Herr Lipp is a genius creation! Allez Klaar!! Josh, Reece and Steve are the duo behind Inside No. 9 mate👍🏻

Jay

Great episode, but I forgot about that musical number in the middle part. It was so weird and random, that I'm not quite sure why they kept it in. They've done similar in Psychoville from what I remember, but I don't think it quite worked here. I love the new characters they introduce in series 2 though, and the way they started to introduce a level of genuinely moving pathos with the Greek son having his relationships ruined by his father, and the husband of the swinger in the unhappy relationship. I think this where the show really started to become great.

Josh, you were wondering what Benjamin was dressed as in the previous episode; he was dressed up as Baloo the Bear from The Jungle Book (when he pretends to be an ape and wears a grass skirt and a split coconut).

I don't much care for the musical number. I don't think it really works and it just comes off as weird and out of place. In my head canon, it's Benjamin experiencing a fever dream as he lays in bed.

FUN FACT: The film obsessed doctor is based upon Edgar Wright (director of Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz etc.).

Chris H

I've been getting funny looks from people for years for saying "I can I can't?" whenever I hear someone say "a can of Coke".

ALW

I recently reached the conclusion that 'Pop' is probably the actual most evil character in the entire series. Papa Lazarou is more a force of nature or a demon or something. Pop is just a regular, absolutely evil guy.

Chris H

One minute he's really funny to watch then the next he's absolutely terrifying

Herr Lipp is one of my favorite ever charecters...! The "I slide him my teat" line just has me crying!! I miss this dark dark humour. Nothing like it nowadays. Inside number 9 of course, but that's the same gang anyway.

Tony Smyth

Try Catterick. It's only 6 episodes and freely available on youtube. It features Vic n Bob, Reece Shearsmith, Matt Lucas and more. Imagine LOG written by Vic n Bob... Cos that's what it is.

A lot of people are recommending Inside Number 9 as the next reaction series when League finishes but it might be best to view Shearsmith and Pembertons follow up series Psychoville before starting on Inside Number 9 for reasons I cannot get into without delving into spoiler territory regarding Number 9’s in jokes and nods to the League boys previous works that will not make a lot of sense without context- any Psychoville fans reading this will probably know where Im coming from.

Ash Jeffries

Absolutely agree - Psychoville is so good, quite underrated I think, and it's a really necessary chapter in their work. I would love to see it reacted to and it'd be a perfect replacement for The League of Gentlemen. I adore Inside No. 9 too, but I basically want Josh to see it all - haha - and I agree that it would be better to watch it after Psychoville. :-)

Ash Jeffries

Great reaction Josh! This is a top episode for me, not least because of the Pop sketch where he goes from silly to creepy, to absolutely terrifying in the space of two or three minutes. I think "She doesn't have to eat the chocolate - she can play with the little toy inside!" is one of my favourite lines of the series! Haha! It's a great line anyway but the delivery just makes it even funnier! :p Also, we meet Herr Lipp and he's another fantastic creation. "JUSTIN!!!!!!" :-D Alvin is one of Mark Gatiss's super sad and pathos-driven characters. You've already met Les McQueen of Creme Brulee, now Alvin, and without spoiling, he does others too - he's just very good at those - if anything - slightly nicer characters who are just really rather tragic. :p

Top stuff Josh. Make sure to watch the Christmas special which I think counts as ep 7 in this season as it's one of the best ones!

Steve King

Unfortunately, I tried to watch this but had to turn it of as after 10 minutes Josh's laughing made my flatmates come down and and say "WHAT'S ALL THIS SHOUTING, WE'LL HAVE NO TROUBLE HERE!" I'll try again when they go out at the weekend to some local pubs (for local people)

Michael Harrop

The way I see it: Shearsmith: king of the sinister, creepy and dark characters. Pemberton: king of the outlandish, strange and surreal characters. Gatiss: king of the tragic, downtrodden and empathetic characters

Oh God, I STILL say "I can I can't" in my head when I hear "Can of Coke".
