their leaves are based off of season but can also be indicated by age? since the color of leaves are based off of a seasonal change/ systematic dying off of leaves themselves due to chlorophyll production stopping and the green color disappears.

since these are more spirit like than complete plant like, the meaning of the color change can have more variety instead of just the chlorophyll production. like a sign of struggle, maybe a genetic trait, age, and/or a seasonal change from mimicking the colors of the maple trees they emulate.

their stumps for legs could be carved into a more decorational thing, which can bring upon a convo on if they feel pain from doing that, or is it a well worth it for the look? they'll likely bleed if so, so they might use anesthetics and stoppers for the blood? I'm not sure, but I do like the idea of their bodies having some ability to be carved in some way, for aesthetic/cultural/ceremonial reasons. you know, without actually killing them. it could be like a tree thing, where you can bust up a tree and it won't die per say... maybe only certain parts of the nymph's body are good for extensive carving, or in general their bodies can handle carving and the extent of which is dependent on certain areas. or if all of their bodies are carvable, meaning they can give themselves literal holes through the abdomen...for a multitude of reasons. the ability to morph themselves could be an attractive point?

since they are part spirit, the biological aspect could be much more vague or less animal more plant like in other ways. manipulating their bodies like how some humans manipulate trees for a desired design or look. like those twisty trees.

just some other stuff to think about... to close in the parameters of their species.
