You’re the only person I found on YouTube who I’ve ever subscribed to on Patreon, love ya man!

Andrew

LOL you're turning into one of us! Before you know it you'll be craving Walkers Worcester flavored crisps.

Kieran B

Superb, Monster Munch is what Karl took with him on the Idiot Abroad, great to see Tay again

Anonymous

If it’s “Carnarvon” or “Caernarfon” or “Caernarvon”, the normal pronunciation for an English speaker is “kuh-NAR-vun”. I’m sure a native Welsh speaker would pronounce it differently (ie correctly) but if you said “kuh-NAR-vun” everyone would know to where you were referring.

Toby Lewis

Wholesome content. The munchies are what Karl said he’d eat if he went in the magical time machine that made his life perfect, from what I remember

Kieran B

American chocolate is made differently and is kind of less fresh as Tay said, also UK chocolate has to have a minimum of 20% cocoa to be called chocolate, it’s only 10% in the US.

Fred bates

I bloody love you Josh but you cannot compare cabarets chocolate Hershey' lol Hershey's tastes like wax with sugar in it. I love this video. Tay is right American qadri's is different than British cadburys we have more Cocoa in it In the UK by law Hershey's is not classed as chocolate is just classed as confectionery because of the low Cocoa content. I am really glad you enjoyed the UK snacks.

Rob Weetman

should have dunked the hob nob in the tea, proper british then.

slashdisco

American chocolate contains butyric acid, which is also present in animal fat, parmesan, wet dog smell (seriously) and vomit. This is why most Brits and Europeans think US chocolate tastes like sick. The reason for this is that Hershey, way back in the 19th century, developed a process using butyric acid to stabilise milk when it was being transported from dairy farms to chocolate factories (often huge distances, given the size of the US). Americans got so used to the sour, cheesy taste of Hershey's (the market leader) that other chocolatiers copied it... and the distinctive taste of American chocolate was born.

Toby Lewis

If you like the marmite, and you like bouillon cubes, you’d love bovril. Basically marmite made out of beef, and you dissolve it in hot water and make a hot beef drink

Fred bates

Also marmite goes very well with peanut butter.

Rob Weetman

Marmite divides people, you love it or hate it. So much so that it has become a saying over here, "that something is marmite" so some people love something and some people hate something. Personally I hate marmite. You should try Smiths salt and vinegar Square crisps, the ultimate salt and vinegar kick.

slashdisco

You're absolutely right, if you look at any of the Hershey's bars in the UK, they say "milk chocolate FLAVOUR" - in the US they just say "milk chocolate".

Anonymous

Richie: Hobnob? Eddie: No i've got an ordinary one like everyone else!

Anonymous

I grew up around people who loved marmite, and I can’t stand it in anyway. Same for Irnbru. Awesome seeing stuff that’s totally normal for me being experienced by you guys! Also, Hobnobs are the best biscuit for a cuppa, no contest.

Steve King

Does anyone else think Josh didn't realise it was the Welsh national flag and said it was "cool" because it had a dragon on it? :D LOL

Fred bates

It goes very well on crumpets English muffins or toast it goes very nicely with Philadelphia cream cheese on toast or English muffins or crumpets. You only have to use a tiny little bit but if like you say Josh you used to suck on oxo cubes when you were a kid you would probably be classt in the lovers of marmite section

Anonymous

The main ingredient in UK chocolate that makes it so creamy is Cocoa Butter. That’s the most expensive ingredient in there but completely transforms its texture and melting characteristics. Galaxy chocolate is even creamier than Cadbury chocolate because of its higher cocoa butter content. In North America, Cadbury chocolate is made locally under license and has a different recipe which includes polyglycerol polyricinoleate in lieu of some of the cocoa butter to save costs. And Hershey adds a type of acid to their formula which gives it a very distinct taste that European palates haven’t ever really become adapted to.

Anonymous

It's funny you described this is as "luxury chocolate" because all of this is common junk food you can find in any gas station lol

Eddy

I feel at this point you should be made an honorary British citizen lol. And you should see if you can get a bar of Galaxy chocolate. Cadbury's is probably the more common chocolate in the UK, but galaxy is where it's really at. Velvety smooth.

Anonymous

Marmite has to go with butter on toast or crumpets and butter, add only a little bit

Anonymous

karl talks about munchies on the ricky gervais show where he goes in the pod and can live whatever life he wants

Tony Smyth

MORE OF THIS SORT OF THING! (and more of the other sort of thing too if you get enough time.)

