Weekly Writing Update - 1/27/20 (Patreon)

Alright, right now I'm finishing up the next update (.024) for tomorrow night. It'll probably be released at around the same time as other updates in the past, but I am still working on it so I can't give a definitive time. I'll then leave it up here for a few days so everyone can go bug-hunting before I release it on other sites.

Some good news for pregnancy fans out there though: there's quite a bit of it in this update through the Jake and Sofia dream paths. I had to make my first attempt at photoshopping a pregnant Ms. Hill and I think it came out 'okay'. I think I'll get better at is as we move forward. Luckily, there are plenty of pictures of Eva Lovia pregnant in real life, so Sofia's pregnancy was a lot easier to implement. 

Speaking of Sofia, I made some alterations to her dream path. When you get in there, you now kind of choose what future you want her to envision for herself, allowing her to go down a housewife/pregnancy path or a high-powered executive/femdom path.

Brittany's dream got a bit darker than I originally described, so now it's more of a bdsm/binding path. Just wanted to give a head's up. 

If you visit Jake or Sofia's dreams in this update, you'll see a change in the 'Current Tasks' section of their phone highlighting that you've begun to set them on a path that will eventually alter their core personality. Don't worry though, you'll have plenty of opportunities to change paths or avoid finalizing the changes altogether before anything becomes permanent. 

When I originally wrote the final Lydia scene for the end of the update, I thought it'd make things easier to write a few randomized scenes that could play in the future as well, but after hearing everyone's arguments against other randomization elements, I decided to just make this a single scene that occurs if you decide to go there on the last night of this update. I'll then do that as well for 'sandbox' visitation with characters in the future, where it's just a repeatable scene. 

Instead of randomization though, I was thinking a better compromise might be calendar-dependent scenes. So if you visit Lydia, for example, you'd get one repeatable scene if it was August 5th - 12th, but another if it was the 13th or later. Something like that. This isn't in the game or anything right now, but I just wanted to brainstorm a bit and see if this is more palatable for people.

I was also thinking that these moments where you don't really have anything going on in-game could be where you see characters and explore dreams that you otherwise would have missed out on up to this point. Like Jake right now has 4 different dream scenes, so it'd be a shame if players permanently couldn't ever see them in a single runthrough. I'd like to do something similar with other lights as well, assuming the characters are where they originally were when the scene first occurred. But that's all stuff to think about for the future and ONLY applies to periods in the story where the MC isn't involved in an actual unique event. Again, just something I'm thinking about. 

Finally, I figured I'd talk about the upcoming February poll. Brittany and Sofia/Rio aren't going to be on the poll this month because they're already getting a few story-scenes anyway. Mrs. Maywood's getting added back in, but you'll only be able to interact with her through the phone. Major lights will allow you to actually do stuff with her though, like visiting her dreams when she's far away, so that's why she's getting added back in this update.
