We believe we've provided ample time to watch the most recent Hall of Greats so that no one will tweet us about spoiling the Hall of Greats.
If you haven't, it's live here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKvBxu0tB0A

There was a tie for 2nd and 3rd, and as we all know that can only be broken by a vote from our patrons. Please vote below, and vote wisely. One game will enter the Hall of Greats, the other will be nothing for another three months at least.

Can't wait to see which one wins!

Anonymous

Do what's right. Vote God of War.

Owen

God of war will definitely get in. This one goes to portal.

Anonymous

Oh man this is gonna be close

Anonymous

awesome! Allthough i would have preferred a live poll at the time :)

Anonymous

Bruh too close mad aniexty.

Lord Zedd

God of War. Do it.

Anonymous

BOOOOIIII!

Anonymous

This will be Tense! hope on GoW

Anonymous

Portal ftw

Anonymous

GoW for me

Anonymous

This is madness! It's WAY too soon to even consider God of War for HoG.

Anonymous

Portal 2 is better than 1, also God of War is better than both😉

Anonymous

portal first seems right

Anonymous

Do the right thing Allies, Portal. Portal is far more influential and important than God of War. \

Anonymous

Portal 2! Oh, well Portal will do

Anonymous

WHO ever wins. WE LOSE!! :P

Anonymous

God of War was my GOTY, but I think a game needs to age for a couple of years before it can be considered for HoG

Anonymous

Trials

Heilos

My vote is going to Portal, but I won't be too sad if God of War gets the win. :)

Anonymous

It's too early for God of War 2018 right now. Portal is so unique and its had the time to really cement itself as a standout game.

Anonymous

The Cake is a Lie. And other great memes from 2007. Do the right thing.

Anonymous

Portal is a marvel in succinct design and stunningly unique to boot.

Anonymous

It's a bit too early imo for God of War. It isn't even a year old yet.

Anonymous

Surprised a game so recent, that hasn't even had a chance to prove it will stand the test of time, is beating Portal at the moment. (Edit: Looks like I spoke to soon...)

Anonymous

Voted God of War, but both games are greats in my eyes.

Logan Young

God of War is the masterpiece that the genre has worked towards, but Portal was revolutionary and completely innovative. Nothing like Portal was widely known about up until that point. Reward creativity over modern polish. Do what is right. Vote Portal.

Anonymous

A game less than a year old should not be in IMO. Recency bias is too strong and there's no context to see what games come after, improving on the formula and thus highlighting the flaws that are not apparent until something better comes along. Last of Us got dismissed so quickly, and yet I recall it getting as much acclaim, if not more, than GoW when it came out. Portal all the way.

Anonymous

Portal is more iconic, more mechanically, culturally important, more meme-worthy, and more influential. All first person puzzle games are compared to Portal. Some future games MAY be compared to God of War

Anonymous

God of War, while technically and thematically marvelous, is too new for the Hall of Greats. 2018's God of War would not exist without the previous three; it is not the best of that franchise because, without what came before, we could never truly build sympathy for Kratos because he wouldn't have such a violent past. Imagine if this exact game were to be released this year, but without any of the three games to precede it; does it still hold up? Can the story be just as compelling, the gameplay feel just as good, the introduction of a secondary weapon halfway through the game just as impactful? I'm willing to bet no. Whereas a game like Ocarina or Bloodborne makes sweeping technical achievements and groundbreaking gameplay loops, they aren't barred by and can stand on their own without the previous games of their ilk to back them up. I don't think the same could be said for 2018's God of War. The choice is clear, then: PORTAL ALL THE WAY BABY! <3

Anonymous

Both of these will be in the HoG one way or the other.

Anonymous

Gotta go Portal overall. It's just so unique and innovative that the decision is clear to me.

Anonymous

Went with Portal. This is the Hall of Greats. Not the Hall of great right now.

Anonymous

I boycott this poll. They tied, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t both go in.

Anonymous

If it was Portal 2, I would have voted for it instead of GoW.

Anonymous

God of War 2018 will not be revered in 2030, the way Portal is revered in 2019

Anonymous

God of war is an over all much better game. Portal is amazing but come on boy!

Anonymous

I really wasnt that into GOW so I have to go Portal

Calvin Delaney

Games are Great when they come out, Ocarina of time did not need years to become great it was great the day it came out so its not too early. A Vote for God of War is a Vote for... God Of War.

Anonymous

Way too early for God of War. There should be a rule set for games that have released within a certain time-frame for them to be eligible or not. Michael Jordan wasn't in the Hall of Fame immediately after his retirement. I understand that both Hall's can't be the same rules wise but it's something to consider.

Anonymous

Portal changed my perception of what is possible in the medium.

Anonymous

Too early for GOW so Portal gets my vote; don't get me wrong GOW should definitely win, but a few years from now

Anonymous

Good luck to both games. As both probably deserve to be in the Hall of Greats I am hoping to start a discussion so I formatted something in a fun way I don’t know if the formatting will stay consistent in a Patreon message but here goes. We the under signees, support a non-binding resolution in which the support FOR and AGAINST an amendment to the laws governing the EZA Hall of Greats be determined. Such an amendment would consider adding a moratorium, or a minimum period of time between a game’s release date and nomination for the EZA Hall of Greats. For reference this moratorium will hereinafter be referred to as a “cooldown”. Such support can be gauged using a Patreon post with a poll for the patrons and allies to discuss and debate the merits of such an amendment. The poll should include a minimum of two options allowing for the expression of support FOR or AGAINST the amendment, or May possible be formatted to include some of these listed options below: • I support a 6 month minimum cooldown period between a game's release date and possible nomination for the EZA Hall of Greats. • I support a 1 year minimum cooldown period between a game's release date and possible nomination for the EZA Hall of Greats. • I support a 2 year minimum cooldown period between a game's release date and possible nomination for the EZA Hall of Greats. • I support more than a 2 year minimum cooldown period between a game's release date and possible nomination for the EZA Hall of Greats. • I DO NOT support a minimum cooldown period between a game's release date and possible nomination for the EZA Hall of Greats. Upon completion of the patron’s discussion and polling period the results of the poll will be tallied such that the total number FOR a cooldown is compared against the total number AGAINST a cooldown. The official record of this poll will then be presented to the nine Easy Allies for review and consideration. Whereby, the nine Easy Allies will independently deliberate and determine if an amendment FOR or AGAINST a minimum cooldown be added to the laws governing the EZA Hall of Greats with some consideration given to the voice of the patrons. Upon such determination the outcome of the deliberations will be reported back to the patrons either in a post or in a subsequent episode of the EZA Hall of Greats Induction. We the under signees will accept and respect whatever outcome or determination is made with regard to an amendment FOR or AGAINST a minimum cooldown period by the Easy Allies and hope for a healthy, respectful and vigorous discussion on the merits of such an amendment. -L & R The under signees,

This hurts but have to go with Portal and let GOW simmer a bit more before it earns it's place within my heart.

