Ayye LFG! yall are real ones for this!

kel011

Your reaction is a breath of fresh air from all the harsh haters. Its really not as bad as everyone is making it out to be, and what an amazing 1st episode! At the very least, its 100x better than the movie

Chris Bruneau

I think for many people--they are SO jaded by that awful M Night Shamalan film, they attack any live version now. I prefer to give it a chance, and I hope Chad, Maple and Arianna enjoy it!

Rabao

I agree. There are a lot of questionable changes so far (3 episodes in), but I do think most changes are inoffensive, and some small things even make more sense here than in the cartoon.

Not the Taylor Swift reference 😂😂💀💀

Purported74

I have some hold ups because the creators left during production because they weren't being listened to again (which happened behind the scenes with the movie too), I'm excited but apprehensive because what type of ideas did these showrunners come up with and went ahead with to make them quit something this promising at first glance.

Purported74

Knowing what we know about the backstory of Roku, and seeing Aang and Gyatso in the first part of this is so heartbreaking and sweet at the same time.

i just can't see the point. the animated version is already great, there's absolutely no way that this is going to be better. just feels like a worse version of something that already exists, which can be said about most live action adaptations. i cant get excited about something when i don't see its value in the slightest, they just made the show look more boring cut out a lot of the "fat" that made the original so fun. idk, i don't want to be a downer but im just so sick of this obsession with turning good animation into live action when it doesn't do anything to justify its existence other than "look it's real now!"

Ronald Foster

Ahh stepping in this turd I see. Also 3 about an hour long episode for a bad rehash of a great show that you have already seen but only 2 FMA episodes that are each less than 25 min? Lame.

TokyoLopez

my only qualm was the script at times, some of the dialogue could’ve worked 1:1 from the animated show, and would’ve been fine, but it does look beautiful for the sets it has, and the attire looks awesome. my niece loves it so far, she likes aang a lot and appa

Stanley Etienne

Please don't waste your time watching this show. Post more episodes of FMA, one of the greatest shows ever.

Don’t let the antis ruin this for you! Half of them haven’t even watched it! Outside of some jarring writing decisions, it’s a solid watch and you’ll definitely enjoy it i feel…

Ietseatapples

yea I agree, it doesn't really feel like it needs to exist. Like.. we all know when a book is adapted on screen, its almost certainly going to be a "worse" version, but we enjoy it because its giving life to the story in an entirely new medium.... But in this case, just going from animation to live action isn't of itself bringing enough to the table. Its still a moving picture. So its just a mixed bag retelling. Honestly, my favorite part have been the bts interviews of the kids, cuz they seem cute (especially Aangs actor, he's adorable)

Colorado people’s press

The script, child acting, editing, it was so rough, I was so hopeful and so disappointed

i really don’t care about what bitter old people think though. you made your mind up before you watched the series and that’ll just be the truth.

John Cedar

Aight, if you're gonna discount "bitter old people", then how about the opinion of a well informed young person? What does someone's age have to do with this? I doubt anyone over 35 even cares about the original show at all. The dialogue is bad. It sounds like a script, not how someone would talk. ESPECIALLY not how children talk. The original's strength (and the strength of most good stories) was the relationship between the characters. They have believable friendships, conflicts, and team-ups that feel earned. The voice acting and jokes were always stellar. ATLA and Korra are still legitimately funny as an adult. This remake fails really bad in these most important aspects. The dialogue is stiff, and these kids are very green actors so they do not have the expertise to try and compensate for this like some of the adult actors can. Even so, there is a lot of unnecessary exposition, and a lot of the characterization of the main cast is very one dimensional. I can go on and on about that part for a long time tbh. The VFX, set/costume design, fight choreography, and general plot points are good. They did a good job of altering the plot to keep it fresh for new viewers as far as what HAPPENS, but the reactions and interactions that the characters have on the way to get there are very dry. I'm wondering if the main writers even have kids, because it's just so unnatural. All the characters talk in the same way, which is as if they are reading out of a history book or something. The IMDB rating went from 9.2 to around 7.5 last I checked, in less than a week. So I'd say the diehard fans are the ones who are jumping to conclusions about the quality of the show, and as people are actually watching it, the score is going down. I'll be curious to see where it finally lands. (If you're looking to discount my opinion and not think about it, just talk about how "I typed an essay" and call me a hater, that should work)

if you genuinely thought i was going to read and refute what you said in the comment section on a patreon account that i pay for, you clearly must’ve lost it.

John Cedar

It's ok bro, I get it. Thinking about stuff and backing up what you say is hard. It's much easier to just say things and then ignore people when they give you a reasonable response. If only we could all just turn our brains completely off and not think about silly things like writing or performances like you can 😂😂😂

j ives

you wanting to argue over cringe dialogue and the fact they had eight episodes won’t be negating the fact that they’re still getting a season two and you’re STILL bitter 😭

Cornelius Ukena

LFG! 😁 So pumped for this! Is this a perfect show? No, but it's honestly a ton of fun and they are so clearly setting themselves up to finish strong. A young, relatively unknown cast both finding themselves professionally and as these characters. There are going to be some missteps, but from a story telling standpoint this reimagining is really bringing a lot to the table. Frankly I think anyone that hate's on this show and loves Harry Potter needs to get the fuck out. At almost every level this show matches the quality and vibe of the early HP films (ok, no one can match a John Williams score) and it's insane to me how intent people seem to be to find some excuse to outright dismiss this show as "bad." Hope you two continue to enjoy the show and can't wait to watch the rest of the reactions! p.s. - To anyone who thinks I'm interested in an argument about HP being better or worse than this show—don't. They can both be great. That's my take.