Daryl

Fav part of the video. And actually this chip is for you.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Tony Smyth

Irn Bru is the best cure for a serious hangover. I learned that from 3 different Glasweigans, and every single one of them knew what he was talking about.

Anonymous

Is there any way we can change the quality on here as it seems so be in 420p automatically for me :( ?

Anonymous

Karl loves munchies too

Anonymous

Boss that Christopher !. Must’ve cost you a fair bit to ship that over lol. Cheers for contributing to an awesome vid :)

Tony Smyth

Whenever I have a Crunchy I like to suck the chocolate off of it first. You'd probably get arrested if you did that online.

Anonymous

Should've tried the smarties in a bowl with milk!

Tony Smyth

See that jar of Marmite... that's a 2 year supply for a family of 6. ;-) (and whatever's left over after 2 years get's thrown in the bin... it's usually a nearly full jar. The mould around the top can be smoked in a pipe but you try telling that to the judge.

Tony Smyth

I'll stop now.

Anonymous

Lol Josh has now officially ate a (hob) nob at night

Anonymous

Marmite is lovely in a pot noodle imo

Best Pranks 69

I feel like you could’ve gave him a better more a righty of British sweets.

A

I love this!

Anonymous

This was an unexpected video and I'm totally here for it haha

slashdisco

Or even that most basic of flavours in the UK, but virtually unknown in the US... Prawn Cocktail! Or just plain Skips. I'm feeling the urge to compile Josh and Tay a sequel package!

Starlight

Wow this is amazing! I'm from Wales too! (I'm Gaznugget on YT btw) Proud to support this amazing channel!!!

slashdisco

So glad Irn Bru was on here. I've seen so many YouTube videos of Americans, South Koreans, all kinds of nationalities tasting Irn Bru: every single one of them has said exactly what Tay and Josh did: it's like "nothing they've ever tasted before". Makes ya proud to be British (and partic. Scottish). Most of us Brits have grown up with the taste, so it's bizarre to realise other nationalities find it so unique. It also stains your clothes like nothing else. Source: too much vodka and Irn Bru.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Yes! I pestered my mum to get me a Hershey bar years ago to try it. Good god it was nasty lol. It tasted like chalky sick. It was only years later I found out about it actually containing the same enzyme or whatever as vomit 😐

Best Pranks 69

Should’ve sent him some chocolate hobnobs

Peter

I agree, Glengettie tea is aimed at Welsh customers. I know it says UK foods but still if you’re having a cup of tea it has to be a English brand. Yorkshire Tea for the win.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

Great extra video guys and it's nice to see the lovely Tay! Good box of our British stuff 👌 I'm on the side of hating marmite though 🤢 Dairy milk/Cadbury cheap every day chocolate you'll find in any shop that sells chocolate. I used to like it more but it was taken over by Kraft and it's not as nice anymore imo. I prefer Galaxy now, it's really smooth. I was thinking of sending you a little gift box of stuff to try as well (after Xmas when I can afford it lol) I still will but I'll have to rethink what to include now 😀 love that you got to try munchies, revels, monster munch that Karl loves and Hotnobs and Smarties etc. I prefer chocolate hobnobs tbh, I might send you a pack of those if someone else doesn't get there first ☺

Anonymous

Now you'll be able to react to Peter Kay's Hob Nob routine...

Peter

I find it quite sad actually that they have to pump their sweets and chocolate full of crap over in the US. What feels like a fancy chocolate to you is just our everyday, run of the mill bar. I feel Cadbury’s nailed it with their chocolate and are the best in the world. As for marmite, I like Walkers Marmite flavour crisps however I find Marmite from a jar absolutely rotten. Having you put it on my favourite flavour of Walkers crisps and eat them is sacrilege. 😂

Christopher John Williams

It is normal tea, it’s just Welsh tea. Being from Wales I wanted to represent my country as much as possible :)

Christopher John Williams

I was going to but I was worried that they would melt together, in the video they mention that the Munchies had melted a bit.

Trev

Josh, I grew up quite poor, and one of the things I would snack on was Oxo cubes. Beef stock cubes. So when you said that, I was like, "Bruh!!" I also used to eat brown sauce butties (like bbq sauce), sugar butties, banana butties. Butties being sandwiches in North West English parlance. We didn't have much but I'm doing OK for myself. I grew up rich in love, and have empathy, humility and understanding. Mum and Dad did good with what they had. Keep up the fine work, and thanks for keeping us laughing in tough times.

Tony Smyth

Thank you Lewis. Somebody was obviously going to say it eventually but you beat me to it. It's true.

