Fabulous x I received your letter today... Lady Jane Nair You made me feel very special 💕. But seriously I really loved receiving it... now I feel part of the family x Much love to everyone ❤ Jane x

So excited for this video!! I’d like to make a special request, if I may: would it be possible to have all the tile drawings placed in order on a wall so we can see the “before” of it? Just to get a better idea of the visual? Thank you for sharing this wonderful project - so excited to see how it turns out! ❤️

Anonymous

Your Dad’s figures are so happy and expressive. Glad Steve is doing the project.

Anonymous

Are you going to keep the original fountain or will Steve do an interpretation of the now fountain area.

Anonymous

I wanted to insert a photo of why I liked the figures your father created. I have 3 plates with the same type of characters but circus figures. I’m not that computer literate.

Anonymous

So much fun to see the whole conversation and cannot wait to watch along as the design comes to life!

Anonymous

Enjoy this puzzle, Steve! I think you should continue as his wall sketch intended. You are blessed with so many artists in your life that you will find the right set of people to bring this to life.

Anonymous

This is going to be a great story

Anonymous

You look so happy seeing your dads work come to fruition in the tile :)

Anonymous

A fabulous project, will be watching progress with anticipation!

Anonymous

this is so amazing! such a privilege to see the whole conversation regarding your father's vision for the tiles. I always enjoy this format.

Anonymous

Your Dad's tile designs look amazing, I can't wait to see the final project. Steve , in my opinion, is the perfect choice to carry on your Father's vision.

Anonymous

Have a great week ,stay safe and healthy.

Anonymous

The tiles are going to add so much life to an already vivacious gathering spot!

Anonymous

It’s just wonderful that Steve is so on the wavelength with you & your father ...he is really going to do justice with the drawings. Your Father obviously had a good sense of humour Stephanie & a good understanding of human nature! . It’s going to take some time but it’s going to be so worth it. How fantastic that your Father still continues to be part of the chateau.

Anonymous

Does Stephanie play golf? Then where did she get a Masters green jacket?

Susan Hagadon

Friendly Tip: At before and during the LIVE that people should refrain from chatting amongst each other and just saying their greeting. Otherwise no one will be able to keep up the the questions. Hugs

Anonymous

It looks like a wonderful project. I would be interested in purchasing a tile for my collection. Have you considered funding the project by having patrons sponsor a tile?

Anonymous

Mummy will have some wonderful memories to add to all of those tiles, perhaps she can help Steve also.

Anonymous

For Eastern USA , we are six hours behind., so the live chat would be at 10:15 am

Anonymous

These tiles are going to transform your kitchen even more! Steve is the man for the job, so good luck. I also was wondering if you had thought of having each tile "sponsored" ?? Also, what was your fathers given name?

Anonymous

Gonna be great ♥️

Anonymous

That was fun! Stephanie, you appear to be in a very good place with your Dad's tile artwork. Time heals. It's going to be fantastic!

Anonymous

Looks like this very important tile project that your Dad started is in Steve’s capable hands. Excellent news! Can’t wait to see it.

Anonymous

I wish you the best on this very exciting but complex project. You may think about using a wall somewhere as a staging area for the work. You can use a large white paper background cut to the measurement of the area above the ranges and attach that to the wall. This way you won't have to get down on the floor and you will see the work at eye level which will make it much easier to manipulate and photograph as you go along. Just make sure you use an adhesive that is easily removable. There are many such items on the market.

Anonymous

What an exciting project! You asked a question at the end about how much of this is your father and how much is a collaboration. You can document the whole process so your Father's contribution will never be questioned. I think he had every intention of finishing it with all the various elements of Lalande, so I believe you should let Steve get a sense of your Father's style and allow him to at least create mock ups of things that your father hadn't gotten around to creating yet. Then you and Mummy can have a think about it and decide what the finished product will be. I would also love for Steve to create characters of the many people who you consider family, like Percy, Marie Wiik, Natie, Selmar, etc., for you to put up in the kitchen, maybe on another wall? Having them memorialized in the style of your Father's playful characters would be so perfect. Given all that is happening at the chateau this year, Christmas 2021 will be nothing short of spectacular. Love you, Stephanie! <3 P.S. You should have 4 extra copies of the tiled mural made. One for you, one for Mummy, one for Gerald, and one extra for the chateau, in case any tiles get damaged and need to be replaced. <3

Anonymous

I can’t wait to see this process. Wow!

Anonymous

The tiles can be different sizes.

