The meh episode which I'm assuming is 55 is actually adapted from the light novel along with episode 56. It doesn't exist in the manga, but the characters pop up in the manga for the following arc which is after ep56.

because the LN was made and the manga skipped them. So for the anime canon, they decided to incorporate them together to make it more consistent for viewers.

The fanzel introduction episodes are a tad weak, but they are 100% necessary for these characters to be introduced. This makes it so we aren't like wtf who are these people? When they pop back up later. These episodes needed to be placed where they were given what is coming up

This episode actually made me pause my binge and wait a few days to finish when I first watched Black Clover. Now that I know it’s not from the manga it makes a lot of sense. Totally canon though.
