Let's all make sure we hold Maple accountable for the flat out disrespect show to the man Bob!

If it's any consolation for the toxic Billy thirst, his actor, Dacre Montgomery, is a very nice Australian man (who looks even better without the mullet). 😂

Always irks me that Jonathan didn't know the chick at the party was Siouxsie Soux. He has eclectic music taste so I think he would know Siouxsie & The Banshees.

Eric Wallace

Ladies were 100% correct on the alcohol take, but it's 1985 in the show and that wasn't a given thing then

The stop the car moment to talk about Maple encouraging a love triangle was hilarious. To be fair, the first time I saw season two I was also like "where did this Bob guy come from? Get out of the way."

I know I'm late, but I thought I'd throw out a couple comments about Hopper because I love him. Apologies now because this gets long-winded. You have to kind of piece together the breadcrumbs, but you can infer from his comments about soldiers and PTSD that he was a soldier as well, during the Vietnam era. From some other comments, it sounds like he may have been a bit of a slacker in school, cutting classes to smoke, etc. I'm thinking he either joined the military or was drafted pretty soon after highschool, served in the war, and when he got out he came back to "the city," kinda near home, but not back to the small town of Hawkins. He got into law enforcement, quite common for ex-military, met his wife, and started his family. Then when they lost their child, the couple wasn't able to hold together, also unfortunately common after a tragedy, and Hopper retreated back to the last stable ground available. The sleepy, backwater town where nothing ever happens. A place where, I would guess, he never expected to return. And that's where we meet him, trying to drown his emotions in booze, pills, cigarettes, and the inanity of small town policing. In a place where everyone knows him, most know what's happened to him, but very few, if anyone, understand his suffering. Jim Hopper is a wild man. He definitely has flaws, but the fact that he's able to be loving, compassionate, and bring his intelligence and investigative skills to bear on all the craziness that is Hawkins after everything that he's seen, done, and survived, is very remarkable. I think it speaks to amazing strength of character in Jim, as well as stubbornness, and a dogged belligerence to just keep going. Like I said, he has flaws, and we get to see them, but I still love him anyway! I think Maple's theory about the food in the woods being a kind of offering or memorial for Hopper's daughter is interesting, but I ultimately don't think that's what happened. Again, you have to kind of piece it together because the timeline is cut up, but I think Jim left the food out after the incident with the hunter. Eleven is hiding out in the woods after the events of season 1, living off the land. We see it's starting to get snowy and cold. She knocks out this hunter and steals his cold weather gear, the hunter then probably reports this kid in the woods to the police. Jim publicly blows the situation off but secretly knows who the mysterious kid is, and starts leaving food in the box. We see it even snowier when Jim leaves the food. Then eventually they meet at the box and he takes her in. That's how it played out in my head at least. TLDR: Hopper is a beast, the fact he isn't a completely broken wreck after everything he went through before the show is amazing! I'm guessing the hunter reported a weird kid in the woods stealing his stuff and Hopper put two and two together and started leaving food for El. Apologies for the dissertation.
