[Carlisle POV]

Aro was a difficult vampire to deal with, because when he got interested in something, he would move the world to get it, but even with his undeniably greedy nature, he was not one to rush into things, mostly because he was sure he would get what he wanted sooner or later.

“Aro, I realize his actions seem… like an attack on our race, to the Volturi, but all he did was hunt those who killed his family,” I knew what I was saying was partly a lie, but it was also the true, Jack and his hunt were all to avenge his sister, and now that he had found her, he had stopped, “I assure you… he won’t be a problem anymore, since he joined our coven he has stopped killing Vampires indiscriminately,”

“Oh, Carlisle, but what guarantee do I have?” Aro replied with an amused tone, even through the phone I could tell, he wasn’t at all insulted about Jack’s actions, the only reason he was behind Jack was because he was interested in him, in his power, “He killed so many vampires, that… I’m not sure I can in good conscience let him be,”

“Aro, we have known each other for a long time, hundreds of years to be exact, please… let me handle this,” I begged, “I know what he did, and how it can be seen as an insult to the Volturi… but he hasn’t broken any laws Aro, our laws don’t cover what he has done,”

“Hm, I suppose you do have a point there,” Aro mused with a chuckle, “I guess, I could overlook this… incident, if… I have your word, the Cullen Coven will be held responsible for his actions should he break any laws in the future,”

I knew what he meant by that… in other words he was saying he would destroy my coven, taking what he wanted from the ashes, Alice, Edward and Jack, if another insult was made, “You have my word,” I promised, I would protect my family no matter the cost, and Jack was part of it.

“Wonderful!” Aro cackled, “I will have my guard… know Jack… is forgiven,”

“Will… the laws be updated?” I inquired, wondering if he would make a law not to kill other vampires.

“Oh no, the laws will remain the same,” Aro assured me, “Do not worry dear friend, he didn’t break any laws, I just… want to know someone has a leash on him,” in other words, he wants to know where he is at all times, knowing he is part of my coven, he would know who to call or hunt if he ever wanted him.

“I can’t thank you enough for this,” I added, “I will tell my coven of your… decision,”

“You do that, I will have my guard know Jack is… at the moment free,” Aro said, hanging up the phone.

“Aro gave us the clear,” I announced, looking at Alice.

“My vision has still not changed…” Alice informed us, “Did he lie?!” She hissed.

“Aro doesn’t lie, not like that…” I sighed, “He most likely will let his guard do their thing… by not telling them of their change of plans…”

“Aro will simply delay his promise as much as possible,” Edward hissed, “Any visions of where he is?”

“He will be in Atlanta in an hour,” Alice nodded.

“Then let’s fucking move!” Emmett growled, running out of the house, with Rosalie by his side.

“I’m with them,” Jasper announced running after them. Soon everyone followed, including me.

[Venom POV]

We were tired of running, this chase was leading to nowhere, no matter where we ran , where we hid… they would find us, so… we had to face this… sooner or later. With a growl of desperation we stopped dead in our tracks, in the middle of a forest close to Atlanta we guessed, “We will… face this, together!”

We could feel them getting closer, we could feel their smell, they would catch up to us in ten minutes or so, so we hid. If these vampires were dangerous we had to have the element of surprise, take one out before the other two have the chance to react…. with that in mind, we hid inside at the top of a tree, making sure to be as silent as the flap of an owl’s wing.

Were we afraid? We couldn’t tell, it wasn’t fear was motivated us to run, it was… something else, something akin to fear, but not in the same level, we couldn’t really explain what we were feeling, but we didn’t like it, “It will be okay,” we muttered, trying to convince ourselves, whatever this world was throwing at us, we would come up top.

And that even if we couldn’t beat whatever it was coming our way, we would face it together, we were never alone… we always had each other, no matter the situation, I had him… and he had me, forever.

