Loved all your ideas. Beautiful and practical. Such an exciting time😊

Anonymous

Bring it on 2021! So very exciting!

Anonymous

Pull out shelves halfway down in the China pantry would be useful

Anonymous

Tres bien, very exciting! Love these types of videos, I like learning more about the "admin" of planning and how you choose your priorities. Thanks Steph xx

Anonymous

This was great! I really like this style a lot. Thanks Stephanie for how you include your Patreons.

Anonymous

I think this format is fine as: - it is real - makes us feel part of the process

Anonymous

This was really interesting to watch, to see the thought processes and differences it would all make to the Chateau.

Anonymous

Love these types of video’s

Anonymous

Unedited is just fine, it’s great to feel part of the process. Exciting prospects ahead, wonderful to share in the renovation x

Anonymous

I enjoy the process 💖

Anonymous

Loved the update and great to hear the discussions (and Michaels design ideas)! as it felt like we were there with you all. It was like being a fly on the wall 🤣 Bring on 2021 where it sounds like LaLande will have storage galore. Cat defo needs to return to do her version of Marie Kondo sorting out! If it doesn’t spark joy it won’t get a place in the new cupboards and shelves! As always thanks for the update. 😁

Anonymous

Love these. And I recognize this is the brainstorming part of the process. Ideas will percolate and someone will suggest something no one has thought of, and it might just be the best thing since sliced bread 😊. Happy New Year Stephanie. Looking forward to seeing what 2021 has in store for you and Lalande!

Anonymous

I actually liked listening into the full conversation a lot. As ideas were tossed in and we were able to hear it all gave a great time saving too. Plus it truly is your home and we all need to hear what you especially want or do not want. I vote to keep our conversations like this for awhile. So exciting and so darn much to do !! I am looking forward to watching the entire thing blossom ! Thank you !

Anonymous

I'm all in!

Anonymous

Does the little pony wall beside the refrigerator serve any purpose? It would be nice to remove it

Anonymous

Im hoping to increase my patron level this year as I both appreciate the restoration and have truly benefited form these blogs.

Anonymous

Personally I loved listening to the planning process and the input from all involved. It makes me feel part of the whole "chateau story".

Anonymous

Loved the feeling of being a fly on the wall, listen to the ideas and thought process going into each project. Exciting times !

Anonymous

This was a delightful video. I enjoyed hearing your discussions and the thinking that is going into designing each room.

Anonymous

The video was perfect the way it was. ❤️

Anonymous

I really liked the brainstorming format. It was great to see all the ideas and which ones stick. I wouldn't think other types of videos need to be like this though. So excited for all of this

Anonymous

The video is perfect exactly as you made it. So fun to listen to you and the others talk through it all! :)

Anonymous

I enjoyed this very much

Anonymous

Loved the video and don’t think there needs to be any formatting changes. I was thinking that in the butler’s pantry area, you may want to consider a 3rd small bin for composting. Since it’s something that Selmar, Mummy and Dan are starting next year!

Anonymous

Sounds great I definitely think new doors and windows will help with the winter months 💗

Anonymous

I loved the format, Stephanie! I love just hearing all of you brainstorming and being the fly on the wall! I'm very excited for all the changes that will happen in 2021!

Anonymous

I like being part of the process as you decide on the renovations. It's really interesting. Looking forward to Davy and his garden plans x

Susan Hagadon

I loved being a fly on the wall; hearing the ideas and how you will bring it to fruition!

Anonymous

Love seeing the decision process when you're going round with the experts. Exciting plans 🤩

Anonymous

I loved being standing next to all of you and visualizing each challenge and solution as you moved through the various rooms. It was so satisfying and enjoyable to be included so my thought is not to change the format. Collaboration is the result of talent, vision and execution. You have brought all of us along on the beginning of a journey that will certainly be great fun as well as a great learning experience.

Anonymous

Love this. I am more interested in this material. It balances out the plethora of social activity and cadeau openings. Though I love all of the uploads, I did find that I was missing attention to the restoration and preservation of the treasure that is Lalande. Thank you so much for including us in this process. Happy New Year. Better days are ahead.

Maria Soberanis

Great ideas. Love that the chateau will have library and secret doors. Secret passageways in castles are so cool. Nice to see the whole decision making process and that Michael was in there with some great ideas like a sneaky drinks cupboard.

Andi_ish

I so enjoyed this! Thank you for taking us along for the tour. Looking forward to part 2!

Anonymous

please share as much as you can of behind the scenes and planning/doing stuff. I find it so inspiring and interesting❤️

Anonymous

I enjoyed it and felt I was involved 😄 Fly on the wall 🪰Great ideas for the Chateau x

Anonymous

Do t forget the divider on top of the island to designate Marie’s area😂

Anonymous

Great format and exciting plans!

Anonymous

I loved being a fly on the wall. It was very interesting to hear all your discussions and ideas. Do you have a floor plan of the area from the kitchen to the China pantry that you don’t mind sharing? I was trying to picture where all the rooms are? Thank you for sharing 🏰🙂

Anonymous

I love these ideas! I can’t wait to see the process start!! By the way I really enjoyed watching the full decision making process. I can see all of your ideas separately instead of getting the final project decision.

Anonymous

Love this type of video! Thank you for sharing with us all the planning. ONE IDEA for you: can a small cart be built/hidden within the china pantry island so that when you need to move all that china, silverware, vases, etc you pull out the cart, load it up and wheel it to the dining room. Same after it’s washed, load it back on the cart to return it to the china pantry. Just a thought I had.

Anonymous

I loved being part of the walk around, I think that maybe whomever is recording just needs to pan to the area you are talking about, or if it is easier, you Stephanie stand by the area (like you do with the secret bar), so we get an idea. I can't wait to see the pantry room! So exciting!

Anonymous

The China pantry has to give a nod to its past as the dairy! The best way and most stylish would be a MILK BOTTLE CHANDELIER. I found two, one has the look of full bottles of milk, but the best one is three tiers of empty bottles upside down. Sadly can’t put any pictures up anywhere, But type milk bottle chandelier into google that look at images and your see them...

Anonymous

We’ll be there in September, if COVID allows. Can’t wait to see what progress has been made!

Anonymous

Personally, I loved listening to the planning of it all. Hearing all the ideas. Love the secret doors in the winter salon. Especially the new bar area.

Anonymous

I am excited to hear about all the improvements in the coming year. Planning is so much fun, the execution though, can be a pain in the posterior! Butlers pantry, I think, should have open shelves as cupboard doors have to open and space is limited. As it's a small room, just close the door to keep any untidiness out of sight. It is a working kitchen anyway and most large kitchens have open shelving for easy accessibility. Love the ideas for the library too. Secret doors will be wonderful. I noticed that the curtain on one of the doorways was blowing fiercely so there needs to have a door made to fit. Must be bitterly cold in winter so what about the heating? Open fire would be a little dangerous if the room is full of books? I can hardly wait for part 2 when you and Davy discuss the plans for the gardens. Love to all from Down Under in Tasmania! Anne

Anonymous

So exciting! I loved this style of video, just listening in to all of the planning.

Anonymous

I can imagine in future someone saying, "where's Michael?" and he'd be hiding in the bar, having a quiet moment!

Anonymous

I love this format! Restoration works are some of my favourite parts to watch, and I love seeing so much of the planning!! I'm thrilled for all the improvements coming in 2021!

Anonymous

So many awesome things! As for the video formats, I love whatever you put out. We just love the process, we love you and all the Lalanders and their thoughts. One of the things I do is to take a photo of the rooms, then find photos of similar items Im wanting to install and photoshop it in to get an idea of what things may look like. I wonder if the developers/designers of the rooms will have an app that can simulate the design of what things might look like? It often helps owners know how to proceed when you have that visual.

Anonymous

Please do this again, loved hearing everyone's thoughts to bring it all together, when it's finished it'll look fabulous. Seeing your wonderful plans has helped cheer up a miserable day. We are going into tier 4, here in South Somerset, UK. Good luck with the plans, and a very Happy New Years to all.

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie i like this format. Its nice to hear your process. 2021 looks to be an exciting year. Cant wait for part II. All the best

Anonymous

Loved the format of this. It was fun tagging along as the brainstorming and visualizing led to concrete decisions. I'm so looking forward to seeing the projects get underway. Besides how fantastic the changes will look, good storage makes my heart happy :)

Anonymous

This is perfect. No snap required. Loving the minutia !

Anonymous

So exciting! So happy to hear of some of the plans for 2021. Also: loved this format. Many good vibes and wishes for an amazing 2021 for both you and LaLande.

Emma Young

Really enjoyed the video, great to see how your ideas evolve.

Anonymous

Hopefully Hash can get costings for each project so we have some idea of how much will need to be raised for each project. All very exciting!

Anonymous

As a designer, I thoroughly enjoyed this format.

Anonymous

I think it was perfect the way you did that video, seamed natural. I realy liked it.

