Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

I enjoyed this episode a few jokes took me a second to get lol. Blackadder talking crap to Baldrick was the best part about this special for me. I would have probably enjoyed Stephan Fry as the king a lot more if I had a bit of information about his reign. Because I missed most of the humour tied to the Kings lines. Or maybe I'm just a dink and should have gotten the jokes either way lol.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below

A lot of the joke about Stephen Fry’s King Charles is that his mannerisms etc are like the current Prince Charles

Steve King

Stephen Fry is doing an Impression of latter day Prince Charles, in his portrayal of King Charles 1st. Hence the laughter at everything his says

Yep, that is more or less THE joke about the characterisation. It's done pretty well, but only to be 'got' if you're familiar with him.

Hi Josh, weird to think I was once one of the patrons pushing for you to watch Blackadder but I've never actually watched this special! I think I'll wait until I watch it myself before I watch your reaction, but I hope you've enjoyed the series in general. I mention this because I'm wondering how many more Blackadder reactions there will be? it's just "Back & Forth" to go I think, or are there more? I'm just asking because I'd like to suggest a show for the next poll; 'Flight of the Conchords', I suggested it in a recent comment, but I've recently rewatched it and it's even better than I remember! I'd love to see it on a poll, just to see if your other patrons share my view, it's a really fantastic show. I hope you consider it anyway, thanks!

Mr K

A lot better than I expected, although the Prince Charles impersonation got old very quickly. Would've been much better without it.

Hi Josh, do you have any plans of how you'll fit the Bottom Live shows into your schedule?

Caine

There were roundheads vs cavaliers but where I'm from we were called clubmen, because if either side comes here they're getting hit with clubs

Some historical trivia!: As Oliver Cromwell was pretty much solely responsible for the death of Charles I , after Cromwell died and Charles II ( Charles I son) ascended to the thrown, Oliver Cromwell's body was ordered to be exhumed and his corpse was hung in chains for public display. His head was then chopped off and stuck on a spike for further display and his body thrown into a pit. The head was then sold between various collectors. The body has never been found, but various people have claimed to have had the head though never been proven to be real

If History doesn't interest you then read no further. The city I live in, Worcester, was the last city to fall in the final battle of the second English Civil War (this episode was about the first Civil War). The motto of Worcester is "Civitas in Bello et Pace Fidelis", which means "The City faithful in war and in peace", often shortened to The Faithful City. The Commandery, which was the headquarters for the Royalists in Worcester still exists today. It was originally built as a hospital/hospice in the 11th century by order of St. Wulfstan. (it's now a museum dedicated to the second Civil War) King Charles II narrowly avoided capture by the Parliamentarian forces by escaping out the back door of his house in Worcester (now known as King Charles House - it's currently a pub). This picture shows just how close he was to capture when troops were banging on the door: https://i.postimg.cc/15L4LqsZ/kch.jpg This plaque is on the front of King Charles House: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fc/Plaque_on_King_Charles_House%2C_Worcester_-_geograph.org.uk_-_355447.jpg

Z is for Zed

You're thinking of Back & Forth.

Stephen Fry is portraying King Charles the 2nd (I think). But with his mannerisms and style of speech he is, in fact, taking the piss out of Prince Charles.

Kieran B

Charles the First, but yep it’s in the manner of Prince Charles

There’s also black adder back and forth which was a Blackadder special made for sky one in 1999. Not the best out of them all but still decent to watch if you’re a black adder fan

Anonymous

Yes I agree worth watching 👍🏻.....just like the first series😉

Kieran B

Where Charles I surrendered to the Scots is just down the road from me, naturally it’s a pub