From the shadows, the ones that had been chasing us jumped, stopping right where we had stopped, two males and a female, the males however faded in the background for us, our eyes could only focus on the very small female, the sight of her… made us tremble…. Petrified at the sight of her, we knew… she was the one we were running from, even in her petite frame, we didn’t dare to attack her, and we didn’t understand why…

“He should be around here,” one of the males suddenly spoke, breaking the ice cold silence while looking around, “Too bad we can’t smell him… but he is here,” he is as the tracker, that much was clear now.

“Maybe he got tired of running around…” The big male chuckled, “Oh well… this is going to be fun,”

“This is getting annoying,” The little female spoke, looking in every direction.

Once again our body trembled, as we felt the urge to run away, it was as if some instinct within us was instructing our legs to run, why was that little vampire so… terrifying?! We couldn’t understand, at a simple glance, it looked like we could break her in half with a single swing, and yet, our entire body was screaming at us to not bare our fangs at her, to hide or run, this entire scenario seemed inconceivable.

“Check the trees,” The little vampire ordered, and we knew we had to act, if this was fear, we would overcome it.

Dashing forward, we shoot our webs to a tree a ripping the entire thing out of place, and swinging it at her, as expected she dodged, as her companions did, taking this split of a second she had jumped of the ground, we lunged at her, talons ready to kill her, one swing… it was all we needed, but as soon as her eyes caught us, we fell to the ground with a loud thud.

As pain like never before invaded our body, we could feel as if our entire being was being engulfed in the hottest flames in existence, even though we could see there was no fire to be seen, the pain was so big… so immeasurable, our body expanded and contracted trying to fix whatever it was hurting us.

“He certainly looks… unique,” The small female smiled, her eyes filled with pleasure at the sight of our pain.

“Fuck… you…” we hissed, our body shaking violently on the ground, convulsing as her eyes digged into our very soul.

“We will have to fix that behavior,” The female sighed, and immediately after the big male kicked us into a tree, adding more pain into the mix.

“Rip his arms off,” the female ordered, and the big male grinned.

“You son of a bitch!” Someone cried, tackling the big vampire into the ground, it was Emmett, how… Did they find us…

“Who dares to-” the little female in as cut as Jasper jumped over her smashing her head to the ground, which made the pain we were feeling do away immediately, as if it never existed to begin with, “The Volturi canceled the hunt, you can check if you want,” he whispered into her ear, before releasing her.

“Demetri,” Carlisle greeted, “We informed the Volturi… Jack is part of our coven, and they granted us permission to end this hunt, you can check,”

“I will take your word for it,” Demetri nodded.

“You… bastard,” the female yet to be named hissed, glaring at Jasper, who like us fell to the ground in pain.

In rage, we growled, “We will rip your head off!” But Carlisle stopped us.

“Jane, let’s go, Aro must have given Carlisle permission to keep the strange vampire,” Demetri reminded the monster we now knew her name was Jane.

“Very well,” Jane sneered, stopping whatever was making Jasper feel pain, “I will wait with glee for the moment one of you gives the Volturi a reason to hunt you all down,” and with that they left.

“Where is Alice?” We asked, and jumping out of the trees, she tackled us into a hug.

“We were hiding in case we had to fight… it was best to avoid Jane and her sight,” Edward informed us, so that’s how her power worked, a simple glance and we were down for the count… that shit is broken!

“God that hurt,” Jasper muttered, “No wonder they fear that little rat….”

“Who?” We asked.

“Her companions…” Jasper replied, “All they fear towards her… is fear,”

“You will never! and I mean never! Go to live alone again!” Alice cried in our chest, “I saw how they tortured you… how they made you scream…. I didn’t like it!”

“At least buy us some heaters…” we joked, which got us a playful punch from the entire coven…

“We will… make your living conditions more, amiable to you,” Carlisle chuckled, “Let’s go home,”

“Let’s,” we agreed.

He shouldn’t have such a primal fear of her and as he is superior to her physically he should be able to get to her back and take off her head.