Anonymous

I liked feeling apart of it and didn't mind it being not snappy! Lol

Anonymous

I too loved this video!! I am so excited to see each of the plans come about!

Anonymous

I am a brand-new patron, so I have not caught up yet with all the fun behind-the-scenes extras and videos, but I really liked this video format, feeling more immersed in all the brainstorming and planning. I love learning about the logistics! And it's illuminating to hear how you are all focused on keeping the spirit of the chateau present while also making it more functional for the day-to-day management and living. And I am very excited about the library (being a librarian myself!), so that is a long-term project to look forward to. Happy New Year, everyone!

Anonymous

What a privilege to be part of these discussions! I felt like a silent but fully engaged participant who is being included in decisions that will make a big difference to the chateau. Thank you for this, Stephanie!

Anonymous

Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed being apart of the behind the scenes planning and thought process for these areas. Excited to see the work begin. Happy New Year to you and everyone

Anonymous

Stephanie I loved this! Thank you for always making each one of us feel so special ❤️

Anonymous

Living vicariously through you🥰

Anonymous

Very exciting. Enjoyed the brainstorming format. Happy New Year to everyone.

Anonymous

I enjoyed this being part of the “conversation “… Lots of exciting plans! Now go dry your hair so you don’t get another infection! xoxo

Anonymous

Please, do whatever you feel like doing. We love all the videos! I rather enjoy the mix and this less-edited version kind of felt like an extra treat into the "behind the scenes" planning. It's really exciting to hear all these future projects discussed!

Anonymous

Lovely to hear about all the new plans! So excited to hear about the garden plans. The longer chatty style is relaxed and candid. Very nice!

Anonymous

I thoroughly enjoyed this! It's very exciting to feel like you are right there, as you all chat through the nitty-gritty. 2021 is going to be an exciting year!

Anonymous

I noticed only 5 likes...does the little heart act as a like? I don’t see a like button ☺️

Anonymous

Hello, I was thinking you might consider rolling carts to transport items from the China pantry to the kitchen and setting up dining tables then to the washing up and return to the China pantry. Also helpful to carry food. I have three in my own home for laundry kitchen and storage room.

Anonymous

I loved this format as a patron, it really felt like we were in on the decision making process and understand your thoughts. I’m so excited for you.

Anonymous

Really enjoyed the video - great to see the planning process and your thoughts and ideas, so looking to seeing the plans come together. Have a wonderful New Year celebration and hopefully 2021 will be the best year ever for LaLande and for everyone in the community- stay safe and well. 🇦🇺🍾🥂

Anonymous

Happy New Year xxx. I loved this behind the scenes video. Much love xxx

Anonymous

I keep thinking about the heating system, and if something could be done to better warm up the Chateau. I know its one more of the unvisible, boring things - but still rather important 🙂

Anonymous

I absolutely loved being part of this. Thank you so much for sharing

Anonymous

The process is always interesting to me. Really liked this format. SO Exciting!!!

Anonymous

Please continue this informative style of post. It is a great pleasure to see & hear the plans for the restoration of the chateau. A prime pleasure is your competency and that of the people you have gathered around you. We don't watch idiots or prima donnas. We are privileged to travel along with hard working, creative people who enjoy their work. Hurrah for you all, may your relationships and shared efforts bring you even more pleasure and successful business in the coming years. Louise

Anonymous

Loved all the ideas - especially the hidden drinks cabinet! The fly on the wall format is good to watch. I see you’ve kidnapped Philips’s hedgehog!

Anonymous

It is very interesting to hear the entire decision-making process

Anonymous

Great ideas for the upcoming projects! It was great being able to see everyone brainstorming ideas (my favourite is the hidden bar). Can’t wait to see them all come to life. Pat

Anonymous

It is great being part of the decision process. Thank you so much.

Anonymous

This is just so much fun ♥️👍

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, I really liked this walk around style video with your planning session. I liked all the plans you came up with for each space, and the order in which you plan to work on each space. In the library, if you have any really old or delicate books in your collection, you could tuck those away behind the paintings to keep them safe. You have so many artisctic people following you here on Patreon, maybe someone can either find or make a sweet little French dairy sign to put on the door of the china pantry, so people will understand what that room once was back in the day. You guys are doing a wonderful job getting everything organized. Looking forward to your next post. <3

Anonymous

Very interesting. It is such a big part of the house and history, all the planning in purpose of meeting the needs and the ambiance in the best way. Love it!

Anonymous

Loved the video just they way you did it! Looking forward to all the changes. Happy New Year from Sisters Oregon

Anonymous

Don’t edit. Love hearing the actual discussions. ❤️❤️

Anonymous

I enjoyed this format for topics like this. The collaborative exchange of ideas was very interesting.

Anonymous

❤️❤️loved it Stephanie ❤️❤️ so interesting and exciting.

Anonymous

Design input: consider putting sliding doors on ball bearing on the eye-level cabinets in the china room. Although they limit access to the storage, they don't endanger one's head getting in and out of the cabinets. Therefore one is less likely to drop the china or crystal. Silver polishing might be a function of the china room, especially if you plan to secure it for silver storage. A sink to supply warm water would facilitate the polishing and might be a worthy addition to the space.

Anonymous

Oh this is an excellently hysterical idea. I think every room needs something a bit quirky in it. It would certainly spark a conversation and provide that little nod to its past!

Anonymous

Whichever format of video you do, I will watch! Do what works for you, thanks for bringing us along!

Anonymous

Love the planning stage of any project and am excited to follow along. For the china pantry, can you have an area, perhaps under one side of the island, filled with nothing but pull out dowel rod to hang freshly pressed table cloths? It would also make selecting them much easier. ( Much like a pant/slack hanger in a closet.) I have a ton of cloths that always seemed to get wrinkled when stacking them on shelves. Last, what about lighting in the library...will you have anything on the upper book shelves? Will a chandelier be enough to light the books on those shelves? Perhaps plan for some lighting for them - much like a light over a piece of art. Great for ambience too. Thank you Stephanie for giving the Chateau so much love.

Anonymous

Absolutely love listening to all the decision making and idea throwing around. The brisk ones are nice when we’ve missed the conversation and you’re just catching us up but it’s so lovely to feel apart of the discussions! Thank you for doing both and for your consideration in asking us what we’d like to see.

Anonymous

I think some people watch within YouTube where you can hit the like button but most do so within the app/patreon which does not click the YouTube like button. It doesn’t really matter for private videos (which these ones are).

Anonymous

I really enjoyed the conversations and what you needed and wanted in each room. More please!

Anonymous

Erin Lauriston Thank you❤️❤️

Anonymous

I loved hearing all the discussions! I so look forward to seeing all the updates!

Anonymous

I really Liked this format Stephanie and listening to you guys planning it all. You guys are all so talented and. The only idea I did not like was making the curtains flush with the bookcases. But I am not a designer so what would I know

Anonymous

I love this format. I think it's interesting and rewarding to see all stages of the process. Happy new year!

Anonymous

I love this format. Being able to see the process is part of the fun! So many wonderful things happening in 2021!

Anonymous

The open discussion is a great format! Love the idea of the china displayed above and corresponding directly below the bulk of it. I am going to steal that for my china cabinet, and hopefully my butler's pantry once I get a functional food pantry. Storing all of my china in boxes is not any fun.

Anonymous

To answer your question, Stephanie... I Loved this format. It was interesting and felt intimate and engaging to be in the room with you guys whilst you discussed all the details and plans. I would love to see more videos like this as you move through all the renovations. I love planning, restoration, architecture, and design, and have spent many years involved in such, which is part of the reason I loved this. But also, as a Patron, it felt very thoughtful that you would include us in this way. And I’m assuming most others would feel the same. We love walking with you through all the processes. The only downside I could perhaps see would be that you’ll get lots of opinions 😄 on the threads here. But that can be fun, too!! And you are always so gracious about things like that. Speaking of opinions...LOL... I just wanted to say that the composite countertops these days are gorgeous. There are vast ranges of styles and prices and quality. Many of the nicer ones can look so authentic, like real marble, granite, slate etc. It’s hard to tell they are not real stone. So you’ll definitely find a beautiful selection, one that you perhaps can carry over into the kitchen, proper, if in any way you might need some counter-ing in there as well.. to extend cohesion in the design plan. So looking forward to seeing it all come to fruition, and the library ladder in the butler’s pantry will be so charming!! Love to you, and all at Lalande. ❤️🌺

Anonymous

Quite enjoyed the discussion. That way I can say things like "yes yes, an island so you can stage the china setting" to the tv, and have you confirm a moment later! :) such fun! Steve recommends a wheeled tea trolley to moving the settings room to room....

Anonymous

Love this one! As is. Love the back and forth of it all. 😎

Anonymous

Love it! Loved this format. How exciting for Lalande!!!!!