Jonathan Figueiredo

Portal was amazing, but God of War shakes you. It reminds you of the timeless role of a father, and in today's world I think it's an important message that sometimes gets overlooked. VOTE WITH YOUR HEART PEOPLE, NOT YOUR MOUSE

Anonymous

Portal's legacy and impact on the industry has earned it a place in The Hall of Greats. GoW will get there, but we need some time and perspective first. It's too early to be included. Portal all the way.

Bells aka Caprica

Not sure I believe in the "too soon" argument. But I will say this: if the arguments and cross-examinations matter to people then to me the answer is clearly God of War. I think Jones did a great job with Portal. BUT I think Brad did just as well, and God of War was the one game where the allies were stumped during the cross-examinations. They ran out of negatives to lob at the game with plenty of time remaining. I love both games. To me it's clearly God of War, though.

Anonymous

Portal is undeniable.

Anonymous

God of War will get it's due eventually, but Portal first.

Anonymous

unfortunately haven't played portal so my pick is based on what i know and have personally experienced. GOW.

Anonymous

God of War is too soon, it's too close to the hype to be sure it's greatness is measured without recency bias (even if unintentional). If everyone is still high on it in 2020 then we know it is truly great.

Anonymous

I agree that God of War probably shouldn't have been eligible, but it was and I don't think voting for Portal because of that is right. Vote for the game you believe is more deserving of the title and then give feedback so they helpfully change the rules going forward.

Michael Miller

I believe Portal 2 is more revered than Portal. I also believe that GOW will be fondly remembered in the next decade for the way it revived a dead franchise and made us care about its protagonist.

Robert I.

Didn’t watch yet, but this spoiler didn’t hurt.

Anonymous

Great idea. Personally like the 2 year wait before being eligible for nominations. GoW literally just won GOTY. Need some time out of the public zeitgeist first.

Anonymous

Tough decision. Going with God of War soley because it might very well be the best game I have ever played. Portal was such an innovative title from a gameplay perspective, but God of War felt like it mastered so many elements of game design that were learned over the years

Anonymous

Go vote God of WAR BOI(voters). :P

Anonymous

Portal is a Masterpiece. God of War needs time outside of the zeitgeist. It's too recent.

Michael Miller

The cake is a lie lawlll XD Nah, I voted for God Of War. I do love Portal though.

Anonymous

GoW is great but is too young to be in the Hall of Greats just yet, it has yet to stand the test of time, unlike Portal which deserves to be in just as much as GoW. Also, Portal might not get another chance but we ALL know that GoW is coming back later if it doesn't get in now.

Anonymous

God of War easily deserves this place over Portal. Portal is good but not amazing, the things that God of War have achieved is truly amazing and even if it is really new it certainly deserves this position more than Portal. That Cory was able to take this game that was already stuck in a franchise and a certain game design and adapted it to a more modern gaming design is truly astonishing. Him taking a very one dimensional character (Kratos) and make him fleshed out and interesting is truly astonishing. The game is just top down solid which Portal isn't. To me it is just a matter of what did the game achieve more than the other and there is where GoW really proves its worth. Have to also say that I agree the game is too young but when it's a matter of competing at a game like Portal, I don't think that "it being too young" is a good enough argument for Portal to take it's place.

Daniel Murray

Portal has stood the test of time and has left its mark. I would be happy with God of War here but, as with many others, its too soon. Plus, portal introduced me to half life 2!

Brandon K Gann

I wouldn't be shocked at all if we get a repeat of the second Hall of Greats where the loser of this poll gets brought back immediately and gets in.

Anonymous

GoW would not be a game that is as praised in a few years since there would be games with better, graphics, better characters, better story and better combat. Yes, maybe for the standard of 2018 GoW i really good in all those areas, but it doen't excel in any of them and it being outmatched is a question of time. We have had 12 year to see if something that outmatched portal on its strenghs come out, and it didn't with only 7 month in the market we can't say the same for GoW and so i think it has no place in the Hall of Greats for now

Michael Stevens

Portal is a glorified puzzle game. God of War is a glorified Masterpiece. Saying something shouldn't count bc its not over a decade old is nonsense. Make the right choice.

Kaleb

portal 1 is short and boring, portal 2 would get my vote though.

Anonymous

Not gonna vote myself, but I should stop stalling to play GOW

Anonymous

Easily Portal. We will forget about God of War when another cinematic game comes along with slightly better graphics.

Anonymous

Sorry, God of War. Gotta represent Digipen.

Anonymous

God of war is one of those games that qualifies as art. You don’t cry in portal. I cried in God Of War

Anonymous

Do the right thing. It’s Portal.

Anonymous

Gotta be Portal.

Anonymous

It being too young isn't really a good enough argument, I agree. Plus it's not only the graphics and the mechanics that is amazing with this game it is also the fact that Cory took something that was known for this one thing and made it into something new and fresh in a very good way. It's not any longer David Jaffe's GoW it is Cory Barlog's GoW, it is his creation now. That is how amazing the change he pulled off is.

Anonymous

In my opinion, God of War is too new to earn a spot in the Hall of Greats. I loved it, but there were serious concessions made to the gameplay in order to make a game that looks that good and focuses that much on the characters. Somewhat simplified combat with a focus on cooldowns, a zoomed in camera blocking parts of the action, a generic and fairly weak upgrade tree, long tedious sections where you do nothing but climb back and forth to mask loading screens, and a lack of enemy / boss variety is enough to keep this game from being an instant classic in my eyes, as much as I loved the story and characters deeply. Future entries may rectify this, but we have to wait and see the full repercussions before awarding the game such a lofty title. Portal is known quantity and a master class in writing, level design, and game mechanics. God of War will get another chance, but Portal deserves the slot now. It's earned it.

Anonymous

Brad said it best, "it's too new"

Anonymous

You don’t think portal qualifies as art? It’s a masterful example of storytelling!

