So I spoke too soon about things going back to normal after the storm. Turns out it's one of the worst 2 weeks of living at my place. We have power and one of the areas unaffected, but had to redistribute to affected areas til they got to fix shit up.

Everyday for 12 days, we have no electricity for 6-9 hours. Internet was as bad as one of their towers was hit affecting us to a crawl. I can't even load patreon to reply to messages. But I do read them from the gmail with its handy dandy dialup display option.

 Electricity has finally stabilized, internet is wonky but I can load up patreon more successfully now, so apologies if I was again out of range. Really wanted to keep everyone updated but the internet just won't let me and I can't risk logging in at shops specially in this country.

At the time of calamity, my daughter turned 3 last 27th, so it was also eating some time. Knowing I won't be able to do much anyways, I just did 2 hours a day coding since then and diverted my time finding animators.

I emailed a bunch of people already in my wanted list and attended local conventions and visited 3 animation studios here. There have been several people interested that meets the requirements but had no porn samples to show. They said they'll send over a loop or two, so I'll bring news when they do.

LUCKILY, in one of my wanted list and animator I have been following for a time now, Chris Armin is very interested to work FULL TIME for Divine Arms. And man, just look at the sweet animation. Perfectly fits Divine Arms if you ask me.

 

Anyway, I'm closing the deal with him soon, so I was wondering:

Should he follow the style I do for Siggy's face? Or let him do his own rendition? The hairstyle and everything will be the same but I'm wondering if he'd do the face instead. I'm personally fine with it, but I sure like to hear your thoughts.


Here's also what's going to happen and what he will animate as soon as he gets viperv official: The first area has 5 monsters: Ganker, Bloodhunter, Rapevine, Fungus Brute and probably Bloodhunter chieftain.

(great mother, internet just died again while I was typing this. smh)

He will do the animations on everything not covered yet, and redo everything I've done. The old ones I did will still be in the game but be optional or gallery unlocked. The same way that happens when I start inviting guest artists / animators. Our works go there while we keep everything consistent with Chris' style.

 

Anyway, we'll pay him well and will go about some legal stuff to sign and impose some reasonable rules, so we don't keep off track again. I never planned to do this solo and after some time that I was, everything was sad, heavy and stressful.

Early next year, we will also have someone manage the whole campaign, (weekly updates, animated sketches to show, etc.) run the planned website and hire extra staff for everything else needed to run this better than I do alone.

Anyway I still owe you guys the video update and I am working on it. All I needed was the power to truly stabilize and finish personal stuff.  Rapevine AI is still shitty. Once I get that better working, I'll start doing the new minigame.

If you're asking for honest feedback, I'd prefer he keep the style for Siggy's face. Siggy is perfect waifu, don't fuck it up. Please.

His animations are great!! As long as you're fine with it, I say let him change Siggys face to his own style.

It's good that you're okay, and I'm happy your able to get everything back together, everything takes time. As for the new animator, I like Siggy's face however his style is good too.

HOLY SHIT, I can't believe you've managed to get ChrisArmin on board! I thought he still had months' worth of commissions left to do before he could animate for Divine Arms! Awesome! As for Siggy's face, I can't really give an opinion without seeing his version of it. As long as Siggy is instantly recognizable though, I'd be fine with some tweaks to her current face.

The art, unsurprisingly, is the reason I've been pledged to this project. I mean, the art is the whole appeal of an H-game over something more conventional, so I wouldn't well be here if I didn't like the visuals of the game already. Mr. Armin's work is definitely fantastic, but there's something endearing about Siggy's cartoonish style. Not endearing like a puppy or a baby, though. Endearing like a shy japanese schoolgirl. The kind of endearing I want to put my dick in. Obviously it's unavoidable that there's going to be a change in style with a change in animators, and there's certainly nothing wrong with Armin's work, but I like Siggy as is, so my vote would go towards minimizing her changes in the transition.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Chris is an awesome animator, so I'm sure he could emulate my style even just for the face. So, yeah, I think I should ask him to do that from the very beginning.

I like the current look because it feels clean and the animations have a similar aesthetics to the gameplay . I think Armin will bring quality detail to the game since the animations preview in the post could be implemented in the game and I'd be ok with. Each animator has a certain touch that leaves a special marker in their work, which sets them apart from the rest. I didn't have to look at the name until I knew "Yeah that's Armin breh". I think it would be a great idea to see a sample of work that Armin can do for the game. Ultimately, whatever decision is made will be best, but I'd be so excited to see any of Armin's work being in progress. I love watching things while in process of work. Sorry for what happened with the weather. I am glad you're getting stable and happy birthday to your daughter. EDIT: Interested to see an example piece of Armin's interpretation of Siggy.

I'd say let Chris take a shot at Siggy's face (no pun intended) and post it in an animation so we can see it. I love his animation and art style, so it'd be awesome to see what he can do with Siggy. That also gives us a good idea of what the rest of the game will look like should he continue to do the face himself. It'd be nice to see yours and his in the same post to see which the majority like better. Sorry for rambling, but the future is looking great for this game atm, good luck with development and don't work yourself too hard!

I for one think you could easily find a few volunteers here to help do some of the website/PR side of things. I for one would be willing to donate my time and technical skills in any way i could.

Good to hear from you! Happy Bday for your child :D About the animator, I'd go either way. I personally enjoy how Siggy is right now, but his loop is so amazing I'd let him try to bring his own approach. Besides, it's less work for you to do, letting you code a little more

Same here, kReig has mentioned on numerous occasions that it can be very overwhelming to have to deal with every little aspect of this project. And who else better to help him with all the miscellaneous stuff than some of the supporters here who are already very familiar with Divine Arms?

I've seen that loop before, and yeah, Chris is definitely awesome for this project, but I really like your distinctive style as is. I figure that you two can find the happy medium and let him work his magic...rapine though it be XD

Ehhhhh....... Please don't change Iggy's face... Your artwork is the reason I became a patron in the first place.. I also stumbled upon a game you were part of "Witch Hunt". The animation from there matches what you've done in Divine Arms. I really enjoy that art style.. (.u___u).

Having gone through the tumblr, I would really prefer that Nothing change about Siggy's art style. Especially her face. I did subscribe for the original art after all. And depending on how drastic the change is, i may unsub for the change in art.

I like the current art style, its what made me want to play the game and donate to help fund its success. and I'm not sure how I feel about guest artists and animators, moreso artists. If the the game is piecemeal from several different artsyles it might be visually displeasing to look at. I am just voicing this concern, but it probably isn't worth worrying about. Keep up the amazing work!

kReig's mentioned before that the rapevine's design alone might turn away some publishers when the full game is released, so adding something like loli (which is a niche fetish that would get slammed in a poll anyway and one I don't want to see in the game either) would complicate that even further. I think it's also pretty much illegal in general.

Yeah, I agree that the art style was the entire charm of this, and as much as i like the work of that artist, I'll probably lose interest in the game... you're art is unique and i hope you're going to stuck to your guns ;)

I for one would not lose interest at all with the art change. I understand that feeling, and I do love the art the way it is. However, Armin's work is also fantastic. Regardless of which is used, so long as all the scenes maintain a level of quality, I don't see an issue. It will be a fantastic game either way, with beautiful, sexy scenes for us to see.
