Thanks as always guys. Will watch this tonight.

Man, i love Game Knights :D

Plot

I think at that point I would’ve been like “here’s my deck, you’re apparently ME now, I’m gonna go get something to eat. Peace”

Anonymous

Wow, that was brutal.

Anonymous

I started magic in high school back in 1995-1997. After graduation I stopped playing. Around 22 years later a few soccer friends were talking about the game at the time Allegiance. Shook some rust off at some pre-release events and was introduced to Commander. Love this format, choosing the commander, deck building and everything involved. It's a great time with friends. Watching these videos is just like living our own Game (K)Nights. Keep up the great work!

Anonymous

Just put together a Yarok deck since I opened a promo one at pre-release. Super happy to see a bunch of the same cards I included, and more ideas for some new ones!

Adam Daw

Yeah, this wasn't... fun to watch.

Anonymous

That was so oppressive and dirty that I feel so ambivalent over it. It’s good that I see Yarok go off and I love the combos. Yet I felt bad because I’ve been on both sides of the feel-bad fence, so I understood their reactions. Overall, this wasn’t a great episode for me because the deck was so oppressive and it looked like its power level was so high compared to everyone else that it looked more of a CEDH deck to me than anything.

Anonymous

Yeesh, this was by far the most abusive game I've seen you guys play. JLK is clearly upset about getting slaver locked, but it's hard to feel sympathetic after the two extra turns (and the third extra turn that was stolen)...

Anonymous

Yea....I don't know how to feel after watching that. Phenomenal job as always on the content Command Zone, just..jeez...savage.

Adam Daw

It might have been better if it was the old 2-game episodes. Would have given others a change to redeem themselves (and maybe see MTGNerdGirl's Kykar deck).

Anonymous

This was dumb, you guys built annoying as fuck decks

Anonymous

Fun episode! Yarok looks like everything I wanted Muldrotha to be, definitely going to build it. Bad breaks for NerdGirl

Anonymous

OMG another great episode guys, as usual. Josh, my sympathies, Amaz, great job knocking the 2 Game Knights first ....good thing they don't hold grudges or you woldn't get invited again. 😂

Anonymous

What makes me the most sad is that the Kykar deck basically didn't do anything.

Anonymous

My thoughts exactly. Both JLK and Jimmy built super hateful decks that are just not fun to play with. That seemed like an awful game to be a part of.

Anonymous

Yeah, that was like a slideshow of everything i don't like about Commander.. Extra turns, Mindslaver, oppressive plays - the list goes on. This probably was my least favorite episode since Jimmy returned from his vacation and took infinite turns with that Azorius deck. Come on guys, everyone gets Commander games like this sometimes, but that doesn't make it fun (or interesting) to watch. This is exactly the opposite of why I'm a patron of Game Knights. I'm a big supporter of the show overall, but this is just bad promotion for the format..

Anonymous

Good game, feel bad for nerd girl as we didn’t get to see her deck at all, it’s hard to comment on power level, yes JLK was powerful but as always where there is power others rise up to meet it and he gets mind slavered in retaliation, I was actually super surprised that even after the 2 extra turns JLK wasn’t in that much of a commanding position and Amas was still very much the threat especially after the graveyard exile. Either way it was good to see how these new commanders can play and as always great content....dropping two eps in one day my wife won’t be happy about my screen time 😂😂

Anonymous

Just about exactly the same for me!! 🍻 except I’ve just recently gotten back in and been working on a couple standard decks so far and bought a 2018 commander pre-con...still need to jump out and play lol

Anonymous

Ready to play on my way home!! 🍻🤓

Anonymous

I feel bad for NerdGirl. she didn't get to do anything thanks to all the degenerate stuff. Even though she helped everyone take care of Josh's things.

Anonymous

"A slideshow of everything I don't like about Commander..." couldn't have said it better myself. Still a huge fan of everything CZ does but this game was entirely too spiky.

Anonymous

Fantastic game, as always!

Anonymous

Yeah I was soooo hoping MTGNerdGirl would draw what she needed! Great show as usual! I could see JLK looking like the anger dude from inside out lol!

Anonymous

Yeah, this hurt me. I looove GK, but I think they let the complaints about underpowered decks get to them (I for one thought they were perfect before). Lowlights of the episode: NerdGirl not getting to play her deck, Having to watch Josh sit through Mindslaver, and watchinng everyone else sit through Josh’s ten minute turn.

Anonymous

I was really hoping mtgnerdgirl would get going like everyone else. but sadly she was left in the dust.

Anonymous

Definitely enjoyed the episode. Felt bad that NerdGirl never got an traction but I love the momentum swings.