Anonymous

Much like the sports hall of fames, I think you need an age buffer in hall of greats to let things simmer a bit

Anonymous

The thing holding me back on God of War is they reused the Trolls and Ogres with slight variations too many times for boss fights. Portal gets it.

Anonymous

Seeing Portal alongside the other Greats just seems proper -- it stands tall and fits perfectly with the inducted lineup. God Of War is brilliant, but I don't see it on the same "great" level as the Greats already in the Hall.

Anonymous

God of War has so many little things that need to be ironed out in the sequel while Portal was perfect from the get go.

Anonymous

As far as GoW being too early for HoG discussion, same can almost be said for Bloodborne.

Megan Linart

I’m voting with my heart and that is God of War and no to soon argument is going to sway me.

Anonymous

To me GoW feels the kind of game that will get outclassed by some other new game (maybe even its sequel, developers already said the next one will be bigger and better as it is an iterative series) few years from now.

Anonymous

How anyone can vote for GoW in this is beyond me. It hasn't accomplished anything outside of its franchise and never will. Relatively, it's a shallow game and thinking it deserves a spot among the greats within a couple years of release is just being blinded by its awards.

Anonymous

God of war is ONE OF THE GREATS, it's a better game and experience than portal without question. Most of the greatest portal moments are from 2 anyways.

Anonymous

I really love GoW but with portal being part of this list, I just can't I'm sorry Mr Barlog, but maybe next time.

Anonymous

God of War definitely deserves to be among the greats, but it's a brand new baby that can get in easy in a future submit. Portal deserves to be in the greats just as much and I don't know when it would be submitted again or if it would have a chance then. My vote is on Portal. Holds up and it is gaming perfection.

Anonymous

GOW b/c I unfortunately haven’t had the pleasure of playing Portal, and GOW is a damn good game.

Anonymous

I just can't let portal in HoG before portal 2.

Anonymous

If it was portal 2 I'd vote for portal. Portal was great and provided more a proof of concept. Portal 2 really showed all the potential of a game of that type. Portal 2 also really dug into GladOs's character.

Anonymous

One of the "Greats" should be a game that has ALREADY stood the test of time. If you did a HoG in 2013, The Last of Us would've been given the same consideration then that GoW is getting right now but The Last of Us was nearly banned for a year. Why? Because while it's an amazing game, it could very well have greater things ahead in TLoU2 and that should be seen first. The same should be said/thought of GoW. Portal is a game that should've sparked a sub-genre, but it didn't. Others tried, but they couldn't do it. Portal got nearly everything right mechanically on the first try.

Anonymous

But how did it get those awards? It executed on its action well (because it's God of War. It's action. Not necessarily shallow because it's not your cup of tea) and it executed on its story well. Reviewers played the game and enjoyed it, simple as that. You don't have to reinvent the wheel to be considered phenomenal.

Brogan Trull

Other than Bloodborne, it may be 3-5 years until EZA puts in obvious greats like Halo, Mass Effect 2, The Last of Us, Witcher 3, Journey, etc...

strawhatninja

I like Portal but God of War blew me away.

Anonymous

My vote goes to Portal. Whilst as a new player I did love God of War and found it "great",between these two, Prtal takes the cake! Though God Of War is surely worth a spot up there soon enough. Portal to me is simply a more complete package, and about as close to perfection as you can get. As was brought up in the presentation and rebuttal, Portal with its short length doesn't overstay its welcome, but at the same time, It's not a second to short either. Add to that the unique gameplay and the fact that it absolutely Nails the implementation of the portals and how they work in the puzzles, aswell as with the physics. I can't think of other games like that.

Anonymous

I feel Portal 2 should be inducted over the first since it felt like a complete game as opposed to an add on to the Orange Box.

Anonymous

Bruh way too early for GOW. In baseball, its about 5 years after a baseball retired before they can be considered for HOF. God of War should wait a bit longer.

Anonymous

Two absolutely fantastic video games. One older, one still in it's honeymoon phase. Portal has to get it in there. God of War will have more chances, it's still new. Also by the amount of votes it got in it's first run makes it a shoe-in for HOG eventually.

Anonymous

Portal. For jones!

Anonymous

Portal. God of War needs way more time for reflection before it can be considered a great.

Anonymous

My take: let's not talk about "legacy", or "newness", or "deserve". Let's talk about what each game accomplishes. GoW is a game with a massive scope that attempts to tell a powerful, moving story. However, with that scope comes low points, flaws, and mistakes. It's a game about spectacle and grandeur, so it's only natural that the little details fall by the wayside in the service of the big picture. It's also a game that appears specifically to a male fantasy about fatherhood and power, and is really not universal to people who don't resonate with that perspective. Portal is basically the opposite; it is as close to perfection as you can get from a non-"mechanics only" game like Tetris. Because it's scope is small, every detail is thoughtfully placed and polished to form a cohesive whole. The smallest things from how you first see your character, to the rat rooms, to the lighting in a room is all deliberate and effective. A lot of people say that Portal 2 is better, but Portal 2 expands the scope, which means it hits the same problems GoW has. Jokes fall flat. Some puzzles are far too obtuse. The subtext becomes text. Portal is exactly what it set out to be and couldn't be any better. And that makes it great. To close out: GoW is like a 5 course meal at an expensive hotel restaurant, while Portal is a single glass of Dom Perignon, sipped tastefully alongside the Seine while a nearby pianist serenades you with Clair de Lune. The expensive meal may be more "filling", but it won't stick in your mind as clearly or for as long.

Anonymous

I’m completely appalled that Last of Us only had 3 votes... THREE VOTES?! How dare you Allies.. you should be ashamed! Lol #HuberWasRobbed

Anonymous

God of War is the Avatar of video games. Trying to sneak into the HoG while it’s fresh in people’s eyes. This is why most hall of fame committees have a time requirement before becoming eligible.

Anonymous

God of War. Portal is not re-playable and is extremely dull on second or third playthroughs. GOW has replay-ability. Every Hall of Greats game has replay-ability so that for one reason or another you can go back and enjoy the game while discovering new things. Other than finding newer efficient ways to solve the puzzles in Portal, there is no world....there is no life.....and there is no story. The puzzles, while great, are not enough to warrant it being called a great since after a first play through you are not incentive's to go back.

Anonymous

Portal 2 > GoW (2018) > Portal

Kiraz

I have no doubt God of War was a good game. But thinking back to the orange box in 2007, and how Portal just lit up the world, the freshest take on the first person game in YEARS, taking all the lessons learned from half-life, and throwing in a mindbending, physics based playground..... I'm sure God of War is a fantastic game. But portal? It is a GREAT.

