Quick health update before we get started: I'm feeling a lot better! I still have to be careful when I tilt my head, but I think the BPPV will be completely gone within a month. Thanks for the well-wishes and the kind messages :)??

The Night Trap episode is on hold for now, and I started to work on the mini-episode. I wanted to keep the game a secret, but it's kindof impossible to do these updates without spoiling it, so I'm just gonna go ahead and say it, it's Red Dead Redemption2. The Best Friends never played this game, but they did make an episode for the first Red Dead Redemption wherethey troll everybody and actually play Red Dead Revolver. And I'm going to do something similar here, but instead of RDRevolver, I'm re-imagining RDR2 as a weird, old school PS1 game.

I'm going to use Unity for this project since I already have some experience from the Shadow episode. And don't worry, I'm not trying to build an entire game here, I'm just going to create a few specific scenes for the video. But I'm still gonna have to create a lot of assets though. If you played RDR2 you might recognize the image above, it's Valentine! Well, an unfinished low poly version of Valentine. Even if it is low poly, I'm trying to keep the environmentsfaithful to the game so it might take a while to finish some of this stuff.

The main characters are done already! I wanted to stay close to the PS1 polycount, so I actually used Irvine's 3D model from Final Fantasy 8 as a base to make the bodies, and I think it worked pretty well. We got Celestia as Arthur Morgan and Luna as John Marston. As you can see they have different hairstylesand ahuman-like design (which is going to help me a lot when I start animating), but I'm still keeping things cartoony. Like I said in a previous update, I want to make sure that the characters are charming, even if they are low poly 3D models. So I made the decision to rely more on texture rather than geometry for the faces (like Megaman Legends models). You can see on the gif below how I'm able to change the expression of the character using the UV map tools.

That's it for now, I'm going to finish Valentine, and I'll be back with another update after I export the models to Unity!

I love the low-polycount models! Using Irvine as a base is genius. Glad you are feeling better and hope you are completely recovered soon.
