Use Your Finger to Stop a Leak on the Space Station?

I show what happens when you try to seal a small vacuum leak with your finger and ductape. Help me make videos by donating here: https://www.patreon.com/CodysLab Follow me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/codydonreeder SubReddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/codyslab/

I like that clip at the end.

Are you gonna try to put liquid nitrogen on it to see how it affects them.

Devil's advocate. You never put your finger over the hole while there was anything comparable to the vacuum of space. Your wimpy pump vacuum is only comparable to the vacuum of space while you have a sealed container and plenty of time to evacuate. You'd need a relatively large reservoir for the vacuum for the test to be comparable, no? That way it could sustain the full suckin' power (scientific term) of the hole for long enough for you to lift your finger off and reseal it while the pressure differential is still comparable to the vacuum of space.

"You'd need a relatively large reservoir for the vacuum for the test to be comparable, no?"... No. Vacuum is doesn't get stronger with the "more" vacuum you have. Also, keep in mind that where the ISS orbits, is not a perfect vacuum.

I guess that if Scott feels it's worth knowing, I should probably know about it too. :) Cool video Cody, but I think you meant to say that the bottle is about "room temperature", not "body temperature"? That clip demonstrating Lenz effect was sweet.

Well that was a cool project that you showed. Learned something new about it.

They are about the same in degrees Kelvin. I am guessing that is all that matters.