Anonymous

There's nothing quite like Portal. It's iconic. I'm sure we all remember the time, back when Valve still made games, when we first learned to "think with portals" and were told "the cake is a lie." Whether or not Portal 2 made improvements or if we ever see a Portal 3 release, like others have said, the original Portal has earned it's place. It was a shining star on The Orange Box, used humor unlike many other games, has an original, downright fun mechanic. Most puzzle-oriented games don't have the highest replayability but Portal is short enough to still be approachable for future playthroughs and speed runs. An old game isn't always better than a new game but especially after just winning game of the year both from EZA and at The Game Awards, God of War should still be tested by a little more time and if it holds up, which it probably will, it will have it's chance.

Zaths

Portal is just a better stand alone game. God of War (2018) works mostly because of the former entries.

Anonymous

God of War is great, but Portal's both a great game that does what it needs to do, and a game whose influence is still largely felt in PC games today. Brandon's point about it being one of the grandfather's of the 3-hour small games that include some of PC gaming's current gems rly resonated.

Anonymous

Anonymous

Something that has always been considered with HOG is impact and influence. Where GOW is undoubtedly fantastic, it's hard to say what it's long term impact will be. In contrast, Portal was hugely impactful, influencing a new generation of games with its approach to puzzles, storytelling, and physics. I have no doubt GOW will get in, but it feels too fresh. Unlike SOTC, which got in shortly after release, that was a remake of something that was already great, GOW is something we haven't had a chance to reflect on yet.

Anonymous

Portal is so good AND was so influential! It's a very big deal and should be a part of any hall of greats. One day GoW 2018 might reach that same status, but right now in 2019 Portal is the more important video game.

Anonymous

I know we don’t have to justify our votes but I just thought I would throw my two cents in the pot (what). God of War was amazing, the combat was thrilling (aside from the part where you have to rely on invincibility frames from skills in harder difficulties), story was great. But theres isn’t one thing I can say that is bad with Portal, other than “Where’s Portal 3?”. That game is perfection, all around, from mechanics that still blow my mind to well designed puzzles. Portal got my vote. Also, I’ve read comments saying the same thing out here, but I’m willing to believe that the next God of War and it’s sequel will probably make the first one look outclassed. HOPEFULLY.

There is no Honor in this Hall!

God of War. Love Portal but God of War is just more satisfying.

Anonymous

I love God of War. But for the sake of seniority I’m giving it to Portal.

Kenji Fuse

God of War. No contest.

Anonymous

Go portal!

Anonymous

Let’s just vote with a tie again so Sophie can decide

Anonymous

Love GoW, but Portal is a completely unique experience. Plus HoG is starved of games that are on PC or Xbox platforms.

Anonymous

To throw my cents in, while I think I prefer GoW overall and I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with voting for recent games, in this instance with the game clearly building towards a direct sequel I think we need to see that first to appreciate its full context within the series so while I think it is totally worthy of going into the HoG some day, today belongs to Portal.

Anonymous

Guys please, vote for god of war!

Anonymous

I love God of War with every fiber of my being, but Portal deserves entry into the HoG first.

Devon Kopec

God of War all day.

Anonymous

Remember when Valve didnt think Portal would be a crazy success and added it to The Orange Box as almost a bonus game? I feel like it is one of the greats, but one of the main reasons it is is because of the unexpected nature it had when it came out. We weren't expecting anything much and were just amazed by how crazy the extra Orange Box game turned out to be. Having said all that, God of War easily takes my vote this round.

Anonymous

I’m usually against always rewarding old games but in this case I can’t. God of War is my favorite game of 2018 but Portal is such a landmark game. It’s deserves to be in the Hall of Greats. God of War will gets its due eventually.

Anonymous

I prefer GOW to portal but portal deserves it more. That's like inducting lebron James into the hall of fame before Michael Jordan!

Mr. Zayler

Some people suggesting Portal was great because of the surprise of it included in the orange box. I didn't even know it was in the orange box, my brother installed it on my computer and told me to play it, and I still thought it was one of the greats at the time. Amazing game.

Anonymous

God of War will be tested by age, like all fine wines. Portal has already passed the test and still is as remarkable of an experience as it was 12 years ago, and it absolutely deserves the immediate recognition in the Hall of Greats.

Anonymous

How is this even a contest hahaha Portal deserves it waaayyy more than God of War. I'm sure God of War is a great game but you don't induct a rookie into Cooperstown.

Anonymous

Portal all the way.

Anonymous

I have not played both games. But inducting a brand new game, it will become precedent that all new games will be inducted which will makes old well deserving games may be disregarded. I still prefer “greats” inductee to be atleast a decade old. I vote for Portal.

Anonymous

Even as a Sony Santa Monica dev who worked on God of War much respect to folks on either choice. I love the heck of Portal, and consider it possibly the best puzzle game I've ever played. I'd be down to see either of these games added.

Anonymous

Gotta go with God of War. Portal was my third place vote, though, so no quarrel.

Anonymous

Only reason I’m voting for God of War this time is because I personally liked Portal 2 better. I know some may disagree but that’s just my take. Gotta say though I do love both and won’t be disappointed by whichever comes out on top this time!

Anonymous

I'd go with Last of Us over GOW, it wouldn't exist without the aforementioned game. Also I don't like putting a title that came out so recently into the greats.... I know my logic might not be legit but it seems too fresh still. Keep in mind I'm about to platinum GOW only the stuuuuupid ravens are left... so dumb. I VOTE... for neither. Good hoonting allies. RE2 TOMORROOOOWWW!!!!

Anonymous

Yeah, I'm sort of voting for Portal 2 by proxy here. I know it's not right.

RJC

I voted for Portal simply because I haven't played God of War yet but I also feel like Portal Deserves to be in the hall of greats anyway so I don't see it as a foul. Perhaps over 2019 the rules of "hall of greats" can be revised so that any title which receives GOTY is also automatically entered as a "great" game deserving of it's place in the hall ? Also just tossing it out there if any allies are reading these comments but what if in the future each ally came prepared with a classic game (I'm thinking , anything prior to the dreamcast/pre 1999 PC) and a "modern game" (PS2 or later/2000 or later). The voters would then have to select a classic game AND a modern game with their chips. Just a thought.

Anonymous

What some other folks are saying. It'd be cool to maybe do a system for goty's getting into the hall.

Anonymous

Come on, God of War

Anonymous

It's Portal. GoW can wait for a bit. You don't get to release and get rushed in.

