Greetings Adventures,

Welcome once again to this month's summary of activities. As we all know, the Kobolds work tirelessly to add new features, improve the modules, and provide essential frontline support. Let's see what their toils have bought us this month...

What have the interns been up to?

  • D&D 5e system v1.6 has introduced some new advancement features, and this month saw the continuing expansion of those during import.
  • Scale Values: Scale Values are now generated on classes created during character imports. Currently, class features do not use these. This will be implemented in a later update. These are now generated on classes and subclasses when detected in the DDB metadata.
  • An extensive rewrite of some text parsing. DDB Uses a templating tool to swap its own version of scale values into descriptions. A large chunk was rewritten and improved to support scale values better, allowing better support for dice found.
  • The first pass at Background parsing to compendiums. (Undying and God Tier until complete). This currently just generates descriptions and tables. Future enhancements will add advancements, split out background features to their own item, and improve table and description management.
  • Class/feature munch - subclasses are now munched into their own compendium. Feature Advancement is now generated for imported Classes/Subclasses.
  • Auto-Tokenize - a first pass to allow Tokenizer to automatically place the default ring around munched monsters or in a compendium already. This is a _minimum viable implementation_ right now, but more enhancements and refinements are planned.

DDB Importer

Condensed changelog of other changes and fixes

Effects:

  • Greenflame Blade and Booming Blade macros would fail on NPCs when run from the token sheet rather than the actor sheet.
  • Global bonuses could be ints, not strings, breaking effects.
  • Fix draconic resistance effect - if generating hp for effects, now takes class factors into account.
  • Effects: Bardic Inspiration label was incorrect.

Monsters:

  • Try and improve feature parsing on Homebrew monsters with some errant HTML characters.
  • Rings of Protection were not detected when using "experimental attempt to use items instead of setting flat AC". Hide armor is now detected. Natural Armor is now correctly detected in more circumstances.
  • Option to exclude monsters marked as "Legacy" on DDB.
  • Update monster munch notification.
  • Try and reduce custom homebrew language parse fail.
  • Homebrew monsters with no armor description would fail to parse.
  • Prevent Skill Extensions 5e module breaking Monster Munch.
  • Some actor processing could fail if attempting to generate Midi-QoL effects on monsters.

Characters:

  • Clerics with customised spell names would duplicate the spell, marking one as unprepared.
  • If importing DDB Actions as Features, and you had renamed features with a custom name, a conflict could occur with multiple identical named features.
  • If importing Actions as Weapons, hidden actions on DDB will now import as features.
  • Improve handling of "Dueling" fighting style if not using effects.
  • Slightly improved description detection for some actions and features.
  • Extras/Companions import moved and refactored slightly for future enhancements.

Items:

  • Item munch did not always add max dex to armors due to data change.

Spells:

  • Some spells like vampiric touch would add a null damage type (where there was a damage and heal type).

Muncher:

  • Class munch now munches subclasses to separate compendium (new) and adds features as advancements.
  • Race and racial features parsing improved to support Monsters of the Multiverse.

Other:

  • Scale Value and Background support (see above).
  • Some new icons for missing features and spells.
  • Improve linking to SRD Rules when processing.
  • Several iterations and bugs around ScaleValue support.
  • Some parsing could fail if not using English language rule set.
  • Show Players Image had broken - now uses foundry ImagePopout function. An additional option to send to chat was also added.
  • Rewrite settings backend to allow for a "Reset to defaults" mode.
  • Some code cleanup to use a more modern Foundry style for active module checks.

Adventure Muncher

  • In "Out of the Abyss" the 1.1 scene for Velkynvelve is mistakenly spelt "Melkynvelve"
  • Support for MotM and MCV1.
  • Try and improve hanging or partial downloads on Windows. This was a bug that started happening this month and impacted many folk.

Tokenizer

  • Support new Token Variant Art API for image select button.
  • Option to disable OMFG frames appearing in the frame select dialogue.
  • Auto Tokenize (see above).
  • File upload will now hide UI notifications in v9.

What else?

This month, there were a couple of troublesome issues around Adventure Muncher downloads on Windows systems stalling. Hopefully, this is now resolved.

Foundry v10 Support Update

This month delivered a version of v10 that _mostly_ works with the adjusted DDB Importer. It has also bought a bunch of new features around vision and journals. I'm still exploring these and working out how best to handle the generation of Journal entries and links in v10. This will likely be influx till the next v10 release.

What are the kobolds planning for this month?

  • More work for Foundry v10 support.
  • More experiments with Tokenizer to improve layering controls and mask detection.
  • Improve Background Munching to split out Features and Backgrounds.
  • Investigating ways to improve extra generation for Alchemist, Ranger and Summoned creature stats.

Hello, I'm. I'm having some trouble getting the adventure monster to work. On windows, followed all the examples given, but every time I try to download and adventure it says, “error in JavaScript main process.” And I don't know what's going on. I really like the import but I am having trouble with the adventure moncher.