Anonymous

what a wonderful project , can't wait for the updates! Greetings from San Francisco!

Carrie Miller

Since tiles are so heavy and cumbersome, perhaps it might be worthwhile to have a canvas or paper print made of the finished design to frame for your London apartment.

Anonymous

Thank you for both the updates. It is very interesting and demonstrates the level of attention that is required to make dreams a reality.

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, just a suggestion, the original drawings feel so precious, maybe frame them “as is” also. It would be a reminder of your father’s process and it would, I think, be fascinating for other people to see it hanging in a big wall in the chateau and not live in a box somewhere. Thanks for sharing it with us ❤️❤️❤️

Anonymous

I love the long videoes! I find them so informative and interresting. I really hope a book of your fathers art will be made. I am In love with his artistic style, humor and creativety. P.s. Please let Phillip get a hedghog 😊😊😊

Julia Cobb

How wonderful to have so much of your father’s work done especially for LaLande! The child in him really is on display with the May pole dance, milk maid, and gardener such a sense of humor! I’m so happy you are having this done now. Waiting with baited breath. I like the idea of sponsoring a tile a lot.

Anonymous

What a very talented man your Father was Stephanie. The ideas he had were so breath taking and I am so very pleased you kept them all. Steve has a big job on hand but oh so worth it. Bon Chance Steve with this great project, I cannot wait to see the end result. Thank you Stephanie for the insight of this wonderful artist, your Father and what a memory. Love from the Dordogne xxx

Anonymous

I just wondered if the original cap stones for the moat have fallen in, could they be retrieved? Alternatively could equivalent cap stones be sourced from the dry moat or as part of the floor you’ve taken up, just to keep it authentic as much as possible?

Anonymous

This has been an absolute joy to watch. Your father was sooo talented! It has been very worth becoming a patreon( for such a small contribution) to be able to see in more detail the process of all the projects. Well done Stephanie on this update. It must have been a tad emotional. Hoping to visit in the future😘

Anonymous

It's fascinating to see your creative minds in action. Your father was so talented! It's a joy to watch and can't wait to see the progress reports along the way.... 🤩♥️

Anonymous

Just brilliant xx it’s going to look amazing xx looking forward to seeing the end product xx 🥰🏰

Anonymous

Rather surprised that a British film crew can be there during French Covid lockdown.

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie. You've probably already heard about it but H&M has a few dresses with the peacock wallpaper pattern on it. https://www2.hm.com/nl_be/productpage.0878972002.html

Anonymous

This is thrilling. I can’t wait to see it as it progresses!!

Anonymous

How wonderful that Steve will be able to digitize Daddy's tile designs. How magnificent it will be once done. Thank you for letting us in on the longer planning session. I absolutely love feeling being a part of it all. Much love.

Anonymous

Thanks for sharing the uncut versions of both planning sessions. I really enjoy watching the creative process. Learning more about how the topography around the chateau should inform the design was really interesting as well as seeing more of your father's work. The ceramics on the wall of the kitchen will be stunning and so special to know that you completed his vision.

Sunday QnA is for Patreon only or on YouTube ?

Anonymous

Steve is the perfect artist for this project. I’m so glad you’re proceeding with it’s completion. Like others have mentioned, you might wish to frame a paper version of the tiles or frame the original sketches. I love the idea of sponsored tiles or even choosing a few characters tiles that patrons (and others) can purchase for download. Funds could go to support your new Foundation or set up an Artist Residency for the Chateau. I’d love to own one for my kitchen.

Anonymous

This is your father's toile style. Incredible.

Anonymous

I hope you keep your father’s original sketches & don’t alter them.

Julie Chittenden

Having lost my dad in 2004, this made me really emotional but in a happy way. I love that this is going to be completed. And Steve is a great person to complete this. Claudette - Knowing how much the original sketches mean to Stephanie, I'm sure that any alterations would not be done on the original sketches. They will have thought about that already. :)

Anonymous

This is a beautiful tribute for for your father. Steve is very knowledgeable for this project. It will be very exciting to see the progress as Steve progress's with this project.

Anonymous

Leaving your father’s art as permanent piece of the chateau is great. Have you thought of using the Steve’s peacock logo as plasterwork over a fireplace or the emblem over the front door? The peacocks are now such an intrigal part of your chateau.

Anonymous

Steve will do a great job I'm sure! So exciting :)

Anonymous

How wonderful it is that the perfect person for the perfect task always falls into the Chateau's life! Its clear that Steve will bring Daddy's vision to life!

