Hiya there,
I'm back with something of an intermission post!
While I want nothing more than to get to our regularly scheduled development logs after some turbulence last month, admittedly we're at a crossroads right now and I want your input/feedback on what you think we should be doing!
What do I mean by 'crossroads'? Well--as I've been maybe hinting to between dev logs over the last few months, I'm beginning to feel like I'm running the risk of showing absolutely everything in Chapter Two before it even releases. Be it the backgrounds, OST, sprites and even CG/voice acting--I've been showcasing quite a lot of it, eager to show you all how everything has been turning out and continue to show you that the game is developing at a good pace. Perhaps a little too eager, with the dev logs accelerating over time into an almost weekly thing, divulging all sorts of content that you can expect. Which, of course, did seem to go over well with everyone and you all seem to be happy with how much I've been showing!
And while my goal has always been to be communicative and transparent about how things are doing--I'm worried at this point I might end up ruining the mystique behind Chapter Two and all of the remaining content that has yet to be spoiled/revealed! Since if we keep going at the current rate, I'll end up spoiling each and every little element of the game before you ever even get a chance to experience it for yourself! And I would like to avoid that if possible, and keep the experience as fresh and as exciting for you as possible when the release finally comes. (And it will come, honest! Really! Don't look at me like that!)
I've been mulling over several options of how to space out the Chapter Two updates and felt I'm left with several options. Some of which would involve having only a couple of Chapter Two updates a month opposed to 3 or 4--and in the remaining slots, have posts that explored things that wouldn't necessarily spoil the game itself. This would be fun little lore/bio segments on characters, or show old sketches of how characters used to be or how they evolved. Or even other stuff if I could think about it as I went along! Keeping you guys engaged and having fun/interesting stuff is my priority and wouldn't want any dev posts to feel like 'filler' necessarily.
Another option would be to intersperse things with some of my smaller little side projects and maybe talk a little bit about those in between Chapter Two segments. But then I get worried you guys might think those are taking up Chapter Two development time or resources, so try to keep those low profile until they're ready to be shown more. But who knows--maybe you would still like to see a bit about them from time to time to know what sorts of exciting things await you after Chapter Two?
I've put a poll down below, but if you like, you can communicate with me directly via comments or PMs on what you'd like to see be done moving on from here. Ultimately, you're the ones that made this Patreon possible, so I want the Patreon content to be tailored to your own tastes and to focus on the areas that would make you the most happy, rather than just going off and doing my own thing and risk upsetting you all.
Please let me know what you--and in a couple of days after having gathered feedback on the matter, I'll see which course of action I should be taking here!
Thanks again for your time and I hope you've all had a great weekend!