Anonymous

I loved this. Thankyou for allowing us to be flies on your walls.😉🤣 The newyear is going to be so interesting. 🌠HAPPY NEWYEAR LALANDE🌠🎶🥳

Anonymous

Thank you for walking us around and discussing the wish lists for each of the rooms! I love this format of being a fly on the wall :-) Plus it sounds like it might be less editing for you! Win! Win! So much fun to dream about how these rooms can look and the best part is it looks like everything will come to fruition in time. I am wondering about the progress of the floor in the loo near the kitchen. You may not have had a chance to work on finding the correct tile as you were producing a video each day!!! One question I have about the drinks area in the library between the 2 rooms - it seems like you need a bit of countertop to set the glasses down, pour and garnish the drinks. Was this talked about? Brilliant ideas all around. You are blessed with talented people all around. Big love & hugs from Texas! Happiest of new year's to you Stephanie, your family and friends, and all the Lalanders xo

Anonymous

Loved this format . Felt like being part of the discussion and in on the projects from the beginning. Looking forward to the progress in 2021

Anonymous

Love all the plans. I enjoy these chats but Naty please show us the views of the room we are talking about rather than those talking about it as we can listen but we can’t see. Thanks. Love the ideas of the ladder and drinks cupboard. Looking forward to seeing Davy’s plans for the garden. Love from Chateau de la Linsen here in Melbourne xo

Anonymous

Thank you for this video Stephanie. I really enjoyed being part of the conversations, looking forward to seeing all the projects. We cant get enough, you might as well have a live cam LOL no editing needed. Very exciting and happy for you all. The Chateau is looking more beautiful each day.

Anonymous

loved the way the video was edited! Very exited for the future library

Anonymous

I like the longer video format. It helps me understand the thought process behind the choices you are making. I think the winter salon is going to look great. Can you show some additional pix of what your inspiration is for each space? Happy 2021!

Anonymous

Loved the video and the discussion of the upgrades! It actually gave me ideas which I can apply myself. Keep doing this!

Anonymous

I loved this!! Looking at it makes me itch to get in and organize! You will enjoy so much putting everything in it's new, proper, lovely place! Love the idea of the secret doors and drinks cabinet and ladder, will be beautiful! Please record as much detail as possible, nothing of this process would be boring for me at all!! So happy for all of your 2021 plans!

Anonymous

Fascinating to follow along, see the process and witness the discussions.I love this format. Happy New Year! .

Anonymous

I like this format. I just love all the details and seeing the thought process in action. One idea I had and you might have addressed it off camera, but in moving all the porcelain to its own space, you might want to plan in a trolley to transport it safely back and forth. Moving it on trays could be calamitous! A place to park it in the room would be a necessity. It will take up space, but I suspect it would be worth it in the long run.

Anonymous

Au naturel discussions is great, it feels like we're apart of the decision making and ideas created right in the moment. I'm most excited for the china pantry and the library! how exciting!

Anonymous

Love the video format

It’s very nice to have this format every now and then. Looking forward to the exciting changes. Thank you very much for sharing this.

Kelly Kehoe Nichols

This was wonderful! So exciting. Thank you for bringing us along for the ride. ♥️

Jane Nunn

Steph where will all the paintings and things on the walls go when the library completed? will you have to remove the curtains due to full shelves? Agree to keep existing book cases. YES! secret drinks cabinet Michael!

I loved this format. It feels like being part of the decision making. It’s good to see how everyone’s mind works and the actual realities of the planning process. You’ll have to have Oliver come and paint some cows for the china pantry.

Anonymous

Aaaahhhh! All these wonderful changes ❤️ I can’t wait to be there in person someday soon!!!!

Anonymous

Loved this format

Anonymous

Loved the format and so enjoyed 'being a part' of the discussions and decisions. This sort of thing is so much fun and a great way to see what is happening!!!

Daniel Hammond

I enjoyed this video. Hinging the paintings is a great idea. It means you are maintaining the amount of shelving available for books while keeping your father's paintings where you want them. One thing I did smile at. I was admiring your hat, Stephanie. Thinking, 'what a splendid turban' and I was half way through the video before I realised it was a towel! Have a fabulous New Year's Eve!

Anonymous

Every single detail is so exciting! You have obviously been thinking about these projects for a long time! Now your dreams are becoming reality, and I can’t wait! Love this format - thank you for taking us with you on this renovation journey! ❤️

Anonymous

Thank you for including us. We know that you have been very patient with starting these projects. I liked this format so we understand your thoughts. Please do what is easier for you. As a stager for homes it was easy for me to follow the plans. Wishing you the very best in 2021.

Anonymous

Thanks so much Steph, loved this video. Can’t wait to see it all come together.

Anonymous

I Can never get enough😊😊😊 So longer videoes and more behinde the scene is a WIN WIN 🥰 Thank you for making them❤️

Anonymous

Thank you for this information and sharing your thoughts on the transformation of the kitchen and prep area. What about the pantry area, pots and pans for cooking and cooking utensils and knives?

Pam Mastin

C this was a great way to do the videos. It allowed has allowed us to hear it all and see it all.in

Anonymous

This was a good update. I like the way you all talked through the ideas and let us in on what's happening.

Anonymous

I loved feeling a part of the discussion with all the ideas from everyone. So exciting to hear the changes coming. yay!!!

Theresa Romero

I am loving this! It will be so wonderful to see your plans unfold! One thought that came to me: The cutlery drawers can perhaps be lined with anti-tarnish felt.

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, I enjoyed the format used in this video. I felt as if I were part of the process . I love all your ideas and plans for the new year! I do so enjoy being a part of LaLande!

Anonymous

Loved this update - so interesting being a fly-on-the-wall while you chat through plans and ideas. Exciting things ahead!

Anonymous

Love this style of video

Theresa Romero

Another thought is that, although the double-paned windows will make it warmer, I wonder if you may also want to add any more radiators.

Anonymous

How wonderful to have such experts in their fields available to you! It's amazing to me you can store enough food in the fridges/freezers you have. It would be pretty to have the cabinet interiors painted white or yellow to keep them light inside. You could use a couple of mats on the floor in areas breakage is most likely to occur (standing mats for kitchens)

Anonymous

Enjoyed the chat flows nicely and naturally as in real time. I felt like I was there with you all! You were two steps ahead as I would have mentioned this or that as a suggestion as you each mentioned! Wonderful format.

Theresa Romero

This is so exciting! I loved hearing about all your plans, and look forward to hearing about the plans Davy and you two make, outside! PS-Michael Potts is so handsome and charming.

Anonymous

Won't the cookbooks up in the air above the stove get all steamy? Wouldn't it be better to have them down low where the 1970s cabinets are? And I'm not sure I understand how these thick hidden doors can pivot in corners and both directions in doorways.

Anonymous

I very much enjoyed this conversation about your plans. Such fun to hear about them. Please don't spend too much time editing.

Anonymous

Perfect Stephanie, thank you for sharing with us the planning process. Also good to see both you and Michael working together with Hash and Davy to plan everything and see your decisive side in the process. Hope all goes well to plan and you can get these projects done in 2021.

Anonymous

This is going to be so great! And it was fun to watch you all talk about the ideas and plans for each area. Very exciting!

Anonymous

I really enjoyed feeling a part of the process. So looking forward to seeing everything come together. Best wishes and keep warm!

Anonymous

I now know why radiators are under windows. I have been wondering. Thank you! This video was excellent. No need for editing. The thought process is interesting.

Anonymous

Great video! I look forward to seeing the library.

Vive le château de Lalande 2021!

Janese Carstens

I loved this format, Stephanie! It really felt as if I were a part of Team Lalande. I can't wait for it all to come together. Amis d'Henri 🥰

Anonymous

Great overview of the plans! Curious to know how much of this will be funded from your hard work on your vlogs, SJ, and whether or not your other investors in the chateau will be contributing, too?

Anonymous

The video was very interesting felt like I was there walking listening on the decision. I even felt the cold air coming through the last bit. It was fun to hear all the things going on. Like the format.

I am a detail person and so I LOVED this video. More like this please. Happy new year. X

Anonymous

I liked this format as well as your other format. The other is fun, and this is as if we're there dealing with the things that you have to deal with.

Anonymous

Oh yes the longer the video went on the clearer the sound of wind became! *shiver*

Anonymous

I like this. I enjoyed being part of the conversation. Choosing a format depending on the content should work well.

Anonymous

Oh I loved this format! I have loved the Advent videos, but this felt like being back at LaLande!

