So here is the latest Email correspondence with a company in the UK that produces fluorinated hydrocarbons. Just to fill you in, I'm trying to get Perfluorobutane( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfluorobutane ) which should be the heaviest gas (at room temperature) that would be safe enough to take a breath of. Being 60% heavier than sulfur hexafluoride this should produce an incredibly low piched voice.

Oh and can someone explain to me how a "BSC's Transfer" works?

Hi Cody,

I have cylinders in stock so no problems there, as I mentioned previously I should be able to confirm the quantity and delivery date very shortly.

Regarding payment we don’t accept credit cards or paypal (our accountant is stick in the 1970’s!) but if you could organise to make a BSC’s transfer

that would be fine.

I will produce a proforma invoice with all the payment details on it so you can organise a payment. (hope this is ok)

As I don’t want to bill you for goods I am not sure I can supply yet, I will produce the invoice as soon as I know I can confirm supply. Please bear with

me for a couple of days and I will confirm our current status. Sorry for the delay.

Regards

I think it's a typo for BACS transfer. Not sure how international they are! Quite possibly very UK specific.

Anonymous

BSC is a basically UK bank sort code for international transactions, it should work as a standard bank transfer, but you may need to go into your branch and sort it in person (at least I had to when sending money from the UK to New Zealand)

What kind of place doesn't take credit cards? But I think Ben there is right, seems to be a typo. They made a couple of them

It could be this as well <a href="https://www.ofx.com/en-us/faqs/what-is-bsc/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.ofx.com/en-us/faqs/what-is-bsc/</a>

I think this is the one the Brits refer to as BCS transfer: bcsforex.com

Anonymous

Probably just a wire transfer, you can use Transferwise or a similar service for a cheaper fee than your bank charges you

Anonymous

Its a BACS transfer, a kind of direct debit bank transfer the brits use. It has nothing to do with that forex trading site

I'm pretty sure its just an international bank transfer. Which is annoying but not too bad. But if you want information on transferring to Bismarck State College i found this... <a href="https://bismarckstate.edu/academics/records/transferinfo/transfertobsc/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://bismarckstate.edu/academics/records/transferinfo/transfertobsc/</a>

This is what I found. <a href="https://www.ofx.com/en-us/faqs/what-is-bsc/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.ofx.com/en-us/faqs/what-is-bsc/</a>

Maybe ping YTer NurdRage on how to make your own (if possible)?

CodysLab

Oh It’s beyond any home lab, especially if I want to try breathing it.

I’d suspect it’s supposed to be BACS which is the standard interbank transfer system in the UK. Should be doable internationally but if it’s hassle I’m in the UK and could easily sort.

Anonymous

Cody man, I’d recommend you take a few breaths of 100% O2 right before you do this. You’ll be a lot more comfortable and less chance of passing out.

Credit cards are difficult, but international shipping isn't?

Cody, BSC transfer means Bank Sort Code transfer. <a href="https://www.ofx.com/en-us/faqs/what-is-bsc/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.ofx.com/en-us/faqs/what-is-bsc/</a>

Cool? Why was it phased out? Does it act like a CFC would?

Hello, Coady. By coincidence, I live near Preston (Lancs) too. It's a small world. They mean a BACS transfer: or you may use IBAN. Essentially, they want you to transfer money into their account.

Anonymous

Good luck with the BACS transfer, if you need any help I'm also in the UK and can help if you need it but your local bank will probably be able to sort it out, it might be easier to use their IBAN (International Bank Account Number) if you can get it. As to those questioning the lack of accepting credit cards, it's not uncommon in companies who only usually deal with other large companies. Looking into the history of this company I think that would apply, it used to be called BNFL perfluorochemicals ltd, anyone who recognises those initials will realise it's a company which was part of British Nuclear Fuels Ltd when it was privatised off from the British government. It's probably still manufacturing and selling chemicals for the nuclear energy industry so kudos to them for being up for working with Cody to make this happen.

BSC transfer is just a specific kind of wire transfer. They'll give you an account number, then you need to call your bank and ask them to do a transfer to that account.

Hey Cody, If it's a hassle from the US to do the bank transfer thing, I can help you out. I have GBP and EUR accounts. Get in touch and I can do the transfer and you can Paypal me back once the order's confirmed. I trust you with my 5 bucks a month, so this isn't much of a stretch from that ;)

BSC stands for Bank Sort Code Here is a link for more information. <a href="https://www.ofx.com/en-us/faqs/what-is-bsc/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.ofx.com/en-us/faqs/what-is-bsc/</a>

Not a big deal you just go to the bank with routing number and other info(should be on invoice) and ask for wire transfer. (they may question it a bit from a personal account but it defiantly doable) It may take some time to go though but most company will ship the small stuff relativity quick even before it clears some times. Just make absolutely sure the details match before you sign it. Things that seam like they wont matter often will cause isuues like Random company vs Random co. in the name.

There is really a company out there in a first world country that doesn't take CC or paypal in this day and age?!?! Good lord.. And good luck.

Devin Forbes

Lots of companies don't. Some bullion companies don't. Lots of car dealerships, some Universities. Anything that only sells things in large dollar amounts. Some of those places will take CC but add a 2% fee. Which, if you're buying a 50K vehicle, is a bit much.

BTC Or LTC. Its time to look at crypto finally.

The guy meant to say BACS transfer... same as he meant to say stuck instead of stick!

David Vas

Use transferwise - that will be your least costly option. That lets you deposit into a UK bank account from your US bank account with minimal fees. The only downside is it might take a week or so, which includes your bank verification (they do 2 small couple cents charges and you need to enter the exact amounts they charged you for - which will be included in the total transfer fee).