Anonymous

Portal, because: a) I've actually played Portal and still feel very warm towards it. b) It really is too soon for GoW. Everything I've heard suggests that it is legitimately a great achievement, but we should be wary of 'the heat of the moment'. c) I thought Brad's presentation wasn't very convincing - a lot of pandering and yellow-cardworthy direct questions to the Allies. It was entertaining, don't get me wrong, but I thought Brandon did a much better job of justifying his pick.

Anonymous

Both are clearly great but Portal is virtually flawless and while it has an endless string of imitators since it's release, none have come close to it. It gets my vote easily.

Anonymous

Portal is flawless.

Anonymous

God of War 2018 is my favorite game this year. It's amazing top to bottom. But it just came out. Hall of Greats to me should be a celebration of the games that have been formative to us as gamers over the years. Portal has been an inspiration and aspiration for gamers and devs for years. GoW will be there, today is Portals Day.

Anonymous

Do the right thing community, Portal was an absolute game changer and a wholly unique experience. God of War while a very strong title absolutely stands on the shoulders of previous giants like Last of Us, Dark Souls, and Resident Evil 4.

Anonymous

I’m taking this way more personal than I should be

Anonymous

This is too stressful, 6 more days of watching this poll?

Anonymous

Both games are amazing but I have to give this one to Portal. One of the reasons why is because Portal already stood the test of time. It was amazing when it came out, it was amazing one year, two years, 5 years later and it still is amazing. As much as I loved playing GoW the game has not yet even been out for a year. It's still too fresh in my opinion to really know for sure if it will still be as amazing as Portal in a year or two. As a suggestion, I would not be opposed to a rule where only games that have been out for 2 years (or at least 1 year, also in the West just because of some games that release much earlier in Japan in Japanese only) could be nominated. Newer games have the GOTY's, but the HOG should be reserved for games that over many years managed to preserve their greatness. Also the impact a game has had on a platform, a genre and games in general and players alike can only really be felt after some time has passed and I think that aspect is very important for something like the HOG. At least that's my take on this. This analogy might not be the best, but just like in sports, a new hot player will never get into the Hall Of Fame or get a lifetime achievement award for just performing well in one season. Also, I'm taking this way to seriously but hey, it's fun. Also also Jones killed it with his presentation.

Evan Pappas

Portal defined a generation. God of War, while a change for the series, just became the type of game we've seen elsewhere. It's fun, but it's also an extremely tropey and cliche-filled "AAA" game. We've seen God of War before, and we will see it again in the future.

Anonymous

No reason except the long-established rules saying that ties are to be broken by Patreon voting anyway.

M I K E Y M O

God of War was good but Portal was a game changer that hold up today. Plus the presentation was great.

Anonymous

Haven’t watched HOG yet but the final three were spoiled on a retweeted twitch clip so might as well vote 🙈

Anonymous

Nah it's been almost 4 years since it's release, a long time in terms of video games and certainly long enough that the fact it still sticks to people proves worthiness.

Andrew Chalmers

Easy vote for me. I voted Portal, mainly because GoW is simply too new. I don't trust games that are still in their honeymoon phase. I know "newness" seems like a weak argument, but recency bias is a real thing that shouldn't be overlooked. Another problem, regarding its newness again, is that I could easily imagine a circumstance where once GoW wraps up its trilogy that people would want one of the other games in the trilogy in there instead of the first one (but wouldn't want to over represent the franchise/trilogy at the same time - thus the issue of voting it in too early).

Anonymous

Portal for certain. While God of War is a masterpiece it's too new the argument to receive a place in the Hall at this point.

Anonymous

For me, Portal is far more unique of an experience and nearly flawless in what it sets out to do. GOW is a marvel in most areas but I think falls short in some, level design mainly. Vote goes to Portal.

Anonymous

It's unfair to give God of War this vote when it borrows so much from The Last of Us.

Anonymous

I actually think GoW is a better game but I’m giving my vote for Portal because it’s been brought to HoG before and GoW is a little too new for me to feel earned.

Anonymous

Naw, even GOTY winners shouldn't automatically mean it deserves to be one of the all-time greats. Everything earning it's way in is the beauty of these sorts of things. Respect the process!

Anonymous

God of War is too new!! Portal has earned its keep. God of War will be back, I'm sure. Portal is a TIGHT, funny, timeless, damn near perfect video game. Please don't disappoint me, allies. L+R

Anonymous

Too soon for God of War, and personally I had a ton of problems with it. I think Portal is a unique game which changed a lot about how the industry perceived genres.

Anonymous

I agree. I think we need to give it some time to breath so that we can all really assess where it falls for us. I really enjoyed God of War. I thought it was really good. However, I also think that recency bias can be really strong, and I think there needs to be time to properly reflect.

Anonymous

Yeah I think it's just too soon to induct GoW, regardless of how good it is. Portal on the other hand has stood the test of time and still stands out as a unique and succinct piece of design that is great in it's brevity.

Anonymous

GoW probably deserves to be there but it's way too soon.

Anonymous

Portal still holds up!

Anonymous

GoW may be game of the year but it is too soon to say it is one of the greats. If we went by GOTYs then The Last Guardian would be one of the greats. If GoW truly is one of the greats it will have another chance at redemption. Portal is a game that was unlike any other and still is wholly unique. Your vote counts! Use it wisely.

Anonymous

I agree with others. We've had over a decade to see if Portal holds up, and I believe (as others do) that it absolutely does. God of War has yet to prove itself in the same way.

Anonymous

I am also of the opinion that it's a little too fresh to vote GOW into the Hall of Greats, even though it was my GOTY vote. I personally think that games in the Hall of Greats should not only stand up to contemporary scrutiny, but the scrutiny of hindsight and it's lasting impact on both me and it's own series or other games going forward. I'm not willing to say that God of War isn't deserving of being in the Hall of Greats, only that it's currently an incomplete assessment. Portal, on the other hand, is a game with a sequel, who's direct impact can be measured and witnessed - and a game that has aged well, in both memory and impact. So Portal gets my vote this time.