Anonymous

Love the format. Been in many such planning discussions, and I love hearing the details. A quick note on secret bookshelf doors for the library. I'm assuming you all mean the kind that are essentially a bookshelf that opens. If so, I worked in a location that had these. They are ridiculously fun. However we had two problems with ours. They become extremely heavy, so even with excellent hardware, they become burdensome to open and close. For your situation, perhaps have it look like a wall with shelves above and below, and beautiful paneling in the middle. Art can be hung on the paneling section, and overall the door is more functional, while still being a secret. The other problem we had was that fingers regularly got trapped while trying to close the doors. Stephanie...there was blood, there were casts, there were stitches. Part of our problem was that they had tried to build these odd, flat metal hidden handles that were impossible to grab. If you have a full bookshelf door, pop to the charity shops and find a quirky but sturdy metal statue, and have Hash's folks bolt it to a shelf to act as a handle. My final thought is just to try and keep passageway doors wide enough for a wheelchair. God forbid, but invariably someone sprains or breaks something, and if all the passageways have had their lower sections filled with shelves, you're up a creek, so to speak. Upper shelves, for delightful drinks cabinets and treasures are great though. Thank you for sharing!

Good format to draw us all in and feel part of the process. Even better if it makes easier for "Editing Stephanie". Exciting times!

Anonymous

hi Stephanie. loved this video.. feels like being there and being a partnof all the fantastic changes coming.. so exciting for you.. and us .. xx

Anonymous

Good point! Maybe a wood stove insert for the fireplace.....with a big window so you could see the beautiful fire 🥰🔥 (also its more efficient heating to keep the room dry)

Anonymous

So interesting, exciting to visualise these changes to the chateau, have you, Michael and Nick ever struggled to compromise on a specific development? x

Anonymous

Loved the natural chatty format of this video. The plans are wonderfully excited!!

Anonymous

A great way of showcasing the future plans. As a Patreon who joined at the beginning of the journey, part of the frustration has been COVID delays. Those delays will continue for the foreseeable future, so planning for the future is a positive move forward.

Anonymous

I love all your formats! It was great listening to the 4 of you planning & brainstorming (5 including Nati🥰) A large area carpet would make the china pantry cozier/warmer and break the fall if (heaven forbid) something drops🙀Also sliding glass doors would be a space saver on the display cupboards and can be made with the small wooden panes. (see Nicholas Fairford‘s vlog “Lets do a house tour”) I’m really excited for you!💕 You deserve all the success that comes your way!! 💕 It will be fun to see the progress in person with each visit😍😍 (as soon as travel gets back to normal😉)

Anonymous

I loved the format Stephanie & really felt part of it ... and yes ...even felt the cold coming through like the others. Ha! The best part, of course, is that whilst we all feel excited about all this ... for you it must feel truly wonderful & I’m sure that gives everyone the best feeling ever💕

Anonymous

Loved this format. So exciting to be part of the wonderful changes that will be taking place’

Anonymous

I get the impression that, although the garden design may be his focus, Davy has a lot to offer in terms of his architectural knowledge and historical appreciation. I look forward to hearing more of his input.

Anonymous

I concur with everyone else that the format was great and really allowed us to feel as if we were there with you in the room during the discussions. Regarding the washing up room, would it not make more sense to use stainless steel for the sinks and surfaces directly surrounding the space to make them as durable as possible. The rest of the surfaces/counters could be done in a quartz or composite that connect to the stainless steel. It just makes sense to have a surface that can manage the high volume of washing that is done year round in that space. For the pantry, any thought in having the cabinets painted in a historic yellow? You could use the color either on the exterior, interior, or both? Not only is it your favorite color it would just be a ray of sunshine every time you entered the space. Thanks so much for sharing with us the plans and process. It all sounds great and I am very much looking forward to seeing all the improvements over the course of 2021!

Really enjoyed this vlog and seeing the planning, made me feel involved. So many wonderful things happening next year it’s so exciting. Loved all the ideas and plans. Thanks Stephanie and a happy new year to you and all xx

Hi Stefanie, I enjoyed this format very much, it makes me more involved and back in Lalande as it was. Planning, deciding with Cat clearing out the China pantry already...lot of laughter ! Some quastions about the cokerybook shelfs..it it not easy to crab those from high above even with a ladder and maybe the books will get damp end filty, it is more a nice area for lovely porcelein behind closed glass doors. But at the other hand were to put them elseweare. Isnt there just by the entrance staircase to your mothers appartement un option for a bookshelf or closed bookcase just were the coats are hanging? These ones you can hang more in the back?? It is just an idea... The books are more in between the kitchen and the China pantry. Second question, but this involved filming...when you are tolking about an area ( this was more in the library) the camera stays focused on you and Rash, but it is nice to went the camera once more in the direction where you tolked about and back...but this is diffecult I think because you can get a more moving picture. Well this was a long story..lots of love and hope that it will all start soon. Andiexxx

It's wonderful that your hard work which led to these videos being so sucessful that in turn led to the creation of the Patreon account has resulted in your being able to bring the chateau back to life and the way you always imagined. We maybe have helped but you have helped us too and you certainly deserve it as few vloggers work so hard and take so much into account their patrons. Can't wait to see it all happen! Happy New Year Lalande and hugs to you Stephanie and team xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Anonymous

Great video, can't wait to see all the changes! Thank you for picking us all up and bringing us into fairytale La Land X

Anonymous

Stephanie, thank you so much for sharing this Patreon video. So, so very excited about all the changes, it will be so much user friendly for you all at the Chateau. It will take time but the plan has begun. Also so very pleased for you as its been a long time coming. I feel part of this and its lovely to have been included. Love to you all at La Lande xxxxx

Anonymous

Thanks for including us in the reno conversations! One idea: A window/glass panel (think of kitchen doors in a restaurant) would work well for the new door near the frig.

Enjoyed being involved . So interesting. So exciting 😊😊😊

I really enjoyed watching this. Hurry up and get it all done - I can't wait to see the end results! x

Hello Stephanie, and HAPPY new year!!! I just enjoyed listening to you guys whilst I am baking chocolate muffins for the kids for our new years eve party.... decorated with lots of gold "2021", gold dust, and gold antique clocks at 12...you'd like them! Anyway, Yes I like this format. Firstly I enjoy just listening to the chatter whilst being able to do things in the house, like a podcast. Also what I think we all adore about you is that you don't have an image consultant or advisor, what we see is you and it is your personality that has made your vlog a hit. We genuinely like you and enjoy being a fly on the wall and not just see perfectly edited material. That is why the blooper vlog was so fun too, not only funny, but we see your true personalities in your humour. Personally I was relieved to hear you swear (though beeped out, heh he) So yes, just film or record conversations, I LOVE it. I could listen to you talk about anything actually! That makes me sound like a mad fan, but I am actually just as talkative myself and about your age, so it is like getting together with a good friend :-D Slightly mad though of course, all the best are. Happy new year to all of you from me in Norway, I have some SERIOUS fireworks to send up tonight, purchased yesterday, soooo excited! xxx

Yes I loved the format. I'm really excited to see the work start, it going to look amazing. Happy New Year 🥰

Anonymous

Really liked the sense of being involved and a natural observer of the planning discussions. If possible could some of the storage be on hinges that enable 'pull down' to save using the ladders all the time?

Anonymous

Hello Stephanie. At the time of writing there are already an amazing 225 comments on this thread so I apologise if I’m repeating something someone else has already suggested. The rotted away gaps that we saw at the bottom of the outside doors opposite the entry to the china pantry. I mean wow, no wonder there’s such a cold draft coming through! As an idea for a quick and cheap temporary fix ‘till you get new doors made does Selmar have some scrap timber he could use to make a couple of kickplate type panels he could bolt to the bottom of the doors to cover the gaps? And maybe on the inside panel he could also screw some of the brush type draft excluder that hardware stores sell?

Anonymous

Loved the format xx

Anonymous

This is SO EXCITING! I love this format. It feels like we're in the room, part of the discussion. Plus I'm learning a lot and getting inspiration I can use in a small way in my own house. Joy and Perfection!!

Anonymous

Wendy I’m wondering if it wasn’t realistic to pan the room at that particular time as it was being filmed while the electricity was out and they had no lighting?

Anonymous

I also was wondering about some muted lighting for the bookshelves. LED lighting offers so many possibilities now for creating subtle and cost efficient lighting solutions.

Anonymous

Loved the video, it’s great to be involved at this level! Something different too, to the normal Chateau Diaries. Happy New Year to you all, lots of love xxxx

Anonymous

I absolutely loved this! I felt so included as if I were in the rooms with you all! Please keep the lengthy videos going. It’s such a privilege to be involved 💛🧡

This was a great video and great format - thank you.......the funniest bit was Nati giving a 'thumbs up' to the kitchen wash-up being completed first !! Happy New Year to everyone at LaLande.

Hi Stephanie. I really enjoyed seeing the planning and how it comes about. I personally don't mind a longer film when it has so much interesting discussion. A very exciting time in the history of Lalande and I'm really looking forward to seeing it all come to fruition. I really hope filming for ETTC DIY doesn't hinder us following this as it happens.

Anonymous

I wish you and yours a very happy, healthy New Year! Houses are a never-ending project, aren't they?? So interesting.