Anonymous

hello stephanie, can we submit questions for the sunday live here as well? i have been rewatching some old vlogs and i have three random questions, i'll try: 1. when kat was clearing out the future china pantry, she found some old plans of another chateau and you wanted to contact the owner of this chateau to give them the plans, did that happen? is there a story? 2. in your vlog about the dining room transformation you talked about wanting to use de gournay wallpaper but not being able to afford it back then, then you showed an old photo from during the restoration of you holding up a panel of what looks like de gournay wallpaper up to the wall. was that the same wallpaper you bought for the downstairs loo and/or what happened to it? 3. in the same vlog, about the dining room restauration you said you had been planning to make door (?) curtains for so long and that you would finally make them that winter, did you? thanks :)

Anonymous

stephanie has one already - they were from last summer :)

Anonymous

she mentioned it on the normal vlog too, so open to all

Anonymous

This was an absolute joy to watch! It will take time! You really do need to dedicate a room to spread out all the pieces on the floor, table and wall. Work it like a puzzle! A work of love , a work in progress to last for generations!

Anonymous

I think I'm just a bit sad thinking about how often the ones over the working cooktops will get dirty with grease and grime, but that's chateau life, I guess? I wonder if they can be made with very scratch/scrub resistant surfaces, extra tough. Also, should you consider having two sets printed in case of heat or other types of damage?

Denise Behrends

The adoration for your father and his work is reflected in your eyes as you sort through the tile drawings. Steve so eloquently expresses being part of “the joy of bringing something to life that is so precious to you and is so important to the house.” Thank you for including all of us in this behind-the-scenes process as well.

Anonymous

Thank you Stephanie, a joy to wath...Steven is the right man to bring his work a live.🥰

Anonymous

Is there going to be a Vineyard?

Anonymous

I'm so glad this project is going forward. I have loved the concept since you first shared it.

Anonymous

wow what an amazing and touching project! I must admit that I'm a little (ok, a lot) jealous of Steve because it's like a dream project to work on for me, it's everything I like, so much fun and artistic!! I'm sure it will look amazing and can't wait to see the progress and the final result!

Anonymous

Excellent idea. The chatting fills up the feed so quickly that it becomes impossible to follow.

Anonymous

You don't have to be an artist to see what your father put into this project. But I am one myself and I can practically join in his love and fascination for this project. It didn't happen overnight and I'll bet he just loved being lost in it. Bravo for taking it over and may he look down to inspire and celebrate it with you.

Anonymous

Thank you Stephanie, Steve and Philip, for such a wonderful vlog, I so enjoyed being “included” in the reminiscing and discussion, as the first steps are being taken on this exciting project. Being able to install your father’s wonderful art at Chateau de LaLande will be an extraordinary accomplishment. Well done! I look forward to many happy updates on this wonderful project.

Anonymous

It will look amazing when it is finished & put into place! What talent!!!

Anonymous

This was such a moving and uplifting vlog. What an absolutely stunning, living memorial. Thank you so much for sharing the process.

Anna Ibarra

Seems as the person for the job comes at a great time. Lockdown should help Steve keep busy. That dainty task is in amazing hands. Steve you the man. Look forward to seeing progress. Agree, sponsoring a tile would be a fantastic idea. 👌🏼

Anonymous

Stephanie have you ever looked up the artist Björn Wiinblad, your father's work shares some of the same attributes.

Sharon cole

Stephanie looks the most excited with her fathers work then all the projects. She will cry when thay have the unveiling of it on the wall .am very excited about this project just makes me smile seeing all the characters 😊x

Sharon cole

Its so touching seeing stephanie setting her fathers work up .stephanie's father would be so proud of her and how far she has come with lalande. Its amazing she was all most alone for 16 years before we all jumped on board for this very exciting adventure. Thank you to stephanie for allowing us to share your lalande and to everyone who lives and works there to make this happen and allowing to share your lifes 💖

Melissa M Thiessen

I love love love your daddies art work. I can sit and stare at the large ones for ages. There are so many details to every one of them. And the colors OH MY GOLLIES! Thank you for sharing.

Anonymous

I think the character walking the chicken may have been your Dad visualizing Selmar, there are even circles resembling hair around the characters head! : )

Anonymous

How amazing would this mural be, made in true transferware style?? Mr. Jarvis's beautiful art in cobalt blue on porcelain tile. 💙💙💙

Anonymous

I cannot wait to see the tiles and the finished product!
