I could make a whole video of my mistakes

I guess that wasn't... as heat resistant as I thought.

What is this my 5th furnace blooper? This did set me back a ways so I hope you all at least find it funny/informational. Bake ware isn't made from Borosilicate anymore.

Anonymous

Hope you're okay. You sounded like that hurt you.

Anonymous

I fell bad that I found that funny

Michael Aichlmayr

I tried not to laugh, but I only laughed because it hits so close to home (and I probably have more karma in my future 😞).

Douglas Boyle

Is it bad that I saw that coming?

Mark Trombley

Exploding glass is ungood.

This is why eye protection is good

This happened to me as well, just with a glass rod and with the main container at 150-200°C... Thermal shock is such an easy concept and I'm using borosilicate 3.3 so obviously it will be fine, I thought. Yeah.

Anonymous

Aww, shit happens. You should see when I try cooking actual food.

Anonymous

Lesson learned but it OK Cody maybe get ceramic, etc for 200 plus degrees C. Good thing you were not hurt there. :).

This happened to my mother while baking and she ended up with shards of glass in her foot. But buying borosilicate bakeware in America isn't the easiest thing apparently.

Is it just me or the quality of Pyrex as gone down dramatically in the last decade?

Jamie Magin

Corning sold the use of the Pyrex brand name (at least in the US) to someone who makes non-borosilicate glass under that name. You can buy borosilicate baking dishes, but they cost more and are usually from European brands, if I recall correctly.

Anonymous

awwww, poor buddy

Anonymous

A video about why this happened, and what should have been done differently would make an excellent video.

Anonymous

do you want some REAL pirex from EU? xD

Anonymous

Go look up thermal shock, I'm not trying to be rude, it's just a topic that's well covered already.

Anonymous

I've never understood why they trust some of us with real knives and heating surfaces, something bad will inevitably come of it.

Anonymous

Pyrex cookware is no longer the same boro glass as the labware.

Anonymous

A mixed blooper reel would be fun.

Anonymous

"I guess that wasn't..." *grunt* My life in one audio clip. lol

Alexander Thomas

It always feels a bit wrong to hit the ‘like’ button on videos like these ;)

Anonymous

I like the idea

Anonymous

What company makes that kiln by the way?

Anonymous

I jumped man. I also heard your frustration. Bloopers are hilarious.

Anonymous

funny, as soon as you opened the lid i exactly expected to happen what happened. only use borosilicate stuff! ^^