Anonymous

Personally I really enjoyed being able to hear the planning suggestions. Think it will make us all feel more involved and will make our appreciation of the finished rooms more comprehensive. Also we get the opportunity to see the rooms in more detail which I really enjoyed! Thank you!!

Anonymous

I really enjoyed this format. Like many others have stated “I felt as if I were there with you being part of the process”. Thanks for making our dark times brighter.

Anonymous

Fantastic format! It’s really useful all those fun ideas as I’m starting the fun part of designing my basement kitchen in my large Georgian house. I think it will be something similar to your kitchen but with an Aga. (Michael’s aga vlogs helped make up my mind and decide to take the plunge and invest in one). All the best!!

Anonymous

Loved this interesting and informative format x it’s lovely being part of the future of Lalande x love your ideas x

Anonymous

I think Michael’s concern about the flooring is valid. Anything dropped will break or be damaged. Why not consider a vinyl that looks like stone. The luxury vinyl flooring that is out now is very realistic.

Anonymous

Great vlog love this format, the plans are great looking forward to how they come to life!

Anonymous

I really enjoy your longer videos, so I loved the discussion we got to hear about your plans. How exciting!!!

Anonymous

Interesting and informative, loved it.

Anonymous

Less edited is fine in my opinion. Keeps it more “real” and in the moment and has to make it a bit easier for you as well, I would imagine. A win/win. The plans sound fantastic!

Anonymous

Great vlog- I enjoy this format very much. Thank you for taking us along!

Anonymous

The flooring in the china closet is fine, but you can put some carpet runners down around the island in the center so that if something falls it might not break. Plus it lends warmth and colour. I do love this format of video, because we get the whole inside story of the planning process. PLUS, we can give you ideas for things that you might not have thought of (although you all seem to be doing a great job of covering all of the bases.) Still, a hive mind can be the best mind. And I'm so thrilled for you, Stephanie! Isn't this fun? Planning for the things the chateau needs and actually knowing that they will come to be. Glorious! Plus, you've got a great team with Hash and Davey. Well done! And may 2021 be the dawn of the New Age for LaLande and its inhabitants. Happy, Healthy New Year to everyone. Affectionately, Cynthia

Anonymous

Just keep going as you are, speaking for myself it makes one feel involved.

I really enjoyed the format, Stephanie. It was great to hear the discussions and reasons behind all the decisions (especially love the drinks cabinet you can get to from both sides!). It gives us just the right kind of detail that we love! I hope you have had a chance to put your feet up and feel a bit more rested.

Anonymous

Love to hear and see 👀 all the chatter of the renovations. How exciting. Love the ideas presented and colours you and Michael are coming up with. Looking forward to seeing the final results. This format btw is quite nice. Happy New Year to you and yours Stephanie 🎊🎆✨🎉

Anonymous

Just a few suggestions to consider: additional electrical outlets in all the rooms with USB charging outlets, I'm always looking for an available plug in this old house. Also, lighting in the upper cabinets might be considered, I'm sure Hash has that on the list. It's great to see plans coming to light. Happy New Year from Canada! Stay Safe! Cheers.

Anonymous

I enjoyed seeing your decision process. I'm a detail person too. I think it's the smallest details that makes a project worth while. Thank you for including us. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all Lalanders.

Great format. Keep as is

Anna Ibarra

I absolutely love the raw nature of this format Stephanie. It just shows us how much you value us and in the process of your future projects. The excitement is just so fun for us as well, and I just cannot wait till work begins. Also, agree on adding more outlets and for sure USB outlets that come with the electrical outlets these days. Also, for the China pantry and wondering if you have or can get teacarts to transport the china toward the dinning areas, kitchen, so it's safer to transport back and forth. Maybe getting a nice up to date one, however, a sweet antique one can also work for smaller parties. A chateau should have one shouldn't it. LOL This is just so exciting. Please keep the vlogs as is, loved it so much, I could have continue seeing much more. Keep up the great Hash, Davey and Michael for helping Stephanie out. Wow, great job.

Anna Ibarra

Good idea about the cookbooks. Maybe the more used books, in the hallway just off the kitchen corridor, maybe a narrow bookshelf or cabinet. Of course, never been there, don't know if that will be a problem? Also, the extra cookbooks can be kept in a small section in the future libray, as in evenings when sitting by the fire, all cozy, one can be looking at recipes for the following day/s.

Anonymous

Thank you for including us in the early stages of planning for the upcoming year. I liked the format, as I enjoy seeing and hearing what really goes on! Including the long term structural work and the as yet not discussed landscaping and gardening, LaLande should have a very busy year. What is the status of the WC on the ground floor? I have heard you mention that you regret La Lande's lack of a grand entrance. Perhaps an architect could suggest ways of adding an all glass pavilion of some kind in the courtyard. It is a pleasure to watch your videos and to get a sense of what it is like to be at La Lande with all of you. Please keep up the good work! I wish you, your family, staff, and friends a wonderful 2021.

Anonymous

Definitely keep this format. It's nice to be included in the thought process.

Anonymous

You might want to get a few of your restaurant/chef pal's ideas? They might have great input on cooking for a crowd 😉✌💗 Love it!!!!

Anonymous

that was great

Anonymous

I love this format, thank you for sharing. Good to see that things are finally moving forward, I was kind of missing the interior design topics from the blog. What about painting the ceiling beams? Are you planning to hire somebody to paint them Stephanie? Maybe if you mention it in the blog an artist would volunteer to do that...

Anonymous

Happy new year! Loved the format Stephanie, and so lovely to see more of Micheal Potts! Can’t wait to see what 2021 brings! Lots of love xxxx

Anonymous

I didn't hear you mention a place for the nicer glassware / crystal. I may have missed that. But would think allotting for the glassware would be very beneficial. If not now, then down the road.

Anonymous

Thank you for allowing us to see the process! This is truly a lovely opportunity to see the planning. I’d like to make a couple tiny suggestions, for the cleaning up area. Would you consider stainless countertops? It would make cleaning up much easier without fear of staining or cracking. While LeLande is a family home, it is also the base of multiple business operations. Incorporating industrial kitchen tools now will help in the long run. Also, is Hash considering using the wood from LeLande for all the joinery? It makes perfect sense and make save some money. I think it would be historically correct and appropriate. Will he also ask local cabinetry builders? It might be best to use local carpenters, considering how awful 2020 has been to small business owners.

Anonymous

Stephanie, with all the "artist" people you know, would any of them be able / willing to paint the ceiling & beams in the new library like you've always wanted them to be??? That would be amazing!

Anonymous

Yes, Greatly enjoyed listening to the whole conversation & thought processes. Wonderful ideas!

Anonymous

Cannot wait to see it finished. I`m sure it is going to be so beautiful. The Chateau is coming back to life again Stephanie. Happy New Years to you and everyone at Lalonde. Looking forward to a wonderful 2021. Stay safe and take care everyone.

Anonymous

Loved it just like this.

Anonymous

Thanks for taking us to the meeting. Exciting stuff. In the 3 room house of my dreams, I'd live in just a kitchen, a library, and a china pantry, where I'd lay my head at night. Love it all. Happy New Year 2021.

Anonymous

You can hang art on shelves themselves.

Anonymous

This was great as it is! Love hearing the planning as it goes along.

Anonymous

This is so exciting! Feels like work is going to start soon. I love this format as well. Gives us a chance to give you input & ideas before making concrete decisions. About the cocktail cabinet...did I understand you would have a shelf on the back of the doors? Won’t this make the doors heavy to open & close? Plus two heavy doors to open to get from one room to the other. Sounds good but maybe not so practical. Definitely some lighting in the bookshelves would be nice - or at least get the electrical done and lights later depending on budget? Can’t wait for the work to start! Happy New Year to everyone!

Anonymous

Definitely enjoyed this style of video without too much editing. Thanks for keeping us all in the loop, so thoughtful of you. 👍☺️

So excited for you all! The chateau is in the perfect hands for sure! What a wonderful time for this to be happening and for all of us to be able to see/hear the brainstorming and the process. I really enjoyed this format....it feels like I’m a part of the meeting and decisions. Can’t wait to see part 2 with Davey’s recommendations for the gardens. So many exciting changes in store for Lalande!

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie! Loved the format. It's great to hear everyone's input and spur of the moment ideas (hidden drinks cabinet! ). Can't wait to see all the videos of these projects as they go from the design plans to the finished rooms. I've just have a question though, will any of these projects end up being filmed for Escape to the Chateau DIY or will you show them on your vlogs? Anyway, I'll leave you to ponder that... But in the meantime I want to wish you and all the Lalanders a happy, prosperous and a return to normality in 2021!! I don't know about the rest of you, but I need a holiday. Perhaps somewhere French, maybe a chateau...

Loved watching the decision making process and very excited to see the start of the projects in the near future.

