on performance and character over issue and subtext in the main that Josh would absolutely love it. It's actually my favourite thing that Rik ever did.

Saul

I never saw it first time around but I voted for Spaced, partly just for the sake of its fans cos they really sold me on it, partly because I've always wanted to give it a proper go, and partly because some of the other competing shows aren't my thing. BTW, is this for shorter shows? I've been hoping Not Going Out might come up, it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Such cheese but often brilliant cheese. What We Do In The Shadows is absolutely brilliant and should be seen by everybody. And I think the focus only on British tv shows is a shame, because there are some pretty terrible British shows coming up in the polls while some of the greatest comedy shows of all-time, Curb, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, etc., fly under the radar. Seems like a shame to pigeonhole this channel in such a way, it'd be nice to open it up to more than purely British stuff. Maybe not much, but at least some.

TheHigh

lot of good ones there!

Saul

It's a hell of a lot better than Derek and After Life imo.

Richard M

Car Share is actually really good and I'm not generally a Peter Kay fan. What will be bad is if the poxy panel/quiz/whatever it is show wins! Or Mr Bean ffs.

lemmy101

Some great options all within the top 5 or so (Peter Kay aside :P) so feeling confident about the future as I expect these will bubble to the top as we go through.

Ash Jeffries

Not Going Out is a guilty pleasure of mine too. It's far sillier and more gag-driven than I generally prefer, and it seems more of an American style format as a result, but it's Lee Mack who despite having an inexorable northern, working-class persona, is one of the cleverest and most quick-witted people ever to hit the small screen. Only Paul Merton might eclipse him......but it's close! :-D

Anonymous

If we don't get some classier stuff soon I'm going to back out I think. All the broad stuff that gets the vote is utter shite! Loved you watching Brass Eye, This Is England and even Only Fools. They're a real bone fide slice of genius writing and character work. I'm sitting here patiently waiting for you to stop watching Gavin & Stacey but if it's Peter Kay next... eeesh. I know voting is a democracy but that can lead to Donald Trump. (I might actually rather spend an afternoon with Trump than James Corden)

Richard M

That is a shame about Game On. That was superb, and had survived the change of actor after the first series, but got a lot weaker when Martin got a girlfriend imo.

Keith Pratt

I second The New Statesman! I re-watched it a few weeks ago, it was the first time I'd seen it since it aired. I thought to myself then that it'd be a good one for Josh to watch.

Lee

We get Josh to watch This is England and then we just don’t get him to follow up with the tv series? Josh will be about 60 by the time he gets to watch it at this rate! I think one of the days should be a drama tv day, bit unfair to have it against light-hearted comedies constantly.

Austin Stratton

Black Mirror still not on these polls?

Ash Jeffries

I think a drama day is a really good idea and one I was considering earlier. I was thinking about how much Line of Duty took off here in the UK and how it would be a great show for a reaction - it's fast paced and action packed, and I think Josh would love it. I also really want to see Josh react to all of the This Is England TV series too, and there'll be lots of other dramas - Spooks? Life on Mars? Ashes to Ashes? Hustle? that are eminently reaction-worthy. We have movie Sunday, how about Drama Saturday when Friday Night Dinner ends? Just an idea, not up to me of course! But it would open up so many opportunities and add variety! :-)

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Fingers crossed for Spaced, This is England, Porridge or The Young Ones. Not sure how Josh would feel about The Young Ones but I think it would make for an interesting reaction.

Anonymous

Spaced 🤞🏼

SP

What did you think of "This Time"? I found it rather underwhelming and gave up halfway through S2.

Kevin Tipcorn

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace doing so poorly is another example as to why the English should not be allowed to vote. I'll keep dipping in for gems like Brass Eye when you do them.

Anonymous

I really hope that Psychoville gets added to the list, would be a great way for you to experience more of The League Of Gentlemens work once that series ends in a few weeks (hopefully prior to their third collaboration Inside Number 9 winning a poll just so that you can see the evolution of their craft over the years for yourself)

Ash Jeffries

The thing is, shows like Darkplace are relatively untrodden ground for most people. The viewing figures for the more mainstream shows are considerably higher so more people have an opinion on them and we predominantly re-watch these shows via Josh than watch them for the first time. If we were watching for the first time, I've no doubt the more......esoteric....for want of a better word....would fare much better. I do think much of the problem is too much choice on one poll and mainstream shows pitted against non-mainstream. I think it'd be a good idea if we could collectively agree on two separate lists maybe and have a "Mainstream Poll" and a "Non-Mainstream Poll" - that way, the mainstream shows are in tighter competition with one another, and the non-mainstream shows get half a chance to win for a change. Brass Eye won but I think that (and The Day Today) are a little more well-known than Darkplace. Not a huge amount in it, and of course it just depends on what else is on the poll at the time and how many shows there are to choose from. I want Psychoville and Inside No. 9 to win a poll.....but they're far more BBC2 than The League of Gentlemen was even at the start - their earlier show gaining a fair bit of traction, so it won and I'm less convinced about their follow up shows, especially Psychoville. If it were on a non-mainstream poll, however...

Danny

I so wish Mr Bean would finally win. It's probably one of the most well known British shows in history worldwide. It's the silly slap stick comedy that Josh loves. Should have won ages ago

Anonymous

How do you suggest a show to be added to the Poll? I would love to see "Goodnight Sweetheart" added, its got everything, great lead actor in Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney from Only Fools) , its funny, great acting by all and Time Travel.

Anonymous

No "yes Prime Minister" :(

luke

it’s always interesting to see how the winners of the polls are never talked about in any of the comment sections. shows the illusion of the loud minority!

