One of my favorite things about operating this Patreon is seeing new names come up in each episode of Cup of Jones, and when reading each of our Podcast Producers at the end of the month. This is one of those Cups where I see lots of new names. Some allies I recognize from other shows or streams, but they’re posting here for the first time. It makes me happy that people can discover this show and learn more about me/us, or feel comfortable asking a question after a long silence when they feel the need arise. Whether you just listen along each week, or if you regularly leave comments, I appreciate your focus. As this show has evolved, so have the amount and types of questions. It’s a comfort to know you’re all willing to help me keep this business as transparent as possible, and fix as many issues as we can.

PERSONAL QUESTIONS

DENIZ SCHREIBE - During your 30s, have you put much thought into staying healthy and looking back do you feel it paid off? What areas have you done a good job and what areas do you wish your 30-year old self had been more mindful of? And moving into your 40s, do you have a new health gameplan? JONES - Amanda is much healthier than I when it comes to the food we choose to eat, but I’ve definitely gotten healthier-minded as I’ve gotten older. I think it’s a natural occurrence for most people. As time catches up to each of us, and our usual tricks to get over our limitations don’t work as well anymore, we start to seek out more effective solutions. It started for me with anxiety, which led me to go running more, which led to doing half-marathons at Disneyland. I started getting stomach issues, which led me to investigate lactose-intolerance and other similar digestive problems, only to discover ultimately that it was just stress eating me up from the inside. I wish I could teach 30-year-old Jones meditation, and illustrate the benefits. That’s really my goal moving forward. Mindfulness. Be aware what’s happening to your body. Don’t let stress, or love of work, or exterior substances, dictate “how you feel.” Be directly in control. I also want to try and make that struggle part of my work here for people that are dealing with the same thing.

VGJUNKY - I know you tried out the bow in Monster Hunter for Switch but did you know that Monster Hunter World secretly has some of the best bow combat in video games? Take a minute to look at this example. JONES - It’s not a secret. At least not to me. SunhiLegend posted a gif the other day of some crazy bow-attack-flipping action and it almost made me cry. I feel like World is represented very well by the other allies, so I’ve never felt the need to dive into the game for the sake of work coverage. That said, it is extremely tempting, and something I could see myself losing hours of my life to, easily. I feel the same way about Final Fantasy XIV.

MOHAMED SINAN - Recently on the monthly Q&A I heard you talking about how you would love a sequel to GTA Chinatown Wars, and you specifically mentioned how you wanted it to be a Switch exclusive, and that's weird to me. I understand that if that game existed your preferred way to play it would be on the Switch, however, what I don't understand is why you repeatedly emphasized that you wanted it to be an exclusive. It's a third party game, so wouldn't be better if it came to all platforms and everybody got to play it on whichever one they own? This has also come up before on another Q&A, for another game that you also wanted to be only on the Switch and, again, I gotta say I don't understand why. JONES - Sure, good point. I’ll clarify. I don’t think the “exclusive” bit needed to be emphasized by me for the sake of favoring the Switch over other consoles. I think I was commenting on how Nintendo has helped fund certain projects (Bayonetta 2, Ultimate Alliance 3, etc.) that otherwise wouldn’t have happened at all. So I was thinking Nintendo and Rockstar could invest together, thus increasing the likelihood that a Chinatown Wars sequel could get greenlit in the first place. But there’d be no benefit to Switch exclusivity beyond that for Grand Theft Auto fans. The best version of that reality would be for it to appear on every console available.

Quick note: I agree the colors and format of the schedule could be more readable. I appreciate you guys taking our notes on that tho!
