The story itself is centered around celestia and lunas battle after she became nightmare moon, and how hard it was for celestia to banish her to the moon for 1000 years. The show picking up after the banishment was completed and leading into her becoming Luna once again

Love it. For the record, I suggested Lullaby For a Princess after Season 1 finished. I think it got lumped into the end of Season 3 because of the uneven episode number. So, backstory: This was 100% fan animated, composed, and sung. The song was released in 2012 (season 2), and it took another 3 years for the animation to be finished. What it's about: This was sung by Princess Celestia and provides the full backstory of how and why she banished Luna to the moon for 1000 years. It begins with Celestia being praised by all the ponies, but Luna being largely ignored (because most ponies are asleep at night when she is up and about). It continues with Celestia (not Cadance... Celestia had pink hair when she was much younger. It became flowy and multi-colored later in life) trying to console Luna, but then becoming angry when Luna doesn't want to talk to her. She then walks off, unaware that Luna allowed the darkness to consume her and become Nightmare Moon. Later it shows the battle as Nightmare Moon tries to kill Celestia. Celestia is wounded and lands near the Elements of Harmony. She uses them on instinct in order to save her life, and only realizes after the fact what she has done. The rest of the song is about Celestia's regret that she had to do such a thing to her own sister. The lowering of the moon is symbolic in that she must lower the moon herself now, and she is "putting her sister to sleep" like what was shown with the bed now being empty. Through books and other media, it's confirmed that this is pretty much exactly what happened within the show. Without getting into spoilers, if you pay attention to future Celestia appearances, you may notice that she still deeply regrets what she did, and perhaps a lot of her actions are directly influenced by this regret. One of the more fun aspects of the show is that some truly awful things do happen, and the characters are way, way deeper and more complex than we might initially be led to believe. There's more than one character dealing with emotional burdens, but you'll have to wait and see who they are.

There was no particular reason we gave to watch the fan works after the finale. There were no spoilers involved, and when we discussed it originally, we just said "sometime during S3". The finale is as good as any. This is what I usually send to people who are skeptical about the show or the fandom. It combines some of the best music and art the fans have to offer, with one of the deeper story points of the show without spoiling anything significant. Ponyphonic hasn't written too many songs, but everything they have is golden.

lol I went full cutie mark chronicle's twilight here when I saw you doing some fan made stuff just cheering yes yes yes. you'll find that the fandom does some incredible work inspired from the show in animation art and music this is one of the most beloved ones because it tells the story before the series started in which tia was left with no choice but to banish her sister to the moon and since you've already watched snowdrop I can spoil this this banishment meant those they cared about would no longer be alive when luna returned. imagine that weight you have to banish a sibling or family member you love so much that everyone they know and love will be dead by the time they return. also as far as the violence the show from here on out does crank it up as they knew of the adult base it had secured but doesn't go as far as killing off anypony (more on that when I watch and comment on season3's finale)

I agree with the others that indicated that there isn't much reason for this to be watched post s3. literally the only thing that might be considered 'spoilers' is that in the fan animation celestia goes to a starry, ethereal plane and looks at memories/pictures around her, which she does in the s3 finale in showing twilight some of her best moments. i don't actually consider that worthy of being called a spoiler, but it is technically a thing celestia can do that we didn't see beforehand, so that MIGHT be why if anyone said to wait until after the finale.

Yeah, this fanimation really illustrates the divide that the fandom went through during the original run. If you're an outsider looking in, you think oh it's just a show for little girls, with cute horses that fly and have magical powers who are learning about friendship or whatever. But when you're a brony, and you recognize the depth of the writing behind the characters, their backstories and motivations, and give yourself permission to explore what they would think and feel if they were real, you end up with a heavily invested fan base and high quality, imaginative works like these. Like any avid fans, bronies are very possessive of their show, but to an outsider, grown men obsessing over a show for little girls, dressing up in wigs and costumes, and singing silly theme songs looks really, really strange (for obvious reasons). But that sort of impression only drove the fans closer together--along, of course, with the positive, uplifting message of the show (which is subtitled Friendship Is Magic, after all). I'm glad you're on this journey, because it gives bronies like me the chance to relive the happy memories we had of the original run, and to be proud of the struggles we went through together. As friends.

I loved this reaction! I'd love to see you watch some more fan content such as Friendship is Witchcraft, pony.mov, and Bronies React. :D

Oh! And Ponies: the Anthology series would be great to watch you react to as well! ^_^

Now, look up the companion video to this "The Moon Rises" a song by the same people, but different animators making the video showing Luna's fall from her own PoV And no, she was not 'burying' the moon, that scene was right after showing Celestia tucking her sister in a she got older, then and empty bed and Celestia lowering the moon, all while singing a lullaby, she was tucking her sister in again.
