Serenity C2 EP1 Devlog (30 March 2022) (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

Man, I have been so busy! For starters, my regular job just hasn't let up. So, I've had to work around that as much as possible in order to get things done with this first release of Chapter 2. But I finally crossed the halfway point in doing renders a few days ago. And that means we're getting very close. I've attached a couple of previews for you guys.

This new build will have a brand-new menu, the "episode guide" I mentioned before, plus a new transparency slider for the dialogue box! I'm finally starting to catch up with some of these little features many games have that I liked. I prefer a transparent dialogue box, but not everyone does. So, a slider to adjust that was probably my favorite addition to this new build. Text is just a bit larger, white, with a dark outline so it is very easy to read if you go full transparent. 

Right now, pretty much everything is done except for the scene renders themselves, and of course the music - which I usually add during my own play-through (proofreading). I won't give an actual release date (done with those) but I feel comfortable saying this thing should be ready within the next 2 weeks.

Episode 1 now has a title, appropriately "Time for fun". Because well, it is definitely time for these characters to just have some fun. A character will be returning with a special task assigned by MC. I think you'll all be surprised at who this character is... I won't reveal 'her' now though. As we closed out the first chapter, the girls mentioned going to the beach. This episode will pick up from there, starting with the return of Melody and Celeste and how they got there (who did it?). Plus, Kat's reaction to Triss.

What next? After this episode is released, I'll probably take a week off to play some other games, do support and apply any fixes reported. But after that, I haven't decided yet if I will work on the first episode of Last Human or move on to Episode 2 of Serenity C2. I think I may take a patron-only poll on that during the first week of release to see what you all want. I think I have all the assets I require to complete the first release of LH. And I am really anxious to get that out there so I can start getting feedback about it. For all I know, it could crash and burn - and I end up having to abandon that idea. But if it is well received, it will be good to know these things when planning my work schedule and prioritizing the future.
