this finale is so good- one of the best of the show. this whole season is highly rated & my personal favorite! i was not expecting bonnie to put klaus in tyler’s body but i guess it’s understandable why she did. the flashbacks of elena’s life definitely foreshadowed that part of her life ending- her becoming a vampire. stefan saving matt instead of elena is actually kind of a big thing in the fandom lmao. i just think that people who say stefan should’ve went against elena’s wish and let matt die don’t really understand elena or stefan’s character. well onto season 4... let’s just say it’s not my favorite season 💀

I don't understand why he couldn't save both but I think this was just no option to turn Elena. I like that Stefan respected Elenas wish and saved him instead of her. She had to be to only surviver once so she didn't want this again I totally understand her and I love that Stefan did how she said. Can't wait for the next season

I know you dont like Damon but I felt so heartbroken for him this episode. Plus I was really impressed with how he handled Elenas choice. And that he never told her they met first, even after hearing her say the words "maybe if we had met first". And I could see even you felt a little bad and hated it.

I actually agree that Elena would have always choosen Stefan season 1, she needed safety not passion and excitement. Also in case you didnt pick up on it: earlier this episode she discribed Damon as "it consumes her" and in the flashback Damon says "You want a love that consumes you". Just a little detail.

Delena met first!! I remember crying when I first saw that scene especially because she told Damon “maybe if you and I had met first” and he said “yeah maybe” he didn’t even tell her he just accepted it. In my opinion the “old” Elena who still had her parents would go for Damon, when they first met I could sense some flirting but the one who lost her parents would totally go for Stefan because he’s the safe choice so it’ll be interesting to see if vampire Elena is more like her old self or her sad self that we know. I always wondered if Damon was the one who was in town and Stefan was by himself would her decision be the same? I felt so bad for Damon he lost his best friend and the love of his life in a second, it was heartbreaking. I found it interesting that Damon saved Rebekah and told her to leave even though he doesn’t care about her while he stayed to fight Alaric. I understand Stefan but I was so mad at him, he should’ve saved Elena. He didn’t know that she had vampire blood in her system or he could’ve removed her seatbelt so she can swim but he didn’t. I still don’t understand why he couldn’t save them both. I know that Stefan respects Elena’s choices and I love that about him but when it comes to life and death he has to pull a Damon and do what’s right no matter what. Just like Matt did, Elena didn’t want to run but Matt knew she would be in danger so he did what’s right even if she hates him and even if it’s not what she wants.

I think there is something Elena doesn't understand about Stefan and Damon is that the way they feel as vampires and their instincts aren't the same as a human. Becoming a vampire means she gets to understand them a little better, which as well as the protection, is one of the problems Elena has. She doesn't fully see their perspective. It is the blood Meredith took, unless he's been making donations since.

This will probably be the only comment I leave, but I feel like many of you are forgetting how Damon was when he first met Elena. Yes she was attracted to him when we see in the flashback that he met her first, but that’s because she didn’t know him. He was a good looking mysterious stranger. If she had known that he was murdering people she never would’ve been with him. And she didn’t get with him for that reason. Yes she thought she met Stefan first but Stefan also was not killing innocent people. That was a huge factor. If Damon wasn’t killing yes she probably would’ve chosen him, but he was killing and that can’t be ignored. Also I’ve heard from several people that Damon is so honest about everything and Stefan’s not. Umm hello? Damon has literally wiped Elena’s mind TWICE. That’s called lying and not being honest. As always, I’m very confused by the comments, but that’s all I have to say.

But when they first met Damon wasn't on that killing binge and he kept a low profile (probably lived in some abandoned house or so) and only when the show started he stared the killing and showed himself to Stefan so this must have been part of his plan .....

I honestly dont see the harm in him making her forget, he was trying to keep a low profile, he went up to her thinking she was Katherine and then made her forget she met him so she wouldnt tell anyone about it. I dont see the harm in that.

Yeah me neither .... He did nothing to harm her there and didn't manipulate her to like him or so and just told her to get everything she was looking for. If Stefan wouldn't have stalked her and got in touch with her I don't think Damon would have seeked contact to her. So brothers met her in the same night and one started stalking her and finding out everything about her and the other probably just left her alone .... Who is the weird one in this scenario ?

Klaus didn't give her his blood because he wanted to kill her and not turn her. He was draining her of all her blood to let her die .... If she would have had his blood in her system she would have never had the "breakdown" to let Jeremy bring her to the hospital.

I don't think so, if he did Elena would have never been admitted to the hospital in the first place because the blood would have healed everything ....

This is how we know Damon wasn't after Elena because she looked like Katherine. Damon had his chance, but he wasn't interested because he was in love with another woman. I do agree with the point of this is the moment Damon turned on his humanity. I think the sight of Elena shocked him into it. And part of his love for Elena is the fact that she was the one who gave him his humanity back.
