Greetings,

In this installment, I review what it means to be family and tie it to why it's important to keep the bonds we share between siblings. As well as how we can share a sibling bond with those who are not biologically related to us.

This episode also reminded us the importance of expressing ourselves to those we love and the impracticality of trying to live up to someone else's shadow. Apple Bloom and Big Macintosh already did a good job of showing how expressing ourselves is important. But it was Big Macintosh's methods of trying to come out of Applejack's shadow that ultimately shot him in the foot.

He realized it at the end of the race. But it would have been much easier to stay out of that race, where he has much more power to be the role model he wants to be. There's no need to be great like someone else. Find the way to be great like yourself and take pride in that.

This one was tough for me to write. I pull most of my writing and knowledge from study of scripture backed by personal experience. However, when it comes to siblings, I'm lacking in good first-hand experience here. The secondary themes presented also made it difficult to concentrate.

But eventually, I remembered when I learned the same lessons as Apple Bloom and Big Mac from this episode. Though they don't always apply to my sisters and brothers, since I learned this lesson, I've tried my best to apply it elsewhere - like Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo. Hopefully, between this episode and this video, some of you can try to rekindle your relationship with your siblings and avoid some of the problems that I've had. Or perhaps avoid repeating problems you already have.

Be sure to let me know what you think.