Love this format & seeing behind the scenes . Wishing everyone a happy , healthy New Year x

Anonymous

Hello fellow chateau friends! First I wish everyone a very happy, healthy and safe new year! I am still at the early weeks of being a Patreon and loving every moment, thank you. Stephanie you have more talent in your pinkie then I have in my whole body. I am a Lalande addict at the moment. You are actually living my dreams from a very early age. I use to tie my hair up in a bun and use my mother’s costume jewelry necklace as a sort of tiara. Yes and proudly walk around the neighborhood as if I was a princess. Being the middle of a family of only 5 girls was like being our own version of “Little Women”! So many great memories! I thoroughly enjoyed being involved listening to all your wonderful plans for the new year. I see it happening and it’s thrilling! Hi to all and enjoy these wonderful moments, you deserve all the success showering down on you, you’ve worked so hard! Blessings! ❤️🍾🎉🥳

Anonymous

Love this format! I enjoy being a fly on the wall during the decision making process. All the upcoming will be fabulous - I am so excited to see them unfold.

Anonymous

I very much enjoyed being a 'fly on the wall' during your discussions Stephanie. Wishing you and yours all the very best for this new year 💕

Anonymous

I loved being able to hear the back and forth of the ideas and decision-making process. This is very exciting!!! Can’t wait for the work to begin.

Anonymous

I really enjoyed this video. It gives you a clearer picture as to what needs to be done and what’s potentially involved. Just a suggestion with regards to the library. Even though that will be the last you could consider getting the windows done at the same time you renew other windows in the kitchen or was it the doors in the hall at the back of the kitchen. Just a thought.

Anonymous

I do like feeling like I was there. This was good.

Anonymous

I loved this video! It's so fascinating to hear your ideas develop as you discuss them.

Kim Magee

I love this format Stephanie!!

Denise Behrends

I absolutely LOVE this longer unedited format where you bring us along through the entire creative design process. I hung on your every word as each of you thought aloud, exchanging ideas with one another as they occurred to you in real time. Your unique perspectives work together to create a great collaborative team. Please keep many more of these types of planning and walk-through videos coming!

Anonymous

Storing cookbooks in places only accessible by ladder means that they will not be used. I know you store a lot of porcelain in the cabinets under the blue and white Spode. Will you move those settings to the china pantry when it’s done? If so, you will have room to put the cookbooks there. You can keep or remove the doors, but they’ll be so much more accessible.

Anonymous

I enjoyed the detail of your planning. I agree that having the cookery books so high maybe something you will regret. It makes sense to me to give serious thought to what items get used a lot and have those at the level you can reach without having to climb the ladder. Also the doors for the secret drinks cabinet may cause issues, with the weight of bottles etc. It sounds a cool idea but in practice may not be so practical. I can’t wait to see it all evolve. So exciting to be part of it, even from the other side of the world.

Anonymous

very exciting reno’s coming up...all sounding good. Is it possible and is there room to move the wall between the refrigerator and the stove/cooker to maximize the space for the new refrigerator? Thanks for taking us along.

Anonymous

I really enjoyed seeing the back and forth of planning between all of you. I have seen people hang pictures on the front of bookshelves. This could be something you could do with your fathers paintings. They could have hangers to attach to the rails that you would put in for the ladder. In the kitchen you could also change the cabinet doors below the Spode Display to match the new cabinetry. I am also glad that your planning to change the windows in those rooms as you redo them. Hopefully eventually you will be able to update all of the windows and exterior doors to be more efficient and secure. I cant wait to see the improvements that are coming.

I loved it, I really felt as though I was there with you. Keep up the good work Happy New Year luv Annie

I really enjoyed the planning process. So excited for the library and the china closet. You have great vision and I love your attention to detail . Like hand painting the cabinetry . Looking forward to part two . The gardens! I have a vision of wild flowers leading up to and near the chapel and the soon to be lakes edge. Swaths of wild flowers dancing gently in the breeze. Has that ever been considered? This format was wonderful. Thank you ! Happy New Year to you and everyone at Lalande

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie I love this format, please continue. Everything sounds fabulous, nothing better than getting a place for everything and everything in its place, makes life so much easier. Can’t wait to see the progress in the coming year. xox

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, I love this format. It's really great being able to watch all your planning. Based on my own experiences I would recommend to use as much drawers possible in the pantry room to make the most use of every single centimeter. Also it is much easier to get the plates etc out of it. Love watching your blogs and these videos. All the best for all of you at the Chateau.

Anonymous

As an Interior Designer myself, I love seeing this behind the scenes planning. You have a great team helping you and they offered great suggestions, not to mention Michael's idea of the drink cabinet in the library. Just make sure you have symetry with a small wall on each side of the fireplace with your two sconces. They can be panelled also and you can still place artwork above and below the sconces. Looking forward to the process!! Best! Ada

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie, Happy New Year! I really enjoyed this format. I am excited to see all of this new functionality married with your beautiful chateau aesthetic!

I loved this video ! Being interested in decoration and renovation, I had a lovely time imagining myself with all of you figuring out what to do, how to do it, it was great !

Anonymous

I thoroughly enjoyed this video as is. I like the unedited interaction and the free flow of ideas.

Anonymous

I love the longer, less edited version of this video. It allows us to feel that we are actually there and part of the conversation:)

Anonymous

I love this type of format and enjoy seeing what you would like to have done and hearing, bouncing ideas of each other. I know this all is in the preliminary phase and you will be tweaking things here and there as you go along. With that said let me tell you of my experience with the secret doors. It is a cool James Bond vibe, but those doors with the weight of the liquor and alcohol bottles will be problematic on the doors mechanics and always need repair of some sort. Also there is always one door left open thus ruining it intention on being secret and the aesthetics of the room. I like the idea of a hidden locked cabinet for those rare and expensive spirits. My experience from having my own library is to make sure there is an area that has wider and taller shelving for those books that will not fit on a standard book shelf. Place it somewhere where it will not effect the symmetry of the shelves so much and thus ruin the rooms eye. Also if possible have all the cabinets installed with lights. You will every time get that AHH sensation when you flick the switch on, giving off an incredible ambiance. Also if you have some rare and valuable, unreplaceable books you may want just one cabinet that locks. Ok that's my 2 cents, but experience and its advise to me is always welcomed and shared.

Anonymous

Love the format, hopefully it can save on some editing time as a bonus! My two cents, in the china pantry, drawers for flatware behind the toe kicks, may not be practical because of the floors but might be worth consideration.

Anonymous

I enjoyed being along for the decision making, creative process. Very exciting to be part of the improvements. Particularly having places for everything and better insulation and heating.

Wow, you have such wonderful experts to rely on for your upcoming projects! I like so many of the ideas. I agree with Ada about incorporating as many drawers as possible. I like larger drawers with dividers for storing dishes as well as cutlery. I also would make sure that all the drawers that hold the linens would be next to each other; you don’t want the napkins across the room from the tablecloths. Oh, and I so like Michael’s idea of color on the ceiling! A nice French blue would be gorgeous and unexpected. Now for the butler’s pantry, is there a way to incorporate the dishwashers closer to the sinks; perhaps one on each side? As for the library, I love all the ideas, but am also concerned about the weight of bottles and such upon the secret doors. Love the idea of a secret drinks cabinet though, and I think it can be done if well thought out. I’m so looking forward to seeing the progress as it comes!

Also love the format where you feel included in your thoughts. Can't wait to see it all happen :)

Anonymous

love the format!!!

I really enjoyed this informal format. I enjoy the planning process as much as the actual renovation. Glad you are changing out the windows and doors as you go along. I used to own assisted living facilities and would suggest a cart for your dishes etc to be transported from pantry to table, dishwasher, and back to pantry. It needs to have raised edges so items don’t fall off. The pantry area could contain a parking area to store it. So excited to see the progress. Thanx for bringing us along!

Anonymous

Like 100's of others i LOVED this- bit surprised as to how much i am enjoying the detail of the process- it was a real treat to be with you as you discussed the possibilities and totally enhances my interest in watching the changes happen. I signed up to Patreon i think initially just as a try out - intrigued to see Selmar's interview and the others too But i am now hooked- i really appreciate the style of recent videos - i Love the extra footage - the less edited the better - Thank you - continues to be a wonderful gift - i'm here to stay :) (well its been many months now and you still keep delivering excellent value- heaps beyond anything else i have ever come across- lucky us

Anonymous

Enjoyed this format very much. It reminded me of the process I went through to renovate my 100+ year old Craftsman house in Oregon. Looking forward to the video with Davy. Happy New Year to you all.

Anonymous

LOVED this format. Relaxed and informative x

Anonymous

It was a great format, I felt I was there with you all. Lots of lovely ideas there, I can’t wait to see it all taking shape over the next year. X

Anonymous

Loved it! Will the glasses/goblets/tea pots and cups be stored in the china pantry? I do not know if you have pinterest but there are many ideas on that :)

Anonymous

Love the format on the way the video was done. I was wondering if in the butlers pantry you add a compost bin that could be taken out to be put in a compost system for the garden. 😊

Anonymous

I have a small library in my house. One shelf is behind glass doors and underneath it shelves with a door. I keep my photo albums in the lower shelves behind doors.

