My time in Texas was enjoyable, good food, not as good as Esme’s but good enough, good people, and more importantly, lots and lots of sun, which was ironic considering Venom and I were weak against fire, oh well. Texas was like a summer vacation from the cold.

“So, what do you want to do today?” I asked Venom.

“Hunt a human eating vampire?” Venom offered.

“Tempting but, there are very few vampires around these areas, you know with the sun and all,” I hummed, all the money in the world and nothing to do, it was truly paradoxical.

I guess money really doesn’t buy happiness, at least if you are immortal, there’s only so much you can do with money during an immortal lifetime, “Mayb—“ I stopped mid sentence, feeling my spider sense go haywire, like never before, “The fuck?”

Immediately, Venom covered my body, but the tingling sensation didn’t fade away, it simple kept getting worse and worse, “This is new,” we hissed, looking in all directions, until a smell caught our nose, three vampires were coming towards us, normally this would be a piece of cake, but we couldn’t help but want to run away, the entire thing felt dangerous, as if whoever it was coming was the apex predator.

Never before we had run from a vampire, never before we had the necessity of such a thing, we were the superior hunter, and yet, we felt like a prey, waiting for the jaws of death to take us away, “Fuck this,” we growled, and ran out of the house, webs shooting forward, whatever it was coming, we didn’t want to face, our instincts were telling us to run, and they have never betray us.

As we swung under the dim light of the moon, we pondered what could possibly threaten us to such a degree our basic instincts are telling us to run and not look back, we had faced entire covens, and always we have emerged victorious, undefeated… So why, why were three vampires enough to make us feel fear for the first time in decades?!

“Their smell…” We hissed in shock, “Is still getting close…..” a vampire capable of tracking us?! How! Our scent was something no vampire had been able to grasp… “Maybe we should fight?”

We shook that thought of our heads, even if we were brave going to battle without knowing why the enemy was pushing us away, was a suicide.

[Jane POV]

It took Demetri three months to find the spiritual track of the beast we were hunting, more than usual, according to Demetri, it was because it was almost as if the beast was more than he should, but even with Demetri and his unmatched prowess at tracking, the beast had managed to escape our first attempt to deal with it.

“It seems the thing we are hunting has some tracking abilities as well,” Demetri sighed, “He must have smell us a few miles before we arrived at its abode, a human abode at that… which means,”

“The creature is intelligible,” I smiled, good… if he was worthy of serving the Volturi, then it would be easier to tame him, if he wasn’t worthy… Well, I would get to see him suffer, and him being intelligible made this better, after all, there was fun making a mindless animal suffer, because they don’t really understand what is going on.

“What I don’t understand is… how did you catch his essence… don’t you have to know him, or someone that knows him before doing that?” Felix inquired, and that was a rather good question, nobody that had encountered the beast had survived, so how did Demetri managed to track him.

“Well… I am not sure myself,” Demetri admitted, “Most likely, I know someone that knows him,”

“If that was the case wouldn’t you have caught the track earlier? It took you weeks to get somewhere with this assignment,” Felix added, “This all… feels, strange…”

“It does,” Demetri nodded, “If I have to take a guess is… because this thing we are hunting is no vampire, no human… and certainly no werewolf… whatever it is, it’s unique, and it’s uniqueness it’s making it hard for me to track,”

“I hope the beast it’s worthy,” I smiled, “If the tales of its feats are true, his strength will bring the Volturi more glory,”

“I wonder what type of creature has the power to destroy entire covens alone,” Felix said, a smirk on his face, “Perhaps it was nothing but lies from the covens in the area he didn’t attack… I mean, why would a beast of such power run from three vampires, if he had killed dozens alone,”

“A very good question,” I smiled, “Perhaps we have been lied to… in which case, we have a few covens to burn,”

“Maybe… but seeing as how the creature is outrunning us, I think there are two possibilities,” Demetri chuckled giving a side look, “One… we have been lied to… or two, the beast has a power that let him know he’s in danger, and knows he can’t take us alone…”

“I see,” Felix laughed, “If the beast is truly capable of destroying covens on its own, then physical prowess is his realm… but against Jane, that doesn’t really matters, perhaps he does have a power that tells him when to run from imminent danger,”

I smiled satisfied with that explanation, my power was impossible to stop, one look… and no matter how strong my enemies were… they would bend their knees, “Let’s see then… which is the right answer,”

[Alice POV]

I was walking down the stairs to hang out with the Denali sisters, a vision took over, and I found myself in Italy, inside an old castle, in the throne room, there was a trio of vampires looking down at… Jack… who was convulsing in the floor with pain, as a small girl smiled at him, at his suffering.

With each passing second, Jack would scream, his black inky suit expanding and retracting uncontrollably, his suffering was agony to me… “All you have to do.. is obey… and this will end,”

“Fuck… you…” Jack hissed, baring his fangs at the man in front of him.

“Continue Jane, until our inky pet learns his place,” The man smiled, taking a seat of his throne, and once again the room was filled with screams, and roars of pain…

“Alice… what did you see?!” Jasper asked, as tears streamed down my face.

“Jack… he’s being hunted by the Volturi,” Edward, who had read my mind, answered, “Carlisle… we must help him, he hasn’t broken any rules, this hunt is just to recruit him!”

“I will call Aro… perhaps the friendship we once shared can save Jack,” Carlisle said, rushing to the phone.

“I… saw him… he was suffering… so much… I could… feel… his…. their pain!” I cried, the vivid image of Jack convulsing on the ground as the small vampire glared at him.

“That small demon you saw… is Jane, she’s one of the two ultimate weapons the Volturi have,” Edward growled, “A simple glance from her… and you are down, the pain she can inflict is beyond anything… and anyone can endure,”

“Well?! What in the fuck are we waiting for, let’s go and save our brother!” Emmett growled.

“I agree with Emmett, I won’t let him suffer if I can help it,” Rosalie declared.

“Do you know where he is?” Jasper asked me.

“I can.. I can try to see where he’s going right now,” I offered.

“You do that, I will see if I Aro… let’s him off his greedy hook,” Edward sighed, running to where Carlisle had gone.

Though Venom and Jack have two minds and Venom is known to alter its psyche.

And would the power work on Venom? I mean, he's a parasite, aka an alien.
