Can I ask what your expectations of the audience are? Are you recording this assuming most of your listeners will have watched the pilots as well to follow along, or is the idea more that you're watching these for us to recommend one or the other? Or a mix of both? (I am going somewhere with this but wanted to clarify first)

In that case my one criticism (and for the record I am enjoying the podcast immensely, I listened earlier today and just finished watching all five released episodes of Insecure), is that there is a lot of discussion of little moments in the shows which don't mean much to listeners if they haven't seen it - especially comedic moments. Please don't get me wrong, no one loves talking about tiny moments in television shows I love more than me, but for people who haven't seen the show and have no context for it, they don't really mean anything. (Unless the context is "there is no context for this, so it was bonkers" like the pizzas-from-the-sky notable.)

I hate the patreon page on mobile that makes me post shit before I'm done. Anyway, again, that is my *one* criticism that I probably wouldn't have pointed out if you hadn't explicitly asked for feedback. My other concerns are more with the nature of pilots themselves, especially dramatic pilots, which tend to feel very heavy-handed with characterization and overly expositional when what I love in good drama is subtlety. If I made a list of my favorite dramatic shows and my favorite dramatic pilots they'd be significantly different. But I mean, that can't be helped unless you guys were to make "first season fight" and not even I have time for that.

I do it all the time but it's less about "attracting an audience" and more "sorry but you signed up for this when you wanted to be my friend and I sat through your 40 minute monologue on Waylon's breastfeeding habits so now you're going to hear about The Wire some more" so I don't really have any helpful tips. And to reiterate, I do think the podcast is great and you do talk about more than that and it did remind me that there are options when I open the HBO Now app other than watching Westworld again. Insecure stays strong, and I'm mad that I'm suddenly on a week to week schedule with it.

I watched the first episode insecure, and I have a feeling it will be one of those shows everyone else will enjoy but I'll never be quite sure why. That being said I don't think I could bring myself to ever sit through an episode of Lethal weapon, so my vote would be for insecure.

I've watched all the eps of Insecure to date. I like it as a comedic soap opera of people doing things I would never do and consequently having problems I never have, because I sit inside and play video games and watch TV shows instead of going to clubs and struggling through the dating scene. Which is why I like it. :-) I haven't given Lethal Weapon a try, but then, I've never seen the original movie, either.

Just logged in after awhile and I see you all have a show on Insecure! I haven't listened to this episode yet but Insecure is one of the best new shows out and the season finale put black twitter into a battle of the sexes apocalypse 🔥🔥🔥