Anonymous

I think Stephanie said they were going to just put glasses on the doors. And if the doors are done properly to account for weight it shouldn’t be a problem. 😊

Georgette Jones

Liked the format, liked the ideas, liked seeing the rooms, liked feeling included.....hay I liked it❣️

Anonymous

I love the format. Hearing the stream of ideas for what is going into the design of each room is every interesting. 2021 is going to be an amazing year for Lalande!

Anonymous

Another great video! Long form is fine, all the process is interesting

Anonymous

Love the format; behind the scenes hearing the ideas flow and grow into defined planes is wonderful during Covid-19 lockdown. I’m currently in quarantine due to positive covid test results we have a mild case pray life gets back to normal soon

Anonymous

I love this format, hearing everyone’s thought process of designing everything...I felt like I was right there, and was evening thinking of a few of my own ideas at the same time! Hehe I love both formats Stephanie, so if you want to go back and fourth that would be awesome, but honestly everything you do is amazing and entertaining! Hehe

Anonymous

Loved the format stephanie I think it great we all get a chance to make ideras with you double glazing the windows will help a lot

Cynthia Logan

I love hearing the thought process and details! So interesting!

Hi Stephanie I know you probably wont read this but I am a kitchen designer, here is my opinion, I would run the sinks under the window and run the worktops around the room in a U shape. Worktops... I have Corian in my kitchen and it is 14 years old and is in perfect condition and I am a very keen cook. Laminate worktops have come on a long way, I would recommend you look at them as they are very cost effective and robust. I would also get a couple of plans from a high street kitchen company, or a trade kitchen company, what Hash is proposing is bespoke kitchen and sound extremely expensive and unnecessary. Tray storage, tea towel holders, book storage are all a standard unit in high street kitchen companies, for a room that size you should expect to pay from £5k upwards depending on your budget, but for a room like that I would go for a robust high street kitchen and not a bespoke one . You can also have fold out steps that store in the plinth area.

Anonymous

I would also look at high street kitchen companies for the china pantry, the cost for bespoke joinery would be unbelievable and eye watering, and at the end of the day the china pantry is ideal for kitchen units, you can have traditional sold wood with granite tops. Is Hash on commission? he sounds like hes trying to push bespoke joinery on you.

I love being part of the discussion, to feel like Im part of the plan for the future of the chateau. I don't want to just be the moola part of the equation (although I do secretly love the idea of being a Miss MoneyPots Galore in an alternative universe!) I enjoyed hearing the back and forth of doors or no doors, and cow paintings and the like. I know Stephanie you are excited about the china cabinet but for me it's all about the library. and so I want to remind you to have lots of electrical outlets so you can charge up the kindles and laptops in the library.

Anonymous

Loved witnessing the discussion and decision making process. I felt I was there. The adhoc conversations about the history of the Chateau are fascinating. It reminded me how far Chateau renovations have come. Looking forward to Part 2 and the next exciting chapter in restoring Chateau de la Lande. Well done Stephanie and co.

Kimberly Dale

Love this format a lot 👍

Anonymous

I enjoy both styles of video editing. Thank you

Don’t need snappier... I have drawers in my kitchen that I love because Nothing gets lost in the back...Some don’t like the drawers but have the shaved that pull out for your cloth napkins... I love open shelves too, but live in farming country so lots of dust... It’ll be great ... move over cocktail corner make way for cocktail 🥃☕️🫖🍸🥂🍾🍹 🍸 cupboard

Anonymous

Have you considered restoring the interior shutters in the older wing of the chateau (library)?

Anonymous

Loved seeing the process this way.

Anonymous

Hi! I joined the patreon fam yesterday and this is exactly the kind of content I was hoping to unlock. Loved hearing all your plans and seeing the teamwork that goes into making them. What about extending the closed cabinets underneath the bookcases in the grand salon as to create an opportunity to sit down as you explore the library? Something of a reading nook/bench. (Or would that intervene with the ladder). Can't wait to see your ideas come to life!

Jodi and Scott Barck

Found this very interesting. I love home renovations. To me homes in are ever changing. A home that never is worked on just seems lifeless. I think whatever format you want to use at any in time is fine. I think maybe a few less edited videos might be "easier". Even a few shorted ones like you used to be so from time to time is good also to help lighten the work load. I love your older videos and they weren't very long. Do what works for you! The ideas all look great can't wait!!

Anonymous

My goodness, this was wonderful. Thank you for including us in this type of chat. I feel like I am there with you ( and Natty) learning all the behind the scene decisions. This is going to be exciting!

This was excellent! Loved it. This type of thing makes my nerd brain happy 😂 thanks for keeping us up to date!

Very exciting plans! Thank you for sharing! Can't wait to visit! 😘

From a workflow and output standpoint this format is smart. You have enough on your plate with current content deliverables. I see a post production team in your very near future!

Does anyone know if there’s a Sunday’s at the Chateau tonight?

Anonymous

it's absolutely fine like this -- who would believe that watching somebody plan renovation details would be so fascinating.

I really enjoyed this format, it felt like we were there and a part of it. Lots of interesting plans. Thank you Stephanie

I loved this format very much! Very excited to see the evolution in the coming months! All the best!

Anonymous

Hi Stephanie - I love the long format. Will you be returning to the Tuesday / Thursday format, with Sunday at the Chateau and 1 per week Chateau Unwrapped?

Anonymous

Liked the format and hearing he details! Sounds like plans are going to happen this year! It sounds wonderful!

Anonymous

Loved the format and I am squealing inside at all the plans

Anonymous

I really enjoyed this format! Getting to see the discussions and info of the next project is very intriguing and even makes me a little impatient to see it all done! For these types of videos, less editing = more, in my opinion. 😉

Anonymous

I thought it was terrific :-)

Anonymous

Thoroughly enjoyed all the brainstorming.

Anonymous

Just my thought on kitchen improvements. I would keep the taps part of the sink, as condensation on the body of the taps runs off on to the work surface otherwise ruining it over time. I would keep the corridors wide as possible (kitchen ladder) my thinking it will become a nuisance squeezing through. also there is a work triangle between fridge, cooker and sink for easy of work. best wishes Si.

Anonymous

Loved this format!!!

Its a Yes from me Stephanie. Love this exciting time of plans and alterations to your fabulous home. Well done Stephanie and all your wonderful team. 👍💕💕👏

Anonymous

Great format, gave a good insight into some if the issues that you have to overcome as part of the renevations.

Anonymous

I definitely like this format! I was just excitedly telling my partner, who is an architect, about the library project and he asked a question that, though I'm sure you've considered it, I figured I might pose here just in case. Have you accounted for the weight of however many hundreds of books you plan to add to the library once it's finished in terms of the added stress to the existing floor structure? This is especially true if the walls are supported by a beam rather than being directly supported by the foundation. If indeed the walls span a gap in the foundation and are supported by a beam, it may be more weight than the beams are rated to hold. I hope this is helpful! I absolutely can't wait to see all of these projects start to come to life. Happy new year!

Sharidan Dee Ann Vincent

I really loved the format because you feel like you are a part of it. Brainstorming diverse ideas then making a joint decision is an excellent process and we get to feel a part of it. Thank you for sharing!

I see many cooks at Lalande, uncomfortably, bending half over at the table while cooking. Will there be more work tops anywhere?

Stephanie, happy new year, I love this format! It’s so exiting to watch and hear all your wonderful plans with such wonderful experts! Yes, please, more of this! I didn’t realize that Michael Potts is living in Amsterdam. That is so exiting because there is an incredible purveyor of architectural antiques in Baambrugge, just 30 min south of Amsterdam towards Utrecht. As soon as he is back in the Netherlands he must go to

Anonymous

I think that the kitchen can wait for a little bit. You definitely need a bigger refrigerator. I think the priorities need to be more structural. Yes you want to make things pretty for your guests but in a building this old paint and mortar can only hold it together for so long. I would say the first two things should be coming up with a better heating plan that way not only you are comfortable during the winter but so can your guests. Second I would say to better insulate the attic’s. You are losing so much heating that way. Two really amazing side projects I would like to see are the servants quarters renovated which will provide extra income. As well as working on the cellar and possibly finding if there really is a missing one.

Anonymous

Piet Jonker Abcoude B.V. , architectural salvage store in Baambrugge, NL. www.pietjonker.nl it has been in business for decades and is marvelous. I mentioned it twice before in a comment. He might find the antique floor tiles for the bathroom you are looking for. They also sell all sorts of antique furniture and curiosities. It’s a marvelous place!

Carrie Miller

I really enjoyed this format. If you can travel from England with a negative COVID test, does that mean Gerry can visit soon?

