Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

When Father Ted was questioned about his expenses I thought they were starting with a flashback about his irregularities. There were so many great moments in this episode. I will just list off my top 5. Father Ted as Hitler in the window. The slide show starting off with Ted and a black guy.The lady spazing out saying good for you father. Miss Doyle decking the entire house out in Nazi stuff and father Jack jumping out of a giant present in an SS uniform. This episode was all-around fantastic I love it.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below

This is such a great episode. The way it captures the way that people can be labelled racist due to one bad error in judgement.

Season 3 of Father Ted is so good all the way through. My favourite has to be Speed 3, you're gonna bust a gut laughing at that one too!

If you wanna see a racist, say hi to my Grandad... he just dropped that one on me in a pub next to a group of black people. Shut up grandad you're going to get us killed :/ But they had the right response to him, apathy.... because someone being racist doesn't actually mean anything. I just don't go out in public with him any more lol, but he's 80odd and will never change now.

Series 3 for my money is the best series - so many good episodes. Great way to end the shows run, even if it was followed by tragedy.

This episode aired barely a fortnight after Dermot Morgan's death, so while there was much sadness at the time, having such a strong opening episode (and series in general) was a fantastic send off. By the way, the opening scene in Dublin wasn't a flashback, it was a fakeout to make you think this series might be set somewhere completely different. (And also to show how even when given a chance at a better life Ted will still mess it up!)

At the start, they weren't showing how he got there. They were showing that he finally got out of the hell hole he was in on craggy Island and into bliss. Then he couldn't help but fuck it up again 😂

I love the ridiculous difference between Ted as we see him in the room talking to Dougal and Ted as the Chinese people see him at the window - in the room he's just getting a bit cross, but from outside looking in he's somehow stood perfectly stock still so the bit of dirt stays above his top lip, all while pounding his fist and doing all the typical Hitler-y gestures.

...It's the kind of joke that Graham Linehan's so good at: taking things that other writers would consider too stupid or illogical and running with them, and making the absurdity part of the humour.

small thing re: the start - it wasn't the origin about how he got there, the joke is he managed to get away from Craggy Island and get to a better parish, presumably because of the Golden Cleric award, then immediately messed it up and ended up back there :P

The Hitler scene always got me. Ted tried to dig himself out of a hole only to make it a lot worse. You would not be able to make an episode like this today. Dermots family had to plead almost with some channels to keep this up as some people today did take it the wrong way and they said he was never a racist and Dermot socialised with everyone from all walks of life. Also the show is preserving their memory of their late father. The episode in a nutshell is a joke that backfired massively and ted just made it worse as he usually unintentionally tends too. This, the mainland, speed 3 and kicking bishop brennan up the arse are the most rewatched episodes of father ted to me. Regarding the joke, I used to laugh a lot st Chris Rock and some of his films, especially when he took the piss out of me with sone of his white people jokes and how we walk and act at times. Some people I know thought Tucker was racist but I said no he just takes the mick out of everyone ( just like Mel Brooks, Richard Prior). Guess what I'm saying is comedy no one is safe but sadly more things today can't be viewed that way. Granted there are things that over step the line and they're not right. But those that aren't sadly get looked at like thet now..

Continued: when I was a kid and watched saved by the bell I got really offended by it and thought it was saying all people with glasses are nerds ( as I got called 4 eyes at school and used to have a short fuse at times back then ). But growing up seeing more comedies like this I finally realised it was about stereotypes and it was poking fun at everyone and I started to understand it more. I did like the college years of saved by the bell. So after that point went back, laughed and realised how wrong I was on it. That's because I was more serious back then.