Anonymous

Looks like Portal is going to win. People need to remember this is all fun and games but TLOU SHOULD HAVE WON, THIS IS INCONCEIVABLE. FUCKING DISGRACE TO THE COMMITTEE

Anonymous

Portal is perfect in what it does. In GOW you row a boat too much. You spend 5m getting somewhere while exploring only to find you can't beat the Knight at the end because of an arbitrary level handicap. Fast travel takes too much time, especially if you need to move between realms - for some stupid reason you can't just fast travel to another realm so you spend a few minutes. Becomes more of an issue as you get further. Enemies have too much HP. Boss fights kinda lacking. Doesn't feel good to fast tap R1 button, but using classic face buttons handicaps you. Lastly God of War 2018 2 is going to be better than 1 anyway. Yes portal 2 may be better than 1 to some, but 1 doesn't have any pitfalls, it's still perfect in what it does.

Naughty

Europeans are waking up now, this aint over yet.

Anonymous

My two picks were pretty much a lock (TLOU and Bloodborne) until Brandon presented Portal; then things got messy. Was kinda surprised TLOU went out so early but when it did Portal and Bloodborne were my personal picks. I don't think anybody thinks that GoW doesn't belong in the Hall but since its relatively newer than everything else it can wait.

Anonymous

God of War isn’t even GOTY material guys, come on. It’s based on a tried and true single player formula. It’s a safe blockbuster of game. It’s not an industry defining gem of a game, but a refinement of various trends. Now TLoU, that’s a gaming landmark right there. Portal is one, too.

Anonymous

I've never played Portal (I did play 2), but I understand its significance. God of War was a fun game to platinum. But once I realized that all those good talking segments, especially on the path (or whatever that fast travel was called), are just loading screens, GoW charms wore off.

Anonymous

God of War is an amazing video game. It does so much right and is near perfect in execution. However, while not perfect, Portal is like nothing else. There is no equivalent to Portal - it stands alone as a revelation. We didn’t even know we wanted something like that until we got it. That to me means Portal gets my vote.

Anonymous

Had to go with GoW because Portal 2 is clearly the best Portal game. Portal 1 is just too short and the story is so much more in depth in Portal 2. God of War is an instant classic.

Anonymous

Normally I'd say that it's way too early to vote GoW into the Hall of Greats. We don't know how well it will hold up (Although I'm pretty sure it will). However, Portal 2 is just way better than Portal 1. Portal seems like a prototype for what Portal 2 eventually became. So I have to go with God of War.

Anonymous

I love Portal 1, but please no. Portal 2 is a way better game. Portal 1 feels more like a demo than a full fledged game in itself.

Anonymous

I think there should be a new rule, excluding games younger than 1-2 years or so, from being nominated. While GoW is undeniably a very good game, I believe impressions and feelings are still pretty strong, especially coming off of that GOTY discussion. My 2 cents. L&R

Anonymous

TLoU probably wouldn't get that many votes from the allies, to he honest. Not nearly as loved as those Nintendo games.

Anonymous

Portal 1 changed the rule book. Portal 2 just expanded on that.

Anonymous

whats going on with the voting here? Portal is great, but this is GoW we're talking about here. it's the culmination of the original series, TLOU, and Soulsbourne all wrapped into one. too many people over thinking this one.

Anonymous

agreed...honestly there shouldn't even be a vote for tie breaker right now. should just be bloodborne and tlou.

Anonymous

but you make no mention of bloodborne having already entered. i take it this game is the exception to your rule?

Anonymous

everyone acting like bloodborne came out over 10 years ago or something. its a current gen game that's just about to turn four. what am i missing here with these "its too new" arguments?

ToastIX

If It were Portal 2 it would have received my vote. It improved the original in every conceivable way and it was a full length game. God of War can easily be considered one of the greats.

Anonymous

Wow, it seems I predicted wrong the audience here. A bummer.

Anonymous

For me sure Portal has innovations, but God of War shouldn't be held back only because it decided to perfect things. Honestly, for that game, in that genre, to do the things it did, with those characters. That's just something that no one expected at all. Maintaing that one shot feel, through all the action and exploration. The way it managed to make connect to Atreus, like no other game made me connect to an NPC. The realm room itself, I honestly don't remember the last time something like that made me watch in awe as the room just transitioned itself to the different realm. And this is coming from someone who hadn't even played the other God of War games! How this game managed to get players like me, that had never played a single minute of these games to connect to these characters is outstanding. It delivered a sense of familiarity, I felt like I knew these characters and their struggles, and that was just from the opening of the game. And this goes without mentioning any of amazing and just perfect combat. What a experience it was when I first time recalled the axe, nothing is like that satisfying thud in your hands as the axe just perfectly comes back. All the abilities, all the moves they all have weight behind it, and that is massively hard to do. Believe me, I respect Portal for what it has done, but it goes back to the argument that shot GTA 3 and Deus Ex down. Sure they're games that are innovative and set the path for a lot of games, but those games themselves have sort fallen behind. And I forgot to mention the music! Just absolutely brilliant, from the haunting yet beautiful "Memories of Mother", to the visceral titular track "God of War", this game is just so amazing. And I feel as if it has suffered from backlash just because it has been praised so much. People are contrarian, and always like to poke holes into things that are being praised overwhelmingly. This is a game that will be looked on fondly in the future.

Kenji Fuse

At first I thought this was a masterful troll. Then I realized you were serious. Lol

Anonymous

God of War is great but too early to enter the hall of greats. Portal is spectacular and nothing else quite like it!

Anonymous

I loved the boat, it gave much needed respite to the combat and action, it was a safe space. The level cap is good, and you can beat the knight if you're good enough. It's an extra challenge if you want. You do realise that fast travel time is just the loading? It's the exact same as a loading screen. Enemies don't have too much HP in my opinion, if they had less the combat would just be boring, because they would have to either add more enemies, or the combat would just be boring killing everyone easily. You found the Stranger fight lacking? Or the one against the dragon, or the one against Thor's brother? Those were amazing boss battles by the standard of any game.

Anonymous

Portal 2 >> Portal GOW >> Portal

Anonymous

I think the gameplay of God of War easily stands up on its own, especially the gameplay loops. I haven't played the other three games and I was emotionally attached to everything that happened.

