As Far as the Eye Review is Live! (Patreon)

I'm playing a bit of catch up after Spiritfarer's review took so long to get off the ground, so hey, it's already time for another one of these! As Far as the Eye is a city builder/roguelike management game. The gist of it is that you're a tribe of nomads that are moving to a safe haven ahead of a flood. So off you go through a succession of maps, gathering the materials needed keep going before the rising tide catches up with you. It's a compelling pitch, but in the end, I felt that the game's difficulty curve was a little rough. The opening few hours are pretty strict and will swat you down over minor errors, but once you're over the opening curve, you kind of escape gravity and the game ceases to find ways to meaningfully challenge you. As Far as the Eye never quite falls into that sweet spot at any point during play, but for the time I spent with it, it still wound up being a pretty entertaining time. I have a hard time ultimately recommending it as I get into in the actual review, but it does do enough right to still make for an engaging few hours.
Next up, I'm finishing my catch up spree with BPM, which I am absolutely jazzed to cover. DOOM meets a rhythm game? Those are like my two favorite things ever. Sign me the heck up!