Anonymous

Hello team lalande. I really enjoyed watching the covid diaries because it made it very real how the pandemic is impacting your world, like all of us. I would like to know a little more about how your visitors are able to travel, and if they are having to quarantine. I think you mentioned in passing that one of your guests had passed a covid test which is a huge relief. Just give us a update on your current impact. We can handle it, and it actually helps.

Anonymous

I would also like to know more about how Isabelle and Percy are doing. I hear so much bad news from South Africa and the new strain. I know this is an escape for many, but it's also a community. Are you all ok? Will Nick and family be staying longer due to UK lockdown?

Anonymous

Quick sidetrack to figure out what's kept in the box marked "Cassolette"...from the diminutive form of the French word cassole, a small container 🧐

Anonymous

I loved seeing this video exactly how you edited it. Not too long, very interesting. I think it is a bit of a shame though that the golden age of the Chateau and the patronage of the Chateau is not benefitting or using local French artisans as I think it would have done when it was built. I think it’s a bit of a lost opportunity to share the heritage of the Chateau with the local community in the same way as it would have done in it’s lifetime and in the same spirit you expressed in a vlog once about keeping the building in view for local people and not out of sight hidden by trees.( Although I am sure Hash’ company would do a beautiful job)

Anonymous

I do agree with your sensible suggestions. With regards to adding more accomodation I believe the tax structure etc in France changes significantly when you have more than 5 bedrooms to let. I think you go from chambre d’hotes to hotel and the regulations become much much more complicated. Kind regards x

Anonymous

There are still no flights to nearby airports I believe.

Anonymous

The number of cases in France is around 5000 a day. There are far less restrictions to travel in France than in other countries at the moment . There is a National curfew from 20.00 hrs until 07.00. It is from 18.00 hrs in some areas. You have to wear a mask when you are outside as well. To enter France you have to have a negative covid test.

Anonymous

Loved the insight into the planning and just how it was, relaxed and detailed. I too agree that it would be lovely to use some of the many wonderful French artisans that there are, but nice to have a mix of european talent !

Anne Green

I loved this unedited video all just saying what was wanted/needed in the different rooms & made me feel a real part of the next development for your beautiful Chateau 💕

Garrie and Cindy Garrison

Definitely a treat to hear the ideas from all! Can't wait for it! All of it! So many good ideas. Things will seem so fine and run so smoothly. It's a great feeling to be a small part of the improvements!

I love to hear about the progress !! edited or not, the end results is what matters for me personally speaking. Love you all so much...and I am a Lalande fan since the start of this weird pandemic time!

I just love everything in your life. This is what life should be. Full of love and laughters😘😁. One thing more, you are all natural..not scripted and I can feel your happiness. Also, I am so very proud of you Stephanie ...you are very courageous and I wish I were like you. Of course, you are surrounded with beautiful friends all because you treat them well. God Bless you All always from Israel.

Jana Miranda

I have a feeling that Michael Potts and Cadeaux at the Chateau will be receiving lots of little porcelain cow shaped creamers for the china pantry as a nod to the former dairy.

Anonymous

Loved all the brainstorming of ideas and the future of these rooms and the Chateau. I am so glad I can contribute a small portion to the enlightenment of this home 😃 I really enjoyed the spur of the moment ideas and look forward to it coming to life in 2021.

I just had a thought! With the china pantry, you could carve a little cow somewhere, like Robert Mouseman furniture 😆

Anonymous

definitely enjoyed being part of the decision making process and hearing all of your ideas!!! Really excited about this!! I LOVE the idea of a hidden drinks cabinet! Would it be a wet bar?

Anonymous

Really enjoyed this format and loved listening to the plans. I think getting your kitchen and work spaces and storage is priority to be able to give yourselves, work always and guests a much more flexible and easier time. Can’t wait 😜 ......in the library will you paint the walls a new colour, I love the green but may be dark with all the new bookshelves, maybe one lighter shade down ? Definitely need to keep warm with doors and windows to insulate. I felt cold watching you today. Keep safe and cant wait to see transformations. Great news Stephanie and Lalande

Hello Zannie. While I’m sad in the UK for what’s happening in DC today, can we keep it politics free here please.

Anonymous

Thank you Sid. There appears to be no safe place these days where you are free of it.

I really like this format :) and regarding you talking about how you want another golden age for the chateau; I believe you are right in it, this already is the golden age, the chateau is so busy and full of life right now 🥰

lottie

Love just as it is. We get so much information on your insights and can almost picture it done. It probably saves you some time as well, not having to stage everything. The hair turban 👳‍♀️ is a nice casual touch too 😍

Anonymous

La Landers!! there is a channel which needs like minded people to watch them - I think they only have like 800 subscribers☹ "sauve mon chateau" and you can get english subtitles in most videos. please help spread the love Stephanie has brought together❤

Anonymous

I'm taking notes for my own kitchen remodel which I hope will finally be under way this year. Interesting for me to hear advice and ideas from a professional like Hash.

Anonymous

I know how much you want the former dairy to be the china room. But before you do it, load a trolley with a dinner service and attempt to roll it from that space to the dining room. Maneuver it across the uneven flagstones, through the doors and curtains in that hallway. Attempt to open the kitchen door, zig zag around the table while people are cooking. and then zig zag Petite Salon. See if it’s even possible to safely transport precious porcelain before you begin construction.

Anonymous

I am looking forward to all the renovations this year. Selmar is so amazing, that he can do so many jobs for you. the downstairs loo will look wonderful when finished.

Anonymous

This was so great to watch, would have just loved a bit more panning around each room to show it from all sides as the discussion was sometimes about an area behind or to the side of the camera that we could not see. Otherwise, it was perfect and i can't wait to see the progress!!

Anonymous

This is a really good point. I think a trolley will have to have suspension, cushioning and high sides!!

Anonymous

Is the library cold due to the draft, which happens because the chimney flu is open? Perhaps enable all chimneys to be closed when not in use.

Anonymous

Great to watch.....though I couldn't help thinking some tough choices ahead when the quotes come in on what is needed and what is a nice to have.....don't envy you! But great to see the progress.....

Anonymous

I believe Stephanie and her crew would be far more compassionate about the actual horrors being experienced in the US right now. You could take some lessons from them.

Anonymous

Thanks for sharing the process of 'thinking out' all of the details. I could watch this for hours, I like the slower pace. Exciting times ahead! Hidden drinks cabinet/ doorway = love it! :)

Anonymous

I loved this! I’m so excited to see the transformations you will be making.

Bonsoir ! Just joined so I'm having a wonderful time going through all these videos. Please, please , more of these types of vlogs as they are really interesting & exciting. We're on our 3rd house renovation (though nothing like your grands travaux) & I never tire of hearing about other peoples plans. What's more these glimpses behind the scenes make us feel as if we are really there with you. Your youtube channel beats anything on the telly (in France or in the UK !!!!). Merci mille for the positive vibes xxx

Love the format. I would like to suggest storage for a trolley in the china pantry. that way it is easier and safer to move large quantities of china. It would also .ake cleaning up easier.

Anonymous

I finally got to watch this and loved it. I felt like I was there with you planning. Thank you for sharing.

I somehow missed this video earlier on. Thank you for it! I love the long format of the chat. I find it so interesting. I love hearing about the planning and strategizing. So glad you discussed the importance of finding a special place for your father's painting in the room. That painting makes the room. I hope you keep incorporating the green in the room, even after adding the cabinets. I love the colour of the winter salon

I was thinking some library ladders would be lovely if you are have the books up to the ceiling. Ladders that moved round by sliding them .just a thought .i became a patreon last night and am so happy am here xxxx

Anonymous

I really enjoyed this format <3

Anonymous

I just became a patron, and am a month behind this video. I love the planning and problem solving in the spaces. I enjoy all the details being discussed, which will be revealed when it's finished. One thing that caught my attention was in the drinks closet. Will the glasses on the doors be very secured in place? I was concerned about people opening and closing doors and rattling the glasses, with possible breakage. You probably have a plan for that, but I thought I'd mention it. It's going to all be so beautiful and functional.

Anonymous

A lifting bar hatch, or better described as a drop leaf top, would make a useful counter surface in your drinks closet. A worktop that would lift up from one side wall, and be supported by swing-out flaps from both side walls. I'm sure there is commercial drop leaf hardware available, also. By being drop leaf it can be swung down when you want to use the drinks closet as a passage. Inverse of the standard bar hatch: lift for use and drop for passage, rather than visa versa.

Anonymous

I’m a new patron and have caught up to here. This is one of my favorite formats—the exciting planning stages!

Hi! I'm a new patron and I've binged all of the previous videos over the past few days. I really enjoyed this format - it feels like a true peek behind the scenes. Can't wait to see the progress of the different projects :) Thank you also for all of your hard work on these videos - I find them fascinating and , as many others have mentioned, it's uplifting to see a community all living and working together.
