I forgot how good Snowdrop was. A very nice story. I'm sure everyone can relate to feeling useless for one reason or another at some point during their lives. Nice to see Snowdrop create something wonderful despite her lack of confidence. Sad, though, that Luna was banished on the moon when Snowdrop passed away, and never got a chance to say goodbye.

Snowdrop is a little melancholy for my tastes, but you cannot deny it's incredible animation, acting, and story. Fan works often like to delve into the great tragedy of Luna's banishment, her conflict with her sister who is her only family, and her return to a world far removed from everything she ever knew. Part of the greatness of MLP is how it inspires so many other stories beyond the main show. None of this is canon, and as far as I know is not based on another fan work. No fan project has official support from Hasbro, but many will credit the company for the general idea of the show. Copyright and fan works is a tricky business, and it's always good to be deferential to our corporate overlords and their lawyers. It's common to depict a young Celestia with entirely pink mane and tail. If you notice in Lullaby for a Princess, she changes at the moment she uses the Elements of Harmony to banish Luna/Nightmare Moon, the powerful magic seeming to leave a mark on her. Color, particularly rainbows, are often associated with powerful magic in MLP.

and still after seeing this over 50 times I can not watch without crying at the end. sadly this isn't canon and only exist in the fandom. the thing with things like derpy it was the shows creation not fandom but the fandom pointed it out and was like "hey we love this give us more" and that got the show who saw this unexpected fanbase grow the idea to cater to what they wanted........ which lead to a shitstorm. kinda a spoiler maybe but the show still did cater to the fanbase but A LOT was scaled back and many things the fandom wanted never came to be because of that. now back with snowdrop this was a idea based off the show and not part of it infact silly filly studio's has a few one I'd recommend is fall of an empire its a story based on king sombra and his banishment a thousand years ago (yes every threat equestria ever faced was 1000 years ago) also if you want show quality anmation for fan video's look for ANYTHIMNG by jans animation he did one called picture perfect pony that was actually "leaked" as animation from the show which with how crappy hasbro's security was with episodes was never questioned by the fandom till the season aired.

Yeah, this is cheesy, glurgy, saccharine.... but it's a Christmas special, that's the one time you can get away with over doing it like this and have it work.
