Can you try burning a fresh pine twig in 1/3 oxygen, 2/3 nitrogen? Just curious to see the difference it made during the Carboniferous. :)

In 6th grade, we had a science class with different stations set up for experiments. One such experiment involved affixing steel wool across some sewing pins inside a white film canister, then applying voltage. The directions called for 6v (lantern battery), but we were provided with a standard 9v battery. Needless to say, burning steel wool in a plastic container inside didn't end well.
