Welcome to series 4! Regarded by many as Tennant's best. So glad you liked and appreciated Donna from the start. Many people were wary of Catherine Tate becoming the companion, thinking her and her character were two dimensional and annoying in The Runaway Bride, but she very quickly proved them wrong and became a favourite among Whovians. The chemistry between Tate and Tennant is wonderful to behold, and you are going to love the coming episodes, I'm sure! 😀😀👍

RTD knows how to do a fun rompy season opener that's for sure! One of my favorites. Season 4 is probably one of the best RTD seasons, but I've always found it a biiit safe in terms of formula. I'm curious to see what you think of it!

I bloody love this episode these days. When I first saw it I thought it was good, but now I just enjoy the relationship between Tennant and Tate so much and considering this was one of their first episodes together their chemistry is just astonishing. The fact you like Donna so much makes me think you're going to absolutely love this season - they write her so incredibly well throughout and you're so right regarding the fact she can do the comedy AND the pathos so well - and man... the drama she gets... Eugh. I don't wanna do spoilers but I'm just so excited :D

I am in complete agreement with you on this episode. The sci-fi stuff was silly and stupid - but Donna is my favourite 10th Doctor Companion by far. The wonderful encounter through the windows;the 'dont mate with me,sunshine!';"You don't need to explain it - I know what it is" moments. And so refreshing to finally get a companion in the new series who doesn't want to fall 'in wuv' with the Doctor. Donna is very much in the mold of the female companions in the Classic series - a pal;a travelling best friend;a bit surly;something of an attitude. Incidentally,the Doctor had male companions in the classic series;but they were always part of a bigger 'team'.

In my opinion, this is the best season of Doctor Who to this very day. I absolutely love The Doctor and Donna together. This is one of my top favourite Tardis teams. The fact that you already love Donna tells me you're gonna really enjoy this dynamic. I can't wait to see what you make of this series. I absolutely love it. You're in for a real treat! :D

One thing I enjoy with Donna is there's an adult in the Tardis. Rose was a teenager and Martha was in college. For me it's a nice change to have someone in their 30s or 40s. Someone who's experienced a little more of life and has a bit more mature perspective. Plus Catherine Tate simply kicks ass. Enjoy series 4!

Yeah I feel the same way. Donna does like to goof around, but she also has a maturity that only comes with age. It’s a nice change.