Saul

Might just be embarrassment. If I had voted for Some Mothers Do Ave Em to get added I wouldn't admit it either.

Anonymous

I'd add 'Dinnerladies' to the polls too

Ash Jeffries

I'm not averse to Taskmaster winning - I've never watched it so I don't have an opinion on it - but I do feel it'd be a shame to lose out on a complete series of something to a single series of that show.... just seems an uneven deal somehow. As I say though, I've never seen it so maybe it's worth the slot even just for one series.... it's loved by most people who have seen it. If we are going to nominate single series of panel/light entertainment shows like that though, I would suggest QI.... from the beginning. Each series is organised alphabetically so they are in essence, standalone series.... albeit, I would be happy to have 1 night a week on here dedicated to QI in its entirety, right from the beginning.... but that's just me being greedy! :-D

Anonymous

Has anyone mentioned another John Sullivan classic, Just Good Friends, rematched it all a couple of years ago, very enjoyable

Anonymous

I'm going to have to unvote any of my choices that threaten Spaced later this week. :)

Anonymous

This Country is hilarious hope it wins!!

Anonymous

I’m not going to lie , I would love for Peter Kay’s car share to win, it’s so so short, but it’s a very well written show

Alexander Bond

Tough to see the day today with so few votes. Ground breaking program in its day, with Chris Morris and Alan Partridge From the voting so far looks like Mondays will be another dud for me. Also, why is taskmaster even on this poll, it doesn't meet the 26 episodes or less requirement.

ChazWalker

Vote for spaced or ill give ye a chinese burn!

Ash Jeffries

Great to see Black Books so high up. Unlikely to win this time.... but it's a fantastic show that I think Josh would absolutely love! :-D

Anonymous

inside number 9 should be on the list!

Chris

As super Hans once said. People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis, you can't trust people

Anonymous

I see (as usual) there's a lot of people who are so arrogant as to think they KNOW what Josh would like while the people who vote for something else are just idiotic morons who shouldn't be allowed to vote. For the record some of the stuff people vote for aren't things I would watch and some of them high up in the polls I do look at and think "dear me" but I appreciate that this Patreon isn't designed to fit only around me.

Kieran B

So gutting to see Spaced come second again to something new to the poll, feels like years this has been happening 😂 but I still like the stuff that beats it, it’s just that Spaced is iconic

Anonymous

Awww Spaced a little down in the rankings. I liked Peter Kay's Car Share though which is fighting for first. Taskmaster passed me by so will be seeing it for the first time if that wins.

YaDadsDyek

Man, I feel like taskmaster you just watch the best moments of it, a lot of it is boring but I've just seen there is a poll for which series? Does this mean just a single series then move on? If thats the case that seems ideal

Jay

I think Black Books is closest in humour to the IT Crowd, which Josh really enjoyed.

Jay

Oh look, another toxic member. Alot of people are going by what they think Josh will like on what he's enjoyed the most in the past, which has nothing to do with arrogance. As for people voting for something else being "idiotic morons", you're pretty much suggesting that if they vote for what they think Josh will like then you don't like it, whereas if they don't vote for what they think Josh will like, then you still don't like it? In other words, you're just pissed off at everyone having a vote.

Michael Harrop

If Taskmaster wins it has to be series 1, there are better series yes. But seeing the relationship between Greg and Alex evolve is part of the fun of the show. Also series 2 has spoilers for series 1 winner, series 9 spoils series 2 and 7 winners. Among other examples.

Spooony

Disagree about watching a best moments. The best thing about Taskmaster is watching the entire cast get to know eachother over the course of the episodes.

Z is for Zed

I'm with Spooony on this one, I didn't like Tim Key or Desiree Burch before they went on this and suspect I still wouldn't if it was just some clips.

Scott

poor young ones,,

Scott

young ones shouldn't even need to be voted, its bloody rik mayal;

Keith Pratt

Josh wants to watch it as well. I think he should have one night a week where he reacts to a show that he wants to see.

Scott

If she wanted it that bad he would just watch it lol. Looks like we are gonna get Peter Kay, Gone right off him after he cancelled hes live gig, have front row seats for that

Anonymous

You're joking, right? I too had tickets for the return tour and getting them was an absolute nightmare. However, it was cancelled for family reasons and not an easy call for Mr Kay to make I imagine. The show wasn't just shut down because he felt like it. Not sure how you can be that angry at that, especially given it was 4 years ago now.

Scott

He cancelled the tour, but by next week he was filmin car share. Couldn’t of been that depressed

Anonymous

Very thoughtful remark. Maybe watch Friday Night Dinner when it's uploaded this evening. Might cheer you up a bit :))

Scott

Na it’s crap lol

Anonymous

Wallace and Gromit is a good idea 😄

Gary Tamblyn

It’s weird, I didn’t vote for Taskmaster but it’s selected. When I deselect it, go away then come back again (even restart the app) I’ve got a vote against Taskmaster again. 🤔

Kieran B

Yeah the plan is to do a single series; as I think unlike a sitcom which has a narrative it could get very samey to be watching taskmaster back to back for over a year (and I really like taskmaster) - I think if it wins it shouldn’t appear on the next poll as it will drown out stuff like spaced that’s been close to winning since the start of the Patreon - my suggestion was have taskmaster on every other poll after it’s won.

Austin Stratton

Yeah it happens.. I have to vote over and over again for something till it registers. Patreon has a crap embedded poll plug-in

Anonymous

Aaàaaaaaaaand I'm out. Sorry Josh! Wish you all the best dude. Love the channel but the populist voting shenanigans ain't for me. Ciao!