Anonymous

I hate this argument, if it already stands up to these games then shouldn't it go in? There's a reason there isn't an arbitrary age limit on inductions, if a game is good enough it should go in. That should be the only rule.

rkhc

This is probably blasphemous, but I don't think God of War should be included at all, personally, even ignoring the fact that it's new. Like Hector mentioned, it's a well made but safe blockbuster of a game that does everything well and is packed with high end production value and a well told movie-like story rather than any real stroke of genius, mechanically or artistically-- something Portal is in spades. It may be the most ambitious, mistake-free (unlike RDR2), and technical standard-meeting game at the moment, but it's the kind of game that future games will probably just end up out-doing (much like it did over the same types of games coming before it). Also, in terms of personality, wit, identity/style, and charm (elements I find way more important than surface-level strengths), it really can't compete with Portal, IMO. I also think that the artistic experience of Portal 1 was superior and significantly more timeless than Portal 2, despite the polish/quality of life/accessibility improvements and the successful attempt to cover more bases with fewer hiccups. There was an actual unforgettable/palpable/strangely sinister mood and sensation to it that Portal 2 lacked. The primary beats of Portal 1 were so much more inspired (the Cake is a Lie joke, the Still Alive track, the clinical minimalism, the premise, the slow realization of what's happening and the way it's treated with humorous irreverence). I kind of liken it to Alien vs. Aliens, and I think Alien was clearly superior for similar reasons. And don't get me wrong, I like all of these games.

PedroPBO

Portal is such an obvious Great. Can't believe GoW is even in this tbh.

BeardedScotsman86

I am going Portal. Both make sense, but GoW will get in later, this is probably Portals only chance

Anonymous

I seriously can't believe how you just brazenly brush aside God of War because it has a high budget. The gameplay has its own touch of artistry, seriously that axe recall is a touch of genius. Those barbaric swings, the weight it carries, it's all art to me. I mean all the design on those worlds, those characters. You brush aside this game as if it's some corporate machine game like COD, but this had an extremely personal story to Cory. I mean that scene with Kratos where he takes a drink and just goes ah, had so much charm behind it, it actually put tears of happiness in my eyes. The music alone is just so beautiful alone, that alone can tell you a story.

Anonymous

Portal is absolutely brilliant. I love God of War, and it could be a great, but not in the same year it was released. I think a great has to prove that it can really stick in your memory and never let go. While I strongly feel that God of War will be like that, I also believe we can't be sure unless we give it some time.

Anonymous

I didn't even like God of War tbh, i really don't get it. Portal was incredible though (although the coop of the second one was the peak of the series, for me).

Marius Smit

Too soon for God of War.

Anonymous

Yeah, I agree. God of War is really, really, REALLY good and deserves GOTY and all but it's too soon for an entry into the Hall of Greats. Portal on the other hand is a fantastic game and totally deserves it.In the end, though, it doesn't really matter because Bloodborne won and that is all that counts. ;-)

Anonymous

Oh man, God of War climbing back since last night - didn't expect that. Come on Portal!

Anonymous

I love God of War. It definitely deserved the GOTY, but I had to vote for Portal. I think people sometimes misunderstand the argument that a game shouldn't be inducted because it's recent. It's not about honouring older games first, but making sure that the honeymoon period isn't unfairly bolstering opinions of newer games. Sometimes you need distance to figure out where a game truly stands in the grand scheme of things. Also, Portal is definitely one of the greats. It might be harder to make the call if God of War were up against a lesser game.

Anonymous

I'm rooting for Portal because it still stands the test of time. God of War is incredible, but it's so new that it feels weird to call it " one of the greats" this soon.

Anonymous

Where will the winner be announced?

Anonymous

God of war is a style perfected...but there was no game as Portal before it...

Anonymous

GOW deserves to be in the HOG eventually, but there are too many games that should be above it. Voting Portal.

Anonymous

Portal is one of the greats.

Anonymous

Hmm...i chose God of War, but if it was Portal 2 it would have been a tougher choice. Portal 2 really perfected what 1 set out to do for me. However, I think both games deserve to be on anyone’s list of best games ever.

Gabriel Indriago

Like Brad said, portal 2 is way better

Anonymous

Haven't played GOW yet. Portal gets the vote.

Anonymous

Portal 2 is a great game, Portal always felt like a test. God Of War is a masterpiece.

Anonymous

Cmon.... God of War. Its an instant classic.

Anonymous

I've played both Portals and have never touched a God of War game, but GoW still gets my vote. A strong narrative is the most important factor in game design for me, so I have to give that game props. Plus I felt Brad made a really good argument. ...I just wish Link's Awakening made the cut.

Anonymous

GoW is not a complete game to me, story wise.

Anonymous

Love God of War, definitely my game of the year, but I feel like we need to at least wait for the sequel and see how it compares, where the story goes, etc. Not sure if there should be an amount of time you have to wait for hall of greats or not, but it's not a horrible idea.

AH

Can't forgive chat if GOW doesn't win

Anonymous

I understand the argument for God of War being too new, but the game resonated with me so much from story, to exploration, and gameplay that I had to pick it. Portal is an amazing game though, so I'm okay with either pick lol

Anonymous

To me, the Hall of Greats is a place where the most influential, and just darn great games deserve to be. I would suggest that by this I think both are welcome additions. However, when forced to choose between one of the two, I would suggest that the influence of Portal far exceeds that of GOW. Yes that's because of age, but, if GOW is not in today, one day I'm sure it will be.

David Kramme

Sadly I never played the original Portal so I went with GOW, though Portal 2 is in my top 3 games all time.

Anonymous

Law of More People have played Portal is going to fall in its favor. That being said, they are both fantastic titles. Having to choose between them is almost too cruel. But when I think about how/why Deus Ex is banned for 1 year, it all makes more sense. Portal = Innovation God of War = Evolution And just like many people would say 2D Platformer pioneers (Mario) are much more superior and important to the the industry than those that surpassed them, Portal falls into this category as well. But for me...One went beyond a Perfect innovative Puzzle game. They both made me feel, but one made me feel in the right ways at the right time. No matter which one get's 2nd, I can't argue nor would I want to, they are both solid titles. Can't go wrong with either. But I am for God of War. It's more innovative to the age and maturity of Video Games. This game changes this. I'll just leave this right here: <a href="https://youtu.be/FQQh8L1Rf7g" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/FQQh8L1Rf7g</a>

Portal is a classic. God of War (2018) will have it's day.

Sekiro505

Come on Portal!!

Anonymous

God of War is a lie.

Anonymous

Can't put a game in without a little time to reflect on it's overall impact. Portal please.

