Whew. This one took a bit more than I thought it would! Another review is live, and this time, I took a belated look at the lifestyle sim/apartment manager, Spiritfarer. This game kind of snuck up on me a little bit. I heard a little bit about its announcement and passed on it because I was just dang heckin' busy chasing other games. But it's stuck around, and I just keep hearing people bring it up, so I inevitably caved and decided to check it out.

And boy am I sure glad I did! It took me a few hours to warm up to it, but I ended up *really* enjoying this one. I've never played a lifestyle sim willing to be so condensed and unrepetitive. It's crazy how this game shunted me from one minigame to another every ten minutes — and just never stopped doing it for the entire five hours I played. And yet, despite this frenetic pace, it still somehow pulls a magic trick by paradoxically being one of the most laidback experiences I've covered on this channel all year. I spend a lot of my review exploring that bizarre paradox, but there's plenty more to appreciate in the game too. All around, it's a treat!

Next up, I'm hitting up a strategy indie that actually came out just today: As Far as the Eye. I was hoping to have that one ready for launch day, but alas, here we are still dragging the last project across the finish line. So expect that one out as soon as I can whip it into shape, e.g. hopefully in just a few days.

Spiritfarer is Rapidfire, Wholesome Fun | Review

Today's review is on Spiritfarer, one of the fastest paced lifestyle sims I've ever played. Underneath its warm art style, there is a masterfully crafted spiderweb of spiraling mechanics and concepts, always tugging you on to the next thing every five or ten minutes. Unlike many of its genre peers, Spiritfarer doesn't ask you to dither around for hundreds of hours before you can build the farm or island paradise of your dreams, and that alone makes it a noteworthy game for this channel. But it's not the only thing Spiritfarer does right, as I'll get into in this First Five review!