BelladonnicHazeyJaneII

I used to love tomato sauce sarnies and banana sarnies sprinkled with sugar as a kid :) I didn't realise it was a poor food till I was an adult, it seemed perfectly normal. We used to eat the Bovril as well. We only ever had second hand clothes and toys etc but like you, my mum did the very best she could and spoilt us with love and she'd play with us and make up simple games and things we could play without needing much. (My dad was totally disinterested in us and but that's another matter) having love and care more than makes up for the other thing :) I think it's made me grow up to never take things I have now for granted to be honest and there have been times as an adult on the past where I was proper skint (like the electricity going off and having hardly any food for a couple of days at a time) and I coped ok. And I know if I'm ever in that situation again I'll be fine.

Leeroy Nabowitz

interesting we have smarties maltesers crunchie and cadbury barshere in canada too and i love iron bru u can get it here in british aisles of grocery stores

Tony Smyth

Some of us are still confused with the whole Marathon/Snickers debate. Why don't they just use proper names, like Galaxy, Mars, Starbar, Twix, Bounty etc?

TheHigh

awesome , would love to see more !

Anonymous

That's why we call somebody Marmite. You either like them or hate them. No I between at all

Chillin'withSpiders

Marmite is great on a baked potato. Cook the spud, split it, thin layer of Marmite on the insides, fill with grated cheese and bung it back in the oven to melt.

Anonymous

American chocolate has Butyric acid in it, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qWl9Dlts5g

Tony Smyth

A lot of people say it tastes okay. They cal me up and tell me how good it is

Fred bates

Did you realise that is the Welsh national flag? Not just a random dragon lol 🙂

Kevin Liversage

I love watching you two, always cheers me up :) I used to eat beef bouillon cubes too, the most popular brand of it here is called OXO.

Faisal Ramzan

This was a welcomed surprise. Pretty good selection, but next time you need a dark chocolate Hob-nob with a cup of tea. Can't be beaten!

Anonymous

cant watch, says video is private, is it just me?

Danny

Can't watch either. Might be a tiered thing i.e. next sub level

Ryan Lynch

Im on top tier and cant see it

Starlight

It's back now I think he was just sorting the thumbnail :-)

Relyx

Sure hope you dunked a hob nob in your tea before you finished them off! That's how us Brits eat them. The dryness of eating straight biscuits builds up quickly, but some are just perfect for dunking in your cuppa so they soak up just a little bit of tea, for extra flavour, and a softer texture. Also in regards to the versatility of marmite, it's because it is a very good umami flavour, which is why it gets used in so many things where you might want some savoury flavour added.

Relyx

one of the main reasons you can't get irn bru in america is because of the colouring they use i believe. linked to hyperactivity in children or something? which is crazy for a country that still makes marshmallow cereal after we banned them haha.

Relyx

it's kinda crazy because i can eat twiglets until the cows come home, but straight up marmite i've got to be on some real odd ball hankering to go for.

Anonymous

from the uk here really enjoyed the vid!, Yorkshire Tea is the GOAT its so good that the guys at From Software did a dark souls limited edition Yorkshire Tea, one box of the teabags sold at auction for something like £300 for charity. big fan of IRN-BRU here xD in my expert opinion its got a like millionth percentile of ginger in it from the after taste but like a citrus base its legendarily hard to pin down, Marmite is best on buttered toast the dairy undercuts the aftertaste, its also used to like simulate beef flavours in some stuff since its literally yeast extract theres like powdered yeast extract on the roast beef monster munch for example or beef flavour instant noodles, never had straight up marmite on beef but i could imagine it would accentuate the meat flavour. fully agree with the opinion on crunchies i think its down to the actual honey in the honeycomb so you've got sugar + honey + chocolate they're alright with strong tea

Starlight

Don't worry Josh I couldn't get onto the video either it only lasted about an hour it said it was private but then when it came back the thumbnail was new so that must have been what it was :-) Also I'm from Wales and never tried that tea myself looks nice I usually drink Tetley or Yorkshire Tea :-)

Anonymous

This was great stuff I enjoyed it especially the marmite you both surprised me as it's quite strong but you handled it pretty well

Anonymous

Oh and respect to Chris for sending the package

AfterWorkReactions

We really enjoyed the tea! Oh wow that is a whole lot for tea lol. We will have to try the marmite on some toast soon because the tast was very interesting. I think that I liked it more than Tay. I have been hearing it is good on noodles so I am looking forward to trying that.