Anonymous

Man. Amaz is the type of player that I hate playing against. I’m sorry for everyone else 😂

Anonymous

There are two things I fail to understand: 1)Why does this game feel so unbalanced, was is just the bad draw from NerdGirl or was there a to big gap in the powerlevel. I mean we had stompy Games, but this was somekind of brutal. 2) Why where Josh and Jimmy so blind, normal they quickly destory draw engines, why not this time? But all in all it was a nice Episode, keep up your good work. Rev 01.: text editing stuff, did not change anything in this text

Anonymous

Nerd girl needs another shot. She got screwed in this game.

Anonymous

Great episode!! I totally felt the big empty void inside Josh's chest, when he realized he'll be mindslaved into oblivion. I mean the poor guy was so salty there were deer in the distance wanting to come over and lick him.

Anonymous

As for the balance thing: I think a lot of the balance of the games on Game Knights is definitely due to the fact that Josh, Jimmy and their guests often go for the most fun plays and not for the most broken plays. And that is good because they're advocating for EDH as a casual format and their show is also watched by a lot of new players and I guess they don't want scare them away by showing them all the crazy and broken stuff like Mindslaver, multiple (or infinite) extra turns, MLD, infinite combos and all the other stupid things you can do in this glorious game in every episode. I liked that this episode felt to be a bit more on the spikey side and it was a good representation of what Commander games just sometimes look, play and feel like, imo.

Anonymous

So I feel like these decks were fine, until the combination of Jimmy’s mindslaver being used on Josh by the guest (can’t remember his name right now) is what broke this game. Which is what I feel like Commander is all about. Getting to do insane stuff. There is no way Jimmy thought his mindslaver was going to be used against him/josh. And I guarantee Josh didn’t expect to get mindslavered but, to be fair, he ignored all of his own warnings about making yourself the biggest threat at the table to quickly and the table had to take him down. Idk, this game was super Spikey but I think it was fine because it was just due to the 3 out of the 4 decks basically combining forces into one unstoppable machine.

I'm on the fence on this episode. One one hand, it was more closely aligned to how a typical Commander game will go at an LGS, where one or more players are just 'locked' out from doing anything and just wither away and die. On the other hand, most Game Knights episodes don't have these 'locks' so that players are able to fight their way out of bad situations much more easily. It's something I actually sent in a PM to the Game Knights crew about an experience I had with a Thran deck I played against, where I sat there and watched this other player for 10 minutes durdle with the cards until everyone died and without instants, there just wasn't anything to be done. Amaz' final turn(s) operated the same way. So while I applaud Game Knights for showing a grittier episode which bears more similarity to real LGS style Commander, I do much prefer the episodes which are more akin to Kitchen Table Commander (everyone has more fun, everyone has a fighting chance, and everyone gets to play MTG)

GTTX

feels bad

JLK, saw this tweet mentioned and there was a rules error when Amaz put your commander in the graveyard. Per rule 903.9, the commander’s owner decides where to put the commander, not the controller: 903.9 If a commander would be exiled from anywhere or put into its owner’s hand, graveyard, or library from anywhere, its owner may put it into the command zone instead. This replacement effect may apply more than once to the same event. This is an exception to rule 614.5.

Wow! This episode was brutal but so fun to watch! I played in EDH games like this and really felt bad for Nerd Girl. I saw where her deck was going and it looked crazy but just unlucky. I hope she gets another opportunity to be on Game Knights! Thanks guys for another amazing episode!!

I've been angry and thinking about this all day and I'm just going to come out say what I saw on MTGNerdGirl's stream last night. I've never watched her stream before last night and was only directed there from a raid from Jody Keith's stream which often watch for the Legacy content. Right after he raided I was like "oh this is that girl from the Game Knights episode" and proceeded to watch for about 5-10 mins when the topic of EDH was brought up by someone in chat. She proceeds to explain how that was her first EDH game and thinks that EDH is basically a "Circle Jerk", then moments later said she hopes to be back on Game Knights in the future. I thought this was a slap in the face to Josh/Jimmy for having her on. I can't believe that she would say that publicly and then want to be back on their show. PLEASE do not invite her again! I didn't engage with her comments in the chat I just closed her stream to another. I wish I clipped it because it was very insulting to me because I love EDH for the social aspect of it that I don't normally get with competitive formats. Again, PLEASE do not invite her back!!

Anonymous

Did you watch that? I’d have been pissed too. Was not a fan of omaz at all.

Anonymous

That was a really enjoyable game. Much suppressed salt and frustration. Yarok just became pure silly regardless what triggers you have if the trigger 3+ time a turn they just because value town.
