Greetings Adventures,

Welcome once again to this month’s summary of kobold activities.

This month has been quieter on the releases front, but many cogs have turned behind the scenes.

This  month, the big news is that D&D Beyond was purchased by Wizards of  the Coast. There’s no immediate impact on this module. I know a few  folks at DDB, and they all seem incredibly pleased by the move. I think  it’s positive for D&D in general.

What have the interns been up to?

Tor and  Grimmash have a module of scenes for the Tomb of the Nine Gods - the  final dungeon in Tomb of Annihilation. You can now use the “Enhance  Third Party Scenes” to import monsters and pins onto these scenes. You  can find the foundry module here and for more details see this post

DDB Importer

Headline items:

  • Monster  Overtime Effects: New option to generate effects on monster features.  This tries to create effects where there might be conditions like “DC 18  Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.” It will try and create  MidiQOL Overtime effects for sustained damage, e.g. Flumph tentacles. My  testing shows 503 monsters impacted (I have not checked them all,  sorry). This should target the most basic varieties of these saves, for  example, Poison on Drow crossbow. It won’t do the fancier elements right  now or things which might require a macro.
  • Initial  support for Foundry D&D 5e system v1.6. The new release of the  D&D 5e system adds Backgrounds as a different type and proper  subclass support.
  • Subclass creation for D&D 5e v1.6.
  • Class and subclass add an identifier in D&D 5e v1.6.
  • Experimental Class parsing: basic support for new subclasses. Subclasses are now named “Subclass (Class name)”.
  • Some spell effects, many utilising Active Auras (listed below)

Condensed changelog of other changes and fixes

Effects:

  • Green-Flame Blade, first pass.
  • Cloudkill,  mostly works for testing, although 've had inconsistent results -  please feedback difficulties, it requires Active Auras.
  • Web spell will now use an Active Auras effect if the module is available.
  • Silence spell uses Active Auras if Available.
  • Bladesong. (Thanks @Shyvor)
  • Spells: Grease, Create Bonfire, Black Tentacles, Incendiary Cloud, Insect Plague (all require Active Auras).
  • Adjusted flame blade so the created blade is now equipped.
  • Overtime saves now indicate if Start or End when rolled.

Monsters:

  • Spellcasting ability detection had stopped working in some cases.
  • Innate spells with uses did not always parse uses, e.g. Young Crystal Dragon.
  • Improved detection of save vs damage for creatures using wording like the Quasit.

Characters:

  • Divine fury (and some others) parsed with double damage mods
  • Some changes to support changes to Backgrounds in D&D 5e 1.6.0.
  • Arms of the Astral Self generated extra damage.
  • Shifter race feature adds temphp now.

Items:

  • will now add attunement requirements to the bottom of the description block.

Other:

  • MidiSRD is available to copy from again
  • Typo in settings.
  • Log level not respected.
  • If using the option to not embed macros in items, the Cloudkill macro would fail to load.
  • Some icon improvements
  • [Potentially BREAKING]: Actions are now imported as Features, not Weapons by default.
  • Improved linking to compendium items for spells and items where the data from DDB is tagged.
  • Improve detection of skill links into compendiums.
  • Improve some homebrew feat detection.
  • DDB Config load: now uses proxy
  • Fallback language added for Ziklight.
  • Macros: If using DDB Embedded macros, some combinations could be recursive.
  • Macros: some macros would fail if Monks Active Tiles were placed.

Adventure Muncher

Adventure Changes:

  • IDRotFM: fix up some token names.
  • CotN: v2.
  • DoIP:  Improvements to DoIP: Dwarven Excavation –  Fixes to hidden doors,  adding tiles, adding notes, drawings, dc’s, DM notes. (Thanks @Pariah  Zero )
  • Some  big behind the scenes changes that impact mostly Linux users - I moved  to a new SQLCipher module for SQLLite to allow Adventure Muncher to work  properly on newer Linux distros. This also unblocked some issues  preventing me from using newer Electron and Node versions.
  • Remove “:” from pin names.
A rare loop bug could cause images to be replaced by unexpected images  in some very rare cases. e.g. DC:  Ebondeath’s Mausoleum would be  replaced with the cover image.

Tokenizer

  • Log level not respected.
  • User level override for switching shift-click/default filepicker/tokenizer behaviour.

Grit & Glory

  • Grit  & Glory is a homebrew supplement compiled by Foundry alumni  ApoApostolov. This implements some Gritty features for 5e, and automates  a few of them. This is a small gift to some long time supporters who  asked for some help.

What else?

I did a small holiday with my wife, and it was great!

Foundry v10 Support

A fair  amount of work has gone into getting DDB Importer working on v10.  They’re some exciting new features coming, especially around Journals  that I’m excited to get working for Adventure Muncher. Unfortunately,  blocked by some bugs that prevent core bits of DDB Importer from  working.

DDB Proxy

Some changes were required to DDB Importer and the proxy to support some changes on DDB that stopped some data loading.

Tokenizer

  • A number of failed experiments here.

What are the kobolds planning for this month?

  • More experiments with Tokenizer to improve layering controls and mask detection.
  • More work for Foundry v10 support.
  • Investigate Background munching into compendiums.
  • Some work on adding scale values to classes and subclasses for features.

Thanks

MrPrimate/Jack

I'm quite curious about the future of the project as well, as your tool makes using the site actually worth the money they charge, thank you!
