haven't seen it yet but planning on it, you can always count on ya boy Nolan for a banger

(no spoilers) I saw it yesterday, really enjoyed the movie. More of an experience really. My favorite parts was the amazing score by Hans Zimmer contrasting to eerie silence in some scenes. There isn't much dialogue in the movie and some scenes are purposely dragged on which i think was an amazing touch by Christopher Nolan as those scenes really show the fear, helplessness and the inevitableness of their situation. like goddamn the tension was real in this. Its truly is a war movie, and not one for the sake of having action. Christopher Nolan and Han Zimmer seem to complement each other so well ( dark knight trilogy, inception) and it's such a joy to watch what they produce. I will say my only gripe with the movie is that is did not show the diversity of the army( wonderwomen did). Many commonwealth countries like India played a huge role in the british army. The british army was really diverse back then with people from all over the world, but all that got whitewashed.

You have to see it in Imax, and you have to see it today, right now. Another Nolan masterpiece, and another great war movie to add to the collection.

Can i be honest? i was confused A.F. and frankly a bit bored couldnt tell which side was which or who was who. It was the only movie in which I have every left the theatre mid-way through the film. pls dont judge.

thenormies

really? that's interesting. i believe that the main point was to show soldiers as human beings, scared and trying to survive. it was not about choosing sides. this movie truly showed the power of choice everyone has. i know it was not the case in ww2. i mean in ww2 you just had to go and fight. but vietnam war? gulf war? eek. this movie does not glorify war but shows it as it is, cruel, unforgiving and pointless. i really loved how as a anybody who has been a young adult facing with the opportunity to join military can sympathize with those young boys just dying like little ants in the big scheme nolan portrayed. how insignificant one soldier's life is. and makes you really question. you know that the only reason why the soldier we followed survived is because he was the main character. what a plot twist it would be if he died mid movie and the rest of the film just showed complete chaos that dunkirk was.

I tend not watch films like this but now I actually want to check it out.

I really enjoyed Dunkirk, especially the cinematography - all the plane sequences were crazy. My only real issue with the film was that while it did have great suspense and intensity right from the opening scene, I felt that by the third act I wasn't quite as riveted, since said intensity was basically sustained at the same level throughout the entire film. Still, great movie. Also, Tom Hardy's character reminded me a lot of Bane lol

LadyVenom Way

I havent seen it yet but will get round to it at some point

Don't go in watching the film expecting Saving Private Ryan or Hacksaw Ridge because it is completely different. You don't get to know the main characters because YOU are the main character experiencing the situation with the characters on screen. Because of this, you also get as much info as each of the characters from each perspective which is why the film is edited so uniquely imo.

Lego The Office

I probably won't see it. I'm sure it is amazing but I have a hard time with war and death... I've seen too much death already in my life (Sept 11th) that I don't often get into shows or TV because certain things can make me flashback to that day. Seriously it took a lot of effort for me to get into something like Game Of Thrones, which I managed to get past because I was able to disconnect from it because of the fantastical elements of the show.

My husband is a former British paratrooper and is dying to see this. Guess we're going!

The movie was a masterpiece

Movie was great. It was shot beautifully and the scenes were very tense. The writing and acting really portrayed the emotion of the movie and made the scenes much more suspenseful. Only thing I have to complain about the movie is the focus on the characters. Many times the focus would be taken away from a character when a scene is taking place, jumping from one character to another, and in some cases, from the past and into the present time. This jump from past to present sometimes cuts the tension that the scene was building because we already know that this character would survive. Overall, I would rate the movie as a 8.5/10 Another great film from Christopher Nolan P.S. This was based off of MY opinion. This movie can really be a 10/10 or a 3/10 depending on your expectations about the movie and based on what kind of movies you enjoy.

The most REALISTIC made War movie... And by that I don't mean Historically accurate, I mean there are no Heroic Over the top Moments, No Typical Movie cliches, No Character Arc Development, No Happy endings, No Expositon, just these young men doing whatever they can to Survive this terrible event they are thrown into at that Moment! (Also No CGI) I remember the very first scene of the movie, when you hear the FIRST Gunshot I actually Ducked thinking it was real for second, not even kidding haha, it's so loud and immersive. 10/10 😊 Oh and a lot of people won't understand the TIME aspect of the movie, which took me a while to understand but; Basically it's 3 perspectives of the Event at Dunkirk over different time periods; The Mole Story (Land)- Takes place over a WEEK The Boats Story (Water)- Takes place over a DAY The Plane Story (Air)- Takes place over one HOUR And the finale is the Big moment when all time points converge, that's why you see the same characters in different stories/perspectives. It's Intense and amazing, Fantastic Music too.. Genius work by Nolan!

What scene jumped from PAST to PRESENT? It's only Cut Present to Past I'm pretty sure, therefore still having the Tension

Asadullah Khan

Planning on watching it the coming week. Can't wait.

I loved the movie! And this interview with the 98 year old veteran broke my heart. What he said was true, in his eyes the war and all wars are very sad and just seem so meaningless with all the death and destruction that are caused from them. The movie was showcasing how not all aspects of war should be glorified but remembered as a fight to survive and that it's sometimes a matter of seeing who can survive the longest. The movie itself made my heart race because of Hans Zimmer's score. The heartbeat that matched the main character in the beginning had me throughout the whole movie. It was an amazing experience because of what I've seen with Band of Brothers, and the Pacific. I hope the Normies watch those tv series in the future! They're graphic but really gives you a notion of how soldiers experienced certain aspects of ww2 in the European and pacific theaters of war!

As someone who doesn't really like war movies I actually really loved Dunkirk! I wasn't sure if I'd like it for about it for the first 5 minutes or so because theres no real build up but I ended up getting sucked into what was happening. The 3 timeline thing was a bit confusing at first but once I realized what was happening I thought it was great. It made the movie that much more compelling and really helped build up to climax of the movie when all the events align. The action sequences were really incredible and I like that there was no extremely violent scene like in most war movies. I heard some complaints that the characters didn't have any kind of arc or development which made it hard for people to care for them but for me it wasn't really necessary to give them back stories to make me care for them; I was rooting for them because I really just wanted them to live. They were human beings stuck in a terrible situation and saying they had a family back at home or something wouldn't have changed that feeling for me. Overall I thought the movie was great, idk if its my favorite Nolan movie but its definitely one of my favorites of this year so far!
