A strange and wonderful welcome back* to your next instalment of Atelier Barbette!

(I am compelled to write it out that particular greeting because I messed up and broke routine for the opening line of this episode – EEK! It bothers me that it's not the same as the previous 11, but not enough to re-record the voiceovers 😉 I shall return to the previously established strange and wonderful welcome backs in Episode 13, I promise 😅)

This is the final Atelier Barbette episode for JANUARY rehearsals: a look at the ballerine section and an introduction to my wonderful ballet teacher, Isabeau!

Some nice news: the artistic coordinator at La Tohu called me to say that my request for Winter Residency was being approved! They were able to offer me 16 or 17 hours in the Studio Création at the École Nationale de Cirque at the end of February and the first few days of March to keep moving forward on Le Numéro Barbette; and I'll be speaking to them again on Tuesday to see what they can offer in April to finish up the Residency process (the goal would be to do a small internal presentation in April and record the act at the end of that residency period -- EEK).

Your next episode will take a longer look at some of the ballet work 'Beau and I have been doing together to support this section of the piece further, and the singular* February Barbette/TOHU rehearsal that we had together.

You can look forward to that gracing your inboxes on Thursday March 9th at 12pm EST!  Until then, stay strange & wonderful!

XO

(*Singular, because I woke up with Bell's palsy on February 5th and spent the following three weeks resting as hard as I could to try to rehab it efficiently, and then easing back into training so I didn't sprain or strain anything. The right side of my face is mostly back in the game, but you'll see some footage in the next Atelier Barbette instalment where I'm wearing my VERY jaunty pirate eyepatch [because my right eye wouldn't close fully or properly for a few weeks there so I had to keep it protected 🥲])

That moment at the end... *goosebumps*

I just showed a few of your "atelier barbette" videos to my sister, who is visiting and is curious about the artists I support... She was very intrigued!