Anonymous

It's God of War. :*

Anonymous

True. Nothing of what you said is wrong. I look at it as the difference between building a drawing vs. a sculpture. The sculpture has a lot more room for error. That doesn't mean it should automatically get a Gold Star because it was more difficult, but it's important to measure. Portal is an excellent mechanic with a test-based system that works over and over...Not unlike Angry Birds or any other trial based title. It's better cause it was (still is) a unique specific concept, beautifully crafted by the amazing talent of Narbacular Drop and Valve, and is fueled by an engaging (albeit creepy) plot that pulls you in, without becoming stale by the game's end. But despite it being an A+++ for innovation, it's a fair argument to say that it's not better than God of War. We had never really thought with Portal Warping tech in games before, even though it existed for many years. Applied to an incredible physics engine of the time, powered by Source, it was the finest execution of said mechanic in a 3D space. But it didn't reach beyond that. It found what worked, and repeated that. Use Physics with Portals...Use Physics with Portals. It's wonderful! A blast! I love it! The simplicity is what works, and why Jones' comment about Portal 2 is a common agreement with fans. When you look at "The Reach" of each title, there is less concern for error with Portal cause it doesn't try to go beyond what they know works...Like Mario Bros. Technically speaking, we've pushed beyond Mario Bros...Even Mario Bros. pushed beyond Mario Bros...But Mechanically, it hasn't changed much. Adding features for features sake can be a detriment to a game, that can break or cause issue, so when one succeeds with new mechanics (and several of them) it can be an impressive Reach (if successful). Portal -Gameplay 1st -Story 2nd God of War -Story 1st Gameplay 2nd But while Portal's story was given very little attention on the whole (simple, but effective) God of War was given a lot of attention to the Gameplay. It just focused more on the story. Like I said, they are both excellent titles, but I do often see that Successful Simplicity is rewarded more often than not vs. Successful Complexity.

Easy Choice God of War

Star Tsurugi

God of War. Portal devolved into two many memes.

Anonymous

I think if a game wins Game of the Year from this allies, it should automatically be inducted into the Hall of Greats. Or maybe make it so all games can only be eligible 12 months after their release and if a game wins GOTY, it gets a shot at being inducted, separate from other candidates in a given stream, where all allies vote on whether or not it should be allowed in as a test of whether it stood the (admittedly still small) test of time for the group or not. (Ex: Devil May Cry 5 wins EZA GOTY in 2019. In the first HoG stream of 2020 after DMCV's 1 year anniversary, the Easy Allies end the stream after successfully adding two new candidates by voting on whether DMCV should be inducted into the Hall and if it doesn't get a majority vote, it goes into the pool of potential candidates that have to go through the traditional process).

rkhc

Why make the process so needlessly complicated? You wouldn't expect a game to be released every year that is deservedly Hall-of-Greats-worthy anyways.

Anonymous

The hall deserves a PC game at this point

Anonymous

I think GOD OF WAR should take it , but perhaps it's still too new and fresh in our minds. Portal has made a huge impact beyond just being a game, spawning music and memes and merch that have seeped into normal pop culture. Let's see how God Of War sits one, two years from now.

Anonymous

Portal is lame. Valve is lame. The cake is cringy.

Anonymous

Come one, allies! Let's put God of War there! Let's be bold! Let's celebrate current greatness! \o/

Anonymous

How exciting to have a tie, happy to have a chance to participate. While I wasn't overly enthused with Tetris getting in, it's a recognition of a game that has firmly carved its place in gaming history, and time seems to show Portal has carved a place as well.

Anonymous

Let’s go Portal! Let’s not be swayed by recency bias! #TheCakeIsAGreat

Anonymous

Everything God of War did is much more impressive than what Portal did. It‘s just a good puzzle game. Picking Portal over GoW??? Can‘t understand that.

Anonymous

I love God of War, it's my GotY 2018. Still, it's too early for it to be considered into Hall of Greats. Portal has shown that it's legacy is lasting time nicely. It introduced mind-boggling puzzle mechanics and GlaDOS. Still Alive is such a great song!

Anonymous

"God of War" easily deserves to be in the Hall of Greats. Portal is a great game and I think it does deserve to be inducted, eventually. However if we are doing a side by side comparison of these two games, "God of War" clearly stands high above for it's achievements in technical prowess, emotional story telling, enthralling combat, and captivating world design.

rrice64

God of War takes the Sony 'third-person movie game' and refines it further. Portal defied expectations, created something completely new, and is absolutely worthy of being defined as 'great'. God of War seems more flavor-of-the-month, especially considering even in the stream itself it was said that 'i think God of War ate some of those Last of Us votes.' Portal is the one out of these two that truly deserves it.

Christian Thomas

For anybody jumping in last minute to this showdown I highly recommend loading these comments up because this on going discussion of videogame legacy has been exhilarating to consider as you cast a vote. Gotta truly appreciate the reasoning here from all points of view :)

Anonymous

This is a long poll.

David Rodríguez Madriñán

These are 2 very good games but you can't argue with Jones' point that Portal is a perfect 3 hour bite that leaves all padding out, while god of war still has dozens of samey battle rooms with hundreds of colored pieces of gear to kind of glance at once.

Mikey "MyxeQ" Novak

GOD of WAR is Fantastic. But I need to see its legs. Portal still seems relevent to me. From both a technical and Pop Culture view.

Anonymous

Portal 2 is a better game!!! Vote GoW and let's get Portal 2 in next go around

Anonymous

Why is age an issue for the Hall of Greats? Bloodworth said it best, "Just because something isn't timeless, doesn't mean it's not Great." That goes both ways. "God of War" might be only a year old, but it doesn't make it any less great or any less deserving to be in the Hall of Greats. Not to mention I think it's pretty hypocritical to let a 3 year old game like "Bloodborne" in (which I insanely adore and does deserve induction), and have "God of War" left out. Please make the right decision; and let the greater and more profound game ("God of War") into the Hall of Greats. Otherwise, induct them both in, make everyone happy and call it a day.

Anonymous

For god of war to even be against portal considering how new it is shows just how much love there is for the game. If it doesnt get in this time, there is still years to come where it can try again

God of war has to get in as well ..this is so wrong.

Portal is so overrated

Anonymous

I'm voting for Portal because God of War is too fresh. In order for something to be worthy of Hall of Greats it needs to stand the test of time.

Anonymous

Congrats to Portal. Although I personally think Portal 2 is a better game, and I believe God of War is a definite great in my eyes, Portal was a nice surprise within the Orange Box that, at the time, I had no idea what is was. I played through it in one sitting cause I was so intrigued by it. I even showed it to my parents and even they were interested in it’s concept, especially those endless loop sequences.

The best game won, good job Allies.

Just catching up on months of EZA stuff I have missed. Glad that Portal got in! It deserves to be there. It is a unique game with fun gameplay. The story is just a plus. I also love that Tetris got in!
