Hey! Just to let you know that the new episode is up! This time it's about the game I can't stop playing: Yakuza 0. In this vid, I talk about why the game's joyous absurdity actually allows it to tell more human stories. Thank you so much for all your continued support. You have no idea how much it means to me. I really hope you enjoy it! Hamish Writing on Games

Why Yakuza 0 is a Masterclass in Managing Tone - Writing on Games

Some substories are mentioned.) Yakuza 0 is a wildly dissonant experience, swinging violently between super-serious gangster intrigue, slapstick violence and over-the-top melodrama.

Hamish, I dunno if you're much of an anime guy, much less the specific, niche sort of nerd(like me) who would follow anime critic channels on youtube, but this reminds me a lot of a video just recently uploaded by another of my favorite youtubers, talking about how Japanese media tend to be more willing to freely jump around in tone, and what that does to a narrative in general. If you haven't heard of Digibro before, I'd suggest checking him out; even if you're not much of an anime watcher, his thoughts and critiques on narrative and cinematography alone make his stuff worthwhile to me regardless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANgSVMKmSwo

Thanks for the recommendation! I've heard a lot about Digibro and have been meaning to check his stuff out for a while. Will definitely get around to that now!
